ColorLab12

Thursday again! Grab your Lab Coat-here we go with another ColorLab Color Challenge!!! I had fun making this one the other night, stretching my creativity to get something to work. Here is the inspiration with the colors:

Rich Razzleberry, Basic Black & Pumpkin Pie!!

I had to stretch my creativity because I don't have any of the fun new Halloween sets and these colors say Halloween to me. Actually, I think I only have 2 Halloween sets period! For some reason I didn't order any this year. Oh, well! I made do and really like how this one came out. While studying my catalog and debating between this set, Autumn Harvest, and the other set I have, Batty for You, I decided I liked the layout of the sample card with the Autumn Harvest set (page 27) and decided to run with that.

Card base is Rich Razzleberry and the front was textured in the Big Shot with the Finial Press embossing folder, then spritzed with Basic Black & Rich Razzleberry. I stamped the two pumpkins and 3 leaves in Basic Black on Naturals Ivory, colored and cut them out. The leaves were spritzed with a little bit of Basic Black.  Behind the image is a piece of Naturals Ivory that was spritzed with all 3 colors. I attached the pumpkins and leaves with dimensionals. Next I added the saying at the top also with dimensionals, Happy Halloween from All Holidays. The words were stamped in Pumpkin Pie on Naturals Ivory, spritzed (of course!!) with Razzleberry, and layered on a Modern Label of Rich Razzleberry.  After everything was on the Ivory panel, I tore it across the top above the saying and images and sponged the torn edge with Pumpkin Pie. Then I layered it onto a piece of Basic Black, the same width but left an accent strip at the bottom. Across the top I tore the Black and tried to match the "pattern" to the Naturals Ivory. At the very bottom of the Basic Black is a strip of Pumpkin Pie showing, punched with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch. I attached this decorated panel to the card front, and added a Mini Library Clip with a piece of 1/8" Black Taffeta knotted around.

My explanation seems complicated, but it wasn't to make.  It went together very well and didn't take a very long time!  Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll drop by the ColorLab and play along!!

Just Believe Friends

Made some creative time tonight to play along with the Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch.  It has been awhile since I did their sketch even though I always want too!  Here is the sketch

And here is what I came up with!

Love this DSP and the colors so that was my starting point! Elegant Soiree DSP featuring Soft Suede, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake & Basic Gray.  My card base is Soft Suede, background Baja DSP print.  Strip of the graphic/dotted Vanilla print on a Crumb Cake strip that I used the Scallop Trim Border punch on. Very Vanilla Satin ribbon around the center, knotted on the right side.  Branch image in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla with a Baja 'friends' top left.  A few pearls on the lower right corner of the main image and on the left side under the ribbon (hard to see in the scan). The hardest part of this one was picking the stamp to use for the main image!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Autumn Harvest Hello Friend

Hello Friends! I made another Fall card last night and decided it was time to use a set other than the leaves! I saw this one in my stack the other day and didn't use it, but went right back to it tonight for the Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch that I was playing along with. This was one of those that took longer than it should have to put together, but I was watching TV and not focusing! Here is what I came up with!

Card base is Early Espresso. Background layer is Crumb Cake that I first put through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Folder. After texturing, I sponged the edges with Pumpkin Pie and Spritzed it with Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso & Crumb Cake. The images were stamped on Naturals Ivory in Early Espresso, then colored with a Blender Pen and Classic Ink. Pumpkins are Pumpkin Pie, the leaves Early Espresso & the gourd (or squash?) is Crumb Cake. I did add a little Pumpkin Pie marker as well on the pumpkins. I also Spritzed this layer, with Crumb Cake & Early Espresso, mostly around the edges. This is layered onto Pumpkin Pie. I was looking for something different for the saying, so I grabbed the Fundamental Phrases set and the Stamp-a-ma-jig and put Hello Friend together on the Small Oval punch. The Small Oval is layered on a Large Espresso Oval and attached with dimensionals over a 1/8" Taffeta ribbon in Early Espresso.  The 1-1/4" Espresso Striped Grosgrain was attached to the Crumb Cake, behind the Pumpkin layer.

Thanks for stopping by, I'm off to see if I can be productive today!

Another 3D Ornament

The last card from Club last weekend was this one, using the same layout as my swap card previously posted. I changed the DSP for this one and love how it came out!

This card uses one of the prints from the Deck the Halls DSP pack. Crumb Cake with Always Artichoke & Cherry Cobbler. Card base is Always Artichoke. Scallop Square cut with the Scallop Square Duo Die.  Inset square of Very Vanilla. Scallop border punched on Cherry Cobbler Cardstock and attached near the bottom. Always Artichoke Seam Binding Ribbon across it, attached to Sticky Strip.

A view more from the side so you can see the dimension the ornament has. Remember that is 3 punched ornaments together to give that effect. Click over to THIS POST for a detailed explanation on the ornament and how I attached the Seam Binding ribbon to get a uniform look.  Let me know if you have any questions!

I also wanted to mention that I will be using this set, Contempo Christmas, for the upcoming Royal Blog Tour November 5-8. Mark your calenders and plan to spend some serious time with your computer going through all 70+ blogs!!  I will have Blog Candy to win during the tour, as will many other stops along the way.  Also the Jester will be popping up at some point, so stay tuned! Fun fun!!

Poppy Cottage Garden

Two challenges in one card tonight, needed as much direction as possible! Long couple days with not feeling 100%, but needed some creative time tonight. This card is for the Paper Players sketch challenge and the Color Q color challenge of the week. Here is what I came up with:

Card base is Poppy Parade, background is Peach Parfait DSP. The set used is Cottage Garden. Scallop Circles in Poppy Parade, with 1-3/8" color punches & 1-1/4 white circle punches under a flower. I mixed up the three colors, Old Olive, So Saffron & Peach Parfait between the flowers & background circles. In the center of each flower is a Glimmer Brad in Poppy Parade from the Holiday Mini. My first use of them and how fun are they!!! The saying was stamped in Poppy on Whisper White. Over the saying I added some flowers in So Saffron & Peach Parfait after stamping them off once to lessen their intensity. The saying was punched with the Scallop Oval punch and layered on the Punch Window Scallop Oval in Old Olive. A Poppy Parade ribbon is behind the oval and between two of the scallop circles.  Love how these colors go together!

Thanks for stopping by!

ColorLab11

It's Thursday....Got your Labcoat???  Time to see what we can cook up in the ColorLab!! Here is the inspiration for the week

and here is what I came up with!

Not sure if this is the best set for the job, but I had a new set, Aviary, that NEEDED ink!!!

Card base is Early Espresso, background is Peach Parfait DSP in a dot pattern. The Top Note was cut from Sahara Sand. The cages were stamped in Early Espresso, birds in Peach Parfait and Garden Green. The first thing I did with the set, after mounting it, was to make Stamp-a-ma-jig templates with Vellum cardstock. I got the wood mounted set, so adding those to my stamp box guarantees stress free stamping each time I pull the set out!! The background DSP was sponged with Peach Parfait, the Top Note with Garden Green. Brads in Early Espresso were added at the 3 top points of the Top Note, and the saying from Teeny Tiny Wishes was stamped in Early Espresso on Sahara Sand, punched with the Small Oval, then sponged with Garden Green. I added a bird in Peach Parfait then layered in onto a Large Oval of Early Espresso .

Please play along!  And don't forget to upload your creation at The ColorLab!!

Concord French Foliage

The second Club card from the weekend, using yet again, French Foliage. By now I hope I've convinced all of you that you MUST have this set! It's so fun and easy to use! Everything comes out looking GREAT!!

The general layout of this card was cased from Splitcoast, and the colors are from the Color Coach. I knew I wanted to use purple, so I looked at the options for the various purples. I settled on this one using Concord Crush, Tangerine Tango & Daffodil Delight. Card base is Concord Crush with accent layers of Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango. Background layer is Very Vanilla that was stamped first with the Woodgrain background in Crumb Cake. Next I stamped the two larger leaves in Concord Crush, added the two in Tangerine, then the two in Daffodil. I added the tip of one more in Concord and it looked good to me! The splatter image from the set was stamped over the line of leaves in Crumb Cake. A Concord Crush ribbon was knotted around the bottom before adhering the Vanilla to the Tangerine. The saying from Teeny Tiny Wishes was stamped on Very Vanilla in Concord Crush and punched with the Small Oval punch. I stamped a Daffodil leaf over it, then layered the oval onto a Concord Crush Modern Label. Metallic brads were added to each end, then attached with dimensionals to the card.

Spider Web Spider

Card one from club yesterday, and it works for the Pals Paper Arts challenge this week, Halloween.. My hostess requested Halloween, and I realized I don't have very much anymore! I do however have the new Spider Web embossing folder and it needed to be used.

Card base is Tangerine Tango with a Whisper White layer behind the Basic Black. The Black had been put through the Big Shot with the Spider Web embossing folder. Then we gently dabbed the raised areas with Craft White ink to accent the web. Across the bottom is a white piece of grosgrain, under the new Raven Lace Trim, both are attached behind the black layer. The spider from the Batty For You set was stamped in black on Whisper White, punched with the 1-1/4 punch, layered on a 1-3/8" Basic Black circle and finally onto a Scallop Circle of Tangerine Tango. We added googlie eyes to the spider and attached with dimensionals over the ribbons.

3D Contempo Christmas Swap

Had a great stampin' day with my Club girls today! Always look forward to Club day. I will be sharing those cards in the coming days, but tonight I want to share a swap card I made this week. Inspired by a card I saw on Splitcoast (made by Natasha Zandbergen) it was perfect for the Christmas theme I was working with. I did two versions because of DSP, and here they are.

Same card, just different pattern of DSP background. Slight difference on the ribbon as well, which I will explain in a minute.

Card base is Cherry Cobbler, background layers are from the Jolly Holiday DSP pack. The scallop square is Old Olive cut with the new Scallop Square DUO die in the Holiday Mini. Inside the scallop square is a Very Vanilla square with the "Christmas is Love" saying stamped at the bottom in Cherry Cobbler. The ornament was made by stamping and punching 3 of the ornaments. Score each in the center and line them up side by side. Attach the center ornament to each ornament beside it by applying Snail adhesive to each side and lining up the ornament on that side. You should now have a dimensional ornament with two "flaps". When folded all the way open, you have one ornament on top, and two folded on each side. Below is a view more from the side so you can see what I'm trying to say! If this isn't clear, please let me know and I'll try to photograph putting one together. When you attach to the vanilla square, you should be attaching the left side of the left ornament, and the right side of the right ornament.

Near the bottom of the card is a strip of Old Olive that was punched with the Scallop border punch. I attached that to the DSP, then put a stick of Sticky Strip near the top. To this, I gathered a piece of Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding. Scroll back up and look at the difference in the two. The top one, I just manually did it, using my fingers trying to space it. It came out anything but uniform! Then I found a better way! I used the end of my stylus! Catch the binding on the left side with your finger, securing enough to the sticky strip that it will stay. Set the stylus down, push binding over it with your finger. You may have to pull back gently if your finger got more than you wanted stuck down. Don't go too tight either over the stylus, or the end won't pull out of your tuck. Repeat your way across the card. On these cards, I did not attach the binding to the back of the card, I cut it at the edge of the DSP.  In the future I will be catching them as these are starting to fray. You can go as dense as you like, or as spaced apart. More dense equals more ribbon and more time! I cut 12 inch pieces and didn't go very dense. Try a few, you'll see what you like! Let me know if you  have questions!

French Foliage Thanksgiving

I should be planning & prepping card for club tomorrow, but needed a little creative jump start so I took a little time to play! The Paper Players have a great color challenge this week (More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Old Olive & Early Espresso), and my card also works for the new SU!-Only Challenge, Fall.

Here is what I came up with, again using my "go to" Fall set this year, French Foliage.

Card base is Early Espresso. Background is Very Vanilla that was stamped with leave in Cajun Craze, Old Olive & Early Espresso. Then I used More Mustard to add the "splatter" image from the set- it fills in all the blank spaces! The background edge was sponged with Early Espresso. An Early Espresso satin ribbon is knotted around and under the saying. I used the new Scallop Squares Duo die to cut an Early Espresso square, layered on a Very Vanilla square. I then grabbed a clear block (C I think) and inked it with More Mustard. Over that I stamped the "Sending Thanksgiving Wishes..." from the Seasonal Sentiments set in Early Espresso. Lastly, I added a Cajun Craze leaf.  The Scallop Square is attached with dimensionals so it sits up over the ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by!

Corrected ColorLab10

Ok, finally, after a "me day" of sorts (nap, haircut, new shoes...), I made time to make a card with the colors posted today at the ColorLab!! I'm finding it interesting, 10 weeks into ColorLab challenges, how different colors direct the stamps that I choose. My first step is generally scanning stamp sets or the catalog to see what will work with the colors given. Fun fun!!!

OK, here again are the colors,

and here is what I did with them!

Once again, these colors said Fall to me. I'm really seeing these around here in Nebraska, the yellow especially. We had a field full of sunflowers last weekend, technically weeds, but they really looked neat!  Especially when hubby let the cows (mostly black Angus) out in there. Of course I didn't grab my camera, but they liked the sunflowers too-they are now all gone!

Anyway, for the card!  Base is Chocolate Chip. Top Note is Very Vanilla. The "shape" background is made by inking one of our clear blocks. Cool huh?  I remember when we had stamp sets that gave this same look.  Now I have a set of blocks so I can choose many different sizes! You'll be seeing more of these!! I inked the block (Block D?) with Crumb Cake and stamped in the upper center of the Top Note. I then inked the leaf from French Foliage in Daffodil Delight and thumped it with Poppy Parade and Chocolate Chip.  I stamped it once directly onto the Crumb Cake square, then repeated and stamped onto a scrap Very Vanilla. The second one I cut out, curled the leaf a little bit, and attached with dimensionals right over the directly stamped one. "friend to friend" from Teeny Tiny Wishes was stamped in Chocolate Chip in the lower corner of the block image. I sponged the edge of the Top Note first in Daffodil Delight with a Stamping Sponge rather heavily so that the color goes almost to the score line of the Top Note. Then I grabbed a Sponge Dauber for more controlled application and did Poppy Parade on the edge. Click to enlarge the photo if you want to see the detail closer!! Metallic brads were added at each point of the Top Note, and Daffodil Delight Taffeta ribbon tied around the bottom.

Thanks for stopping by here, hope you'll stop over by the ColorLab and play along!! Long week so far and work tomorrow, so I'm calling it a day. Happy Friday all!!!

ColorLab10

It's Thursday, ready for some color??  Time for another ColorLab Color Challenge. We in the lab had a little mix up this week, so my card doesn't quite match the colors posted!  I will try and make something different later today.  Here is the posted challenge:

The list, or picture I used to create had Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait and Pear Pizzazz, so this is what I came up with.

Mine definitely has a spring feel, where the posted colors look more like fall! Card base is Pear Pizzazz, background of Whisper White stamped with the Pretty Pattern background. I needed a little something else, so I spritzed it with Daffodil, Poppy & Peach. Butterflies from the Great Friend set stamped in each color and cut out. I scored each in the center and cured the wings lightly around my stylus so they have dimension.  Each is attached with a dimensional as well. Saying from the same set on layered ovals. Pear ribbon finished is off!

Thanks for stopping by, hope you'll swing over by the Lab and play along!

Fall Simply Adorned

Quick post this morning before dashing off to work. The weather wasn't cooperating last night so I wasn't able to post.  We had thunderstorms for hours!  Here is an insert for the 1-1/4" Simply Adorned Charm.  I'm doing these for the monthly swap group that I'm in.  Shows in the insert alone, and one in my necklace.  I'm wearing it to work today!!

I started with a rectangle of Naturals Ivory Cardstock.  Using the Autumn Days set, I first stamped the leaf in the center with Cajun Craze.  I masked the leaf, then stamped the multi-stemmed image in Always Artichoke on one side, then filled in with the single stem in So Saffron.  I sponged the edge with Cajun Craze then spritzed it heavily with Champagne Mist Shimmer Spray.

Celebration Favorite Flower

Another inspiration from the challenge over at Stampin' Celebration. Look at their inspiration piece and you'll see why I HAD to play along!!

Sunflowers!!  Here is what I came up with.

I started with my Daisies #2 Bigshot die and cut several different colors: Daffodil Delight, More Mustard and Cherry Cobbler. I knew I wanted more than one flower, and thought layering them together might work. I love a mix of colors too in my sunflowers and this is a good variety! I chose these colors based on the sunflowers I grow each summer. So, I layered together two of the medium size, then put two of the smaller of a different color, then an Antique Brad for the center. Card base is Early Espresso with a background of Naturals Ivory stamped with the Wonderfully Worn background. Espresso striped ribbon across the bottom with the "favorite" definition from Define Your Life, punched with the Wide Oval and layered on the new Decorative Label punch.

Season of Friendship Color

Another card for today!  I loved this HSS Color Splash challenge when I saw it earlier this week and knew I wanted to play along! More Fall colors-I'm really loving them this year, not sure why?! Maybe it's our new mix of colors!! Here is the inspiration piece:

Isn't that an inspiration??  Here is what I did with it:

The card base is Early Espresso. The background is an accent layer of Old Olive behind the Square Lattice textured Tangerine Tango. A Crumb Cake Top Note is the base for the main image. The tree was stamped first in Early Espresso, then leaves added in Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango & Old Olive. And one little bird in Espresso. I tied a Daffodil Delight Taffeta ribbon around the bottom and added the saying on Crumb Cake that was punched with the Modern Label punch and layered on the Punch Window of Old Olive.

Fast & Fabulous ColorQ

Tonight I played along with the weekly challenge over at ColorQ! Fun fun!! This card is dedicated to my dear friend Lisa who's birthday is today-know that I'm thinking of you and wish you weren't so far away!!

OK, here is the challenge photo with colors:

And here is what I came up with!

Hadn't used the Fast & Fabulous set for awhile, and blue flowers sounded like fun! All the blues are in there, but maybe not obviously! Card base is Night of Navy, background accent layer Soft Suede. I stamped the outline images first with the Soft Suede on the Whisper White. Then I did the small flower first, inking with Marina Mist and rolling the edge in Pacific Point. The large flower is Marina Mist rolled with Night of Navy, and the tall flowers are Pacific Point with Night of Navy. I sponged the edge of the Whisper White twice, once in Marina Mist more heave so that more color went onto the White, then again with Navy right at the edge for accent. The saying from Sincere Salutations was stamped in Soft Suede on Whisper White and punched with the Large Oval, then layered on a Navy scallop oval. I lightly stamped the small flower over the words. A satin ribbon in Night of Navy is tied across the bottom. It needed just a little something more, so I grabbed some glitter from the Fine Galaxy stack, Champagne I think, and added it to the center of flowers. Now, it's done!!

For You Flower

A quick card tonight for a "Clean & Simple" challenge over at The Paper Players. I had some new to me Striped Rich Razzleberry 1-1/4" Grosgrain that was just begging to be used!! I ended up with a monochromatic Rich Razzleberry card! Here is what I came up with.

I hadn't used this For You Flower stamp since Open Houses in July so it was time! Same for the Pretty Pattern background stamp. Card base is Rich Razzleberry, background is Very Vanilla stamped with the Pretty Pattern in Rich Razzleberry. 1-1/4" Razzleberry ribbon is knotted around the card. I knot seemed somewhat funky, so I poked an Antique Brad through as an accent and to hide the know. The flower was stamped twice in Rich Razzleberry on Vanilla. The first time I punched out the flower with the Fancy Flower punch, and the second time just the center with the 1-3/8" circle punch. Even with the tone on tone, doing that gives it a little extra dimension. I attached the center to the flower with dimensionals, and the flower to the layers behind it also with dimensionals.

That's it!!  Enjoy.

ColorLab9

Here we go again, another week gone!!!  Seems the only stamping I'm getting done is the "have to" stamping!  But it felt good tonight so hopefully I'll be motivated to make it back upstairs soon!  OK, on to the Colors of the week! Thursday means another ColorLab Color Challenge!  Hope that you'll play along too!!

Here is the challenge:

MORE MUSTARD, BAJA BREEZE &
 CHOCOLATE CHIP

Here is what I did with it!

Thinking Fall again tonight, maybe because we've been feeling a bit of that here in Nebraska!! French Foliage is the set, with the 'thanks' from Thank You Kindly. Card base is Chocolate Chip with background accent of Baja Breeze then More Mustard. A Top Note cut from Naturals Ivory has been stamped with the leaves from the set in the 3 colors. After the leaves I added a few of the splatter image with Baja & Mustard. I also grabbed my Spritzer Tool and added just a touch of Chocolate Chip. The Mustard background also has the splatter image stamped around the edge (in Mustard, some full strength, some off once) and Chocolate Chip spritzed ink. The edge of the Top Note was sponged with Chocolate Chip. The 'thanks' was punched with the Large Oval punch, layered onto a More Mustard scallop punch oval, then onto a Baja Breeze Punch Window scallop oval. The 'thanks' has some Mustard splatter images and a sponged Chocolate Chip edge.  For accent I added a piece of the Victoria Crochet Trim and two Antique Brads.

That's it for me tonight!  Hope to be back soon!!!

ColorLab 8

Wow, another week gone, but that means it's time for another challenge over at the ColorLab! I think this one has lots of possibilities, but of course I waited til the last minute so didn't have time to explore many!!

BLUSHING BRIDE, CONCORD CRUSH, CERTAINLY CELERY, SAHARA SAND & VERY VANILLA!

Flowers came to mind as the best way to get all the colors in, so I reached for Flower Fancy. But then I still struggled with Sahara Sand. I worked it in though, can you see it?? Card base is Concord Crush, background is Very Vanilla. I stamped the large flower first, the center in Blushing Bride, outlined in Concord Crush. I added a few leaves with Certainly Celery by stamping the inside (solid) image first off once, then the outline image full strength. Remember, you always have two colors in each ink pad!! Next I added the small flowers, some solid Concord Crush with solid Certainly Celery leaves, and some outline Concord Crush with outline Certainly Celery leaves. To color the center of the small flowers, I grabbed a pencil on my desk and inked the eraser. Perfect!! Now comes the Sahara Sand. I used my Spritzer Tool and Sahara Sand marker and to give it some splatter! Just enough to fill in the plain areas. And I sponged the edges also with Sahara Sand. The saying is from All Holidays and is stamped in Concord Crush on Very Very Vanilla with 3 small Blushing Bride flowers for accent. Certainly Celery satin ribbon is knotted around the background under the saying.
