Great Friend Challenge

Another sketch challenge! This one was for SUDSOL's Chat & Challenge last Friday night. I've been a member of SUDSOL forever, and never made it to one of those. But, hubby was at the State Fair (as he will be every day through it), one son was at a dance at school and the other had a friend over and they were rockin' away on guitar hero in the basement. So, I took the opportunity to join in the fun! SUDSOL, btw, is a demo group that I've found very useful over the years! Check out the link in my right sidebar if you're a demo who would like to give it a try!

For the card, I went very simple. I thought after maybe one more layer would have been good. But, it's not bad as is. Card base is Rich Razzleberry. Background layer is Cottage Wall DSP. Butterflies from Great Friend were stamped in Razzleberry on Whisper White & Cut out. Same with the saying & shape. Butterflies & saying were adhered with dimensionals over Razzleberry ribbon.

Happy Sunday all! Working around home today. Decided not to do the State Fair today because of the crowds. We'll go tomorrow after school.

Last Club Card-Medallion Monogram

The last card for club last week! Inspired by something I saw somewhere on line. How's that for specific! The girls have all commented on this stamp, and several already own it even though we'd not used it yet. Most creations with it are quick and easy, and these are no exception!

Basically these are the same card, with the saying changed out, and one has a monogram, the other doesn't. The image above and the W below are both from the Lovely Letters alphabet. If you're making cards to have on hand, you don't know what initial you might need so above is the perfect solution. Another option would be to just add the initial right before sending.

Card base on both is Soft Suede. The Medallion was stamped in Soft Suede on Whisper White, leaving room at the bottom to add a saying & ribbon. In the center is a punched 1-3/4" circle of Soft Suede with a layered Whisper White 1/3-8" punched circle. Ribbon is Soft Suede Polka-Dot grosgrain, one dots up, one dots down.

Animal Stories Mojo 101

Finally-another Mojo Monday sketch done, and it's only Thursday! Well, actually it's Friday now, but I did this Thursday evening. It's for the Mojo Monday Week 101 sketch.

This is a square card, 5-1/2". They are not my natural choice, but I'm learning to like them! Card base is Chocolate Chip. Background paper is DSP from the Tall Tales pack in mostly Chocolate Chip & So Saffron. Ribbon is the 1-1/4" Chocolate Chip Striped Grosgrain. The whale image from Animal Stories is stamped on Whisper White in So Saffron to match the DSP. Just for you from guess which set-Teeny Tiny Wishes! I sponged the edge with Chocolate Chip. The whale image was layered on using Dimensionals for added effect. The corners on the background DSP layer & the So Saffron were paper pierced using the Mat Pack & Paper Piercer. I added a brad to the corner hole on the DSP. Not thrilled with how they lay (NOT flat!), but otherwise I like the accent.

Happy Friday all! Hope it's a great day for you!!

Sneak Peak-Delightful Decorations

Here is a recent swap creation for the upcoming Holiday Mini. Demo perk-we get to order the sets one month early. Ask me about the great deal we have for joining the SU! family!!

I don't think I would have put these colors together myself for Christmas, but I love it! Card base is Soft Suede. Background layer is Real Red embossed with the new Petals a Plenty Textured Impressions Folder in the Big Shot. Top Note was cut from Whisper White and a strip of the new DSP, Christmas Cocoa Specialty was added at the bottom. The ribbon is the 3/4 Polka Dot Real Red Grosgrain, dots down with a gold cord tied around. Ornaments are from the Delightful Decorations set, stamped in Real Red on Whisper White and punched (Yep, punched-too cool!!) with the Ornament Punch. Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint was applied to the ornaments with a sponge dauber. Gold cord was tied around the ornament & strung up over the top of the Top Note to look like they are hanging. Dimensionals make the ornaments stand out.

Flores Suaves-2nd Club Card

Here is the 2nd card from Club last week. Simple and sweet says it all for this one!

The card base is Textured Crushed Curry. I like to see the texture, so I left as much showing as possible! The images here are from the Flores Suaves set-in our Spanish Catalog-Celebrando Creatividad. To my knowledge, this is the only exclusive set, most of the rest are the same images with words in Spanish. I love this butterfly and the look it creates when masked as here!

How do you mask? Stamp the butterfly on scratch paper and cut it out. Apply a temporary adhesive to the back. Our 2-way glue pen works well-IF you let it dry!! or the Dotto would work as well. Stamp the Butterfly image in the center of your cardstock. Apply the mask and stamp the word image over the butterfly. Remove the mask. Cool, right?

The butterfly is colored with Blender pens & Crushed Curry ink (picked up from the ink pad) and the Crushed Curry marker for the darker areas. Wide Black grosgrain ribbon and a simple phrase from Teeny Tiny Wishes completes the card. Very easy to mass produce!

Autumn Harvest Mojo Mary

Got one more sketch done today! I'm very tired-too much work in my weekend!! Good thing I get to be home tomorrow too! I have plenty more work around here to do. The problem with that is working around here usually means physical work, where working at work is mostly mental! Hopefully I can find some stamping time between the work!!

Not sure that I'm entirely happy with this one, but here it is anyway! The last Mojo Monday sketch for this week, MojoMary. I liked the look of this, and probably should have tried it earlier in the day when I had more clear thinking. The card base is Pumpkin Pie. Squares are from the Razzleberry Lemonade DSP. Pumpkin from Autumn Days was stamped on Whisper White in JetBlack Stazon & colored with the Pumpkin Pie marker. I lightened it some with a blender pen. Just for you is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes. This set is becoming a staple with me with year! I just leave it by my basic supplies!! Accents are Black Vintage Brads & Wide Black Grosgrain ribbon. Pretty quick & easy. Need to try again with a different image & DSP!

Lovely as a Tree MojoMaria

Next up for me last night was the MojoMaria sketch, the second of the week.

This is a set I don't use often enough, but I must have been in the mood for fall. Probably because it's been feeling like that around here! Card base is Soft Suede. I stamped the leaf image around the edges in Soft Suede. Top Note is cut from the Autumn Traditions DSP. Happy Birthday from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set was stamped above the tree image. A striped piece of Autumn Traditions DSP was scalloped on the edge and layered over the Top Note. Soft Suede ribbon, dots down goes across the Top Note. For the tree, I inked the image with Soft Suede & thumped it with Really Rust, Elegant Eggplant, More Mustard & Always Artichoke. After stamping on Very Vanilla, I used a blender pen to add More Mustard & Always Artichoke to fill in the tree. A fold of ribbon is attached to the side with a Vintage Brad.

That's it for now, off to work on the to-do list for the day. Maybe I'll make it back with a few more sketches, we'll have to see how it goes. Unfortunately, the list is long!!

Circle Circus Mojo100

I had a stamping night last night! Mojo Monday is celebrating their 100th sketch by posting a different sketch each day! I took the stack upstairs last night and had fun trying a couple.

First is the Mojo100 sketch. I used (for the first time!) the Circle Circus set. Card base is Elegant Eggplant. Whisper White is stamped with two different circle images, one in Crushed Curry, the other in Elegant Eggplant. The Crushed Curry scallop circle is from Textured Cardstock. My dear, kind & wonderful friend from the All Holidays set in Elegant Eggplant, on Whisper White. Edges are sponged with Crushed Curry and layered onto Elegant Eggplant. Crushed Curry polka-dot grosgrain under a Scallop Circle punch Elegant Eggplant with another image layered on. A large Filigree brad in the center for the final accent. Love these colors together & how quickly these sketches turn into cards!!
One more coming right up!

Autumn Splendor

Stamping time-YEAH!!! This was inspired by the Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch challenge. I love these sketch challenges to get you going when you're creatively challenged, or just out of practice!!

This is a sneak peak from the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog. Be watching your mail-it should be arriving soon-& it's packed full of GREAT new things!! This set is called Autumn Splendor, and the DSP is Autumn Meadows. They combined for a quick & easy card! The card base is Chocolate Chip, both backgrounds are DSP. The leaf is inked with Chocolate Chip, then thumped with Taken with Teal, More Mustard & Really Rust. They don't show alot due to the dark color of the Chocolate Chip, but the color flecks are there. I colored in the vein on the leaf with my More Mustard marker. Kind Thanks is from the Thank you Kindly set. Ribbon is the 1" Double Stitched grosgrain in Chocolate. Lastly, a Build a Brad with punch from the DSP Taken with Deal pattern sheet.

Back to Stampin'

AWOL blogger reporting back for active duty! Sorry for the long delay. There is just too much to do in life, and I have trouble making stamping a priority unless it's something I HAVE to do! Luckily, I had a swap due last week, & club on Thursday evening, so you'll see a few posts appearing in the next few days!

First up is this card made using the new Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder for the Big Shot. Card base is Rich Razzleberry, next layer is Whisper White. Main layer is a sheet of dotted Cottage Wall DSP that I ran through the Big Shot with the Folder. Then I sanded off the top of the raised image using a Sanding Block to reveal the white core of the paper. Really fun! The butterfly is punched from a different sheet of Cottage Wall DSP. I added a half pearl from the Pretties kit to jazz him up. I also scored the butterfly in the center and folded lightly. Curl his wings lightly around a pencil or marker to give it some dimension! The ribbon is the Rich Razzleberry polka-dot grosgrain. Thank You is from the Oval All, stamped in Rich Razzleberry on two different prints of Cottage Wall DSP. The white layer is punched with the Large Oval, the Orchid layer punched with the Scallop Oval. The dots on the butterfly & scallop were colored in with the Rich Razzleberry marker. Use a dimensional on the top & bottom of the oval to adhere your oval. Quick & easy card!

Thanks for stopping by-see you here again SOON!!

Razzle Dazzle Mojo 97

Finally-I got a Mojo Monday sketch done-just in time for the new one to be posted tomorrow! I like the way it came out too, after a little bit of a struggle on my part. Mainly because I haven't used my Circle Scissor much, and it's a challenge in a room as messy as mine! Once again I used some new things though-the Circle Scissor, Razzle Dazzle set & the Razzleberry Lemonade DSP.

Card base is Melon Mambo-love that new color! Background layers are DSP from the Razzleberry Lemonade set. The Melon Mambo polka-dot ribbon is dots down across the layer. Scallop circle cut from Melon Mambo with the Big Shot. Main image on Whisper White, cut with the Circle Scissor. Razzle Dazzle image colored with Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry & Rich Razzleberry markers. Saying from the Upsy Daisy set punched with the new Modern Label punch. Buttons are Summer Sun Corduroy. Corner punch is Rich Razzleberry. I sponged around the main image and saying with Crushed Curry.

Break times over, back to work on something around the house, maybe dinner!

Wall Flower

I thought I would try a sketch tonight and I instantly had an idea when I saw last week's Mojo Monday sketch laying on my couch. Didn't realize it was last weeks, thought it was this weeks, but that's OK. I got a card done, and tried a couple new things! I still have tomorrow to do this weeks challenge & get it uploaded!

This is a 5" square card. I don't do those often, but it fit this sketch perfectly! Card base is Whisper White, with a 4-3/4 panel of Old Olive layered on. Layered onto that are strips of a stripe print from the Cottage Wall DSP, leaving the Old Olive showing in between. The Cottage Wall DSP combines Rich Razzleberry, Orchid Opulence & Old Olive. I cut flowers using the new Stampin' Up Flower Folds Bigz Die for the Big Shot using 3 different prints of the Cottage Wall DSP. In the center I added a Jumbo White Grommet & and Rhinestone Brad. The flowers are layered over a White Satin ribbon and a small "just for you" from the set Teeny Tiny Wishes was added in Rich Razzleberry at the very bottom.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope your weekend is going well! See you soon!!
