Sketch Frenzy Friday 112610

Happy Friday all! I'm off to work today for a while, hope those of you that went shopping early early found great deals! Here is my creation this week for the Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge:

It is based on the following sketch by Tammy Baldwin. We hope you'll play along with us this week! Take a break from the shopping & stamp a little!!

Mine came out sort of Vintage-I like it! I decided on the set, Simple Friendship, first, knowing I could use the butterfly where the diamond was. Then I picked up the Color Coach to look for a color combo. I knew I had "it" when I landed on this one: Poppy Parade, Baja Breeze & So Saffron.

Card base is Poppy Parade. The background layer of So Saffron was stamped with the flourish image in So Saffron. The panel on the left of Very Vanilla was stamped with the flowers in Baja Breeze & So Saffron and layered on Baja Breeze. A Poppy Parade ribbon is attached around the background layer. The saying is stamped in Poppy Parade on Very Vanilla with one small So Saffron flower for accent. The butterfly was stamped in Poppy on Very Vanilla and cut out. I folded him gently in the middle and curled the wings slightly. It doesn't show in the scan but he's almost "popping" off the card in real life! He's attached with dimensionals just in the center to add to that effect.

As usual, you can click over the the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog anytime to link your creation. Or, click HERE  to continue our Mini Tour with Kim's blog. Happy Thanksgiving!

It's Thursday, but no ColorLab challenge this week. We're taking the week off for the Holiday! Hope you're all having a great one with family &/or friends!!  I decided to go ahead with a card, and I used the Color Tool to come up with a color combination. I will say, I should have stopped with 4 because 5 is really tough to work in! I guided it a little towards fall colors, then picked the one I liked best from the options that came up. The colors I ended up with are here

And, here is what I came up with. I'm not 100% happy with it, but it's OK.

Card base is Early Espresso that was textured with the Vintage Wallpaper. The Top Note was cut from Naturals Ivory and stamped with the images from Pocket Silhouettes in the 5 colors selected. I added Metallic brads at the 3 top points, a Wide Early Espresso striped ribbon gathered with a narrow Daffodil Delight Taffeta ribbon, and a saying from Teeny Tiny Wishes on layered ovals.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hope you had a GREAT day and didn't eat too much :) Come back by tomorrow for Sketch Frenzy Friday!

Thanksgiving Wishes

I keep using these two sets in combination, but they keep fitting the challenges and themes I need! Probably not for much longer as Winter is setting in more and more and Fall will be fading away! Last night I created several of this card which fits last week's ColorQ challenge (now closed but I really liked the look of the colors) and this week's Stamping 411 Sketch.

Pretty quick card, as I said I made several, in just about an hour and a half, and that included the "creation" time. Card base is Rich Razzleberry, background is Naturals White. I stamped the leaves from French Foliage in Pumpkin Pie, More Mustard & Old Olive and then added Rich Razzleberry "splatters". The edges are sponged in Razzleberry as well. The saying from Seasonal Sentiments was stamped on another piece of Naturals White card stock, in Razzleberry, with a More Mustard leaf. It's layered on Rich Razzleberry and attached with dimensionals over the Rich Razzleberry grosgrain with is tied around the background layer.

Thanks for stopping by! Safe travel wishes to you of you traveling for the Holiday! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!

Celebrate New Baby

Here is my most recent swap creation. Our theme choice was Baby or Masculine, I went with Baby!

I've realized lately that I don't have much to choose from in the Baby stamps category, but luckily Fox & Friends works when combined with words from Fundamental Phrases. This is another of the square cards. Card base is Very Vanilla that sits on the back of the Baja Scallop Square. The Vanilla background square was stamped with animals in Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi & So Saffron. The squares in the middle are the Scallop Square punch and the smaller square on the Scallop Squares Duo Die. Pretty quick and easy really!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 111910

Happy Friday all! Ready for another Sketch Frenzy Friday?!? Here is the sketch for this week:

And, here is what I came up with!

Since I had the Candy Cane Christmas DSP, coordinating colors, & A Cute Christmas out from creating my ColorLab card yesterday, I used them again for this card!

Card base is Real Red, background layer of Whisper White behind strips of DSP. I stamped the images on a horizontal strip of Whisper White and accented them with the markers in coordinating colors (Real Red, Baja Breeze, Garden Green & Blushing Bride). That strip is layered onto a slightly larger piece of Baja Breeze. The bottom of the Baja Breeze layer was punched with the Scallop Trim Border punch. The card seemed a little plain at this point, but then I saw the Clear Tinsel Trim laying nearby! Just the final touch that was needed!

ColorLab19

Thursday! Again?!? I'm really NOT ready for it to be Thanksgiving already next week, but the calendar just keeps on ticking days by! Guess I better get ready!! I have sort of switched away from Fall mode on the stamping this week, into Holiday (Christmas) mode. Julie helped with that by giving us the colors of the Candy Cane Christmas DSP for the Color Lab Challenge this week!

Garden Green, Baja Breeze, Blushing Bride & Real Red

I won't tell you that this paper & the coordinating stamp set, A Cute Christmas have been hanging out in my stamp room unused since my preorder arrived :). Guess it was finally time to brush the dust off and break them in!! Here is what I came up with:

I think this is the first time I've had the DSP that Julie has used for our challenge. I'm not sure this set is really "me", but I'm pretty happy with what I came up with! Card base is Real Red, background is Baja Breeze snowflake print DSP. In the center is the snowman image from Cute Christmas, stamped in Black Stazon and colored in with markers. Behind him are snowflakes in three colors, Garden Green, Baja Breeze & Blushing Bride. The snowflakes were cut with the Northern Frost Strip die in the Big Shot. Behind the snowflakes, for accent, is several pieces of the Clear Tinsel Trim. LOVE that stuff! One more snowflake at the bottom of the card behind the "have a cute Christmas" saying. The saying was stamped in Real Red and punched with the new 3/4' x 15/16' Oval Punch. Mini glue dots & dimensionals hold the flakes & images on the card front.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope that you'll stop by the ColorLab and play along!! We LOVE to see what you come up with!!

Navy Christmas Collage

Card two, created by my downline Gwen, from Club over the weekend-a quick and easy Christmas card. Just what I've been needing! I have no idea yet what my cards are going to be this year!

Card base is Night of Navy. Background image is the Christmas Collage set. We inked the stamp with a circle mask over the '25' that is normally where you see the skaters. We took the mask off and stamped on our cardstock. Those of us that were good (not me!) got the full rectangle image near the top fully on the card. I missed! We then used another mask (a piece of copy paper with a circle punched in it) to stamp the skaters in the circle. The edges of the background were sponged with Night of Navy ink. Around the circle we put Crystal Effects and then Champagne Glass Glitter. We tied a Victoria Crochet Trim ribbon around the bottom and attached to our card base. At the top we attached with dimensionals the "Merry Christmas" that we had stamped in Night of Navy and punched with the Modern Label punch.

Another great,  yet quick and easy card! Perfect for this crazy Season!!

Razzleberry Elements of Style

My Club Group met on Sunday, and for once I got to just sit and be one of the stampers. One of my downline, Gwen, did the demonstrating! Yeah Gwen!! Here is the first awesome card we made!

Card base is Rich Razzleberry. Background is Whisper White that we stamped the floral image from Elements of Style on in Rich Razzleberry. Then we textured it with the Square Lattice folder in the Big Shot! I've done so many leaves this way, but haven't looked beyond them to see what other stamps will work. This one is perfect! Across the bottom we tied a White Taffeta Ribbon. The saying is stamped with Rich Razzleberry on Whisper White, punched with the Decorative Label punch and layered on a 2nd Decorative label in Rich Razzleberry that was split in half. When you do split the Decorative Label, trim the points of the side or they'll peak out in places you don't want them!!

Isn't that neat? Very elegant and very quick to make!

Workshop Contempo Christmas

Here is the second workshop card from recent events. I like these little square cards-something different!

This is the same layout as the one I did for the Royal Blog Tour but all in Cherry Cobbler. The DSP is from the Jolly Holiday pack also. The card base is Very Vanilla that you can't see, it sits just inside the square scallops on the back of the card. The largest Cherry Cobbler square is cut with the Scallop Square die. It measures just around 4-1/2". Layered next is a Cherry Cobbler print from the Jolly Holiday DSP pack. Next the larger scallop square from the Scallop Squares Duo die in the Holiday Mini. Inside that is a square of Very Vanilla cardstock that we stamped the saying at the very bottom in Cherry Cobbler. The ornament is 3D as I've done before, I just scanned it flat. See this post if you want more detail on that. Across the top of the Vanilla square we attached a piece of Silver Tinsel Trim, then put a piece around the top of the ornament as well. Love that Tinsel Trim!! Pretty simple card!

Thanks for stopping by today! Oh, don't forget this set, Contempo Christmas combined with the Jolly Holiday DSP as one of the special bundles right now! Buy both and get them 20% off! Workshop Foliage Card

I've had two recent workshops, and chose to do the same two projects at each! Much easier prep time!! Here is the first one, using guess which set??

French Foliage! I really like this background technique of stamping, then texturizing in the Big Shot. This color combo is from the Color Coach: Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie & Old Olive. I added in a little Sahara Sand. The leaves were stamped randomly for the background, then the entire background stamped with the "splatter" image from this set with the Sahara Sand. Fills in the blank areas and adds to the texture. The edge of the background was also sponged with Sahara Sand. Texture provided by the Square Lattice embossing folder. The main image is done by inking a clear block (C I think!) with Sahara Sand and stamping with it. The leaf in Pumpkin Pie was added, and the verse from Seasonal Sentiments in Rich Razzleberry. The Razzleberry satin ribbon is tied around the background before adhering to card base. The focal image once stamped is mounted on a Scallop Square of Old Olive and attached to card base with dimensionals over ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by today!

My new regular Friday Feature, the Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch of the week! The fun part for you, along from the sketch to play along with, is that all the members link their blogs together. You can click your way through all our creations!  Fun!!  Here is the sketch for the week, brought to us by Ros Davidson.

And, here is what I came up with!

Card base is Basic Black, background is Rich Razzleberry textured with the Finial Press embossing folder in the Big Shot. A Rich Razzleberry wide grosgrain ribbon is attached around the background. The images are from the Level 2 Hostess set, Fast & Fabulous and stamped on Very Vanilla, layered on Basic Black. I stamped the three outline images in Basic Black, then used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to align the center perfectly with Rich Razzleberry. "Thank You" from Thank You Kindly is stamped in Rich Razzleberry over the stems near the bottom of the Very Vanilla. That's it!

ColorLab18

Thursday! Again!?! Well, get your Lab coat and play along!! Here is the ColorLab inspiration this week:

Cajun Craze, Old Olive, More Mustard & Early Espresso

And, here is what I did with it!

I decided to break out of my Fall rut and do something different, even though these colors said Fall! I think our Fall days here in Nebraska are numbered! Anyway, card base is Early Espresso. The Very Vanilla background was stamped first in Early Espresso with the Sanded background stamp. Then I spritzed More Mustard, Cajun Craze & Old Olive on it. A strip of Espresso goes across the middle as an accent for the friends from Fox & Friends. I alternated the colors of the scallops and animals, and spritzed the Vanilla circle a little as well. I really don't like cutting out things much, but sometimes ya just gotta! The animals don't fit the right size circle punch to layer on the Scallop Circle. The animals are attached with dimensionals. The saying is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. It's stamped on Vanilla with Early Espresso and spritzed before layering onto a More Mustard Modern Label. Metallic brads accent the edges.

Make sure you stop by the ColorLab and play along with us! We love to see what you come up with!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 110510

I have a new regular stamping gig and I'm very excited! I've joined the Sketch Frenzy Friday group and will be playing along each Friday with their sketch, starting this Friday. I decided to play along with last week's to get my mojo back after a weekend off and a crazy week this week!

Here is the sketch:

and here is what I did with it!

I got out the Baroque Motifs set which I haven't used in quite some time! Card base is Soft Suede textured. The strip on the side is from the Elegant Soiree DSP pack. A Baja Breeze layer is behind the center image Very Vanilla piece. I stamped the flourish image in Soft Suede and added Baja flowers. Some flowers I stamped directly, some I cut out and added a Vintage Trinket button brad to. The flowers are attached with Mini Glue Dots. "Cherish" was stamped in Soft Suede at the very bottom of the Soft Suede. Quick and easy!

My lunch hour is passing quite quickly, so I'll edit in the shopping list tonight. And I'll be posting my Blog Candy winner then too from the Royal Blog tour! Make sure you stop back by!!

Royal Blog Tour-Contempo Christmas

This was my post for the Royal Blog Tour. The links are now gone, the Blog Candy drawing is closed. You may visit the Royal Blog Tour site for one month to see the list of castles if you missed the tour!

Welcome to my Castle!! I'm so glad you accepted our invitation for this wonderful adventure! I am featuring samples using the Contempo Christmas set which is found on page 45 of the Idea Book & Catalog. I have also combined it in a few instances with the Jolly Holiday DSP. Don't forget this is one of the Bundle Specials that SU! has out right now! And, if that bundle interests you, make sure you read all the way through my post and find the Blog Candy at the bottom! Now, on to the fun!

First up is this fun Scallop Square card. The base of the card is actually a Very Vanilla square card that you can't see, it sits just inside the scallops on the back. The Old Olive square was cut with the Scallop Square die. I attached a square of the stripe print from the Jolly Holiday DSP and then attached another Scallop Square, this one cut with the new Scallop Squares Duo Die. Inside that is a Very Vanilla Square with the saying stamped at the bottom and Silver Tinsel attached across the top. The Ornament is 3D, made by punching 3 ornaments, scoring in the center and attaching together. I tied a small piece of Silver Tinsel around the top, added MANY Rhinestones and Dazzling Diamonds glitter. The ornament is attached with Mini Glue Dots.

Next up is this Side-step card. I highly suggest trying one of these if you haven't! They aren't near as tricky as they look. I included two views of this one so you can see the steps on the side and how I added the extra items to them. This is regular card size when folded down so it will fit in a regular envelope.

Card base is Cherry Cobbler, cut and scored to be a Side Step. The large panel has a Metallic Gold Layer behind Very Vanilla. The Vanilla was stamped with two Trees in Cherry Cobbler before I added a third in the center that was heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder. I also added Sticky Strip across the top and bottom and applied Champagne Glass Glitter. Love that stuff! The side steps have the greeting on the front, and three ornaments with lovely little Vanilla Taffeta ribbons. The center ornament was embossed, the other two are Cherry Cobbler.

Next we have a quick and easy card of Glittery trees! Card base is Old Olive. Background is the small dotted print from the Jolly Holiday DSP. I used the Scallop Trim Border Punch across the bottom. For the trees, I stamped them first on a strip of Very Vanilla, alternating Old Olive & Cherry Cobbler. Next I inked the entire strip of Very Vanilla with Versamark and applied Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder. Heat and you have wonderful iridescent trees! The trees are layered on Cherry Cobbler and I added a small Rhinestone to the star of each tree. That's it!

Finally, this Ornament Trimmings card. Card base is Cherry Cobbler, background is the wide stripe print from the Jolly Holiday DSP. I cut a Top Note from Very Vanilla and stamped the evergreen tree from Lovely as a Tree sideways on it, trying to just get the top, not the bottom, so that it would like like branches. Then I strung Silver Tinsel Trim across it three times. I added 3 Silver Glitter brads at the 3 top points of the Top Note. The Ornaments were stamped on Very Vanilla and punched with the Ornament Punch. I tied a small strip of Tinsel around each and attached with Dimensionals. The saying was stamped in Cherry Cobbler, punched with the Modern Label and layered onto a Modern Label Punch Window cut of Cherry Cobbler.

Whew! You made it!! Ready for your reward?? Below is the Blog Candy!! Did you guess it?? A Contempo Christmas Set (clear) and Jolly Holiday DSP! All you need to do is email me your name and address and you are entered! In case the link isn't working, the email address is jennifer@sunflowerstamper.com. Comments are welcome here at the Castle of course, but they don't qualify you for the goods! Email me!

The drawing is now closed and a winner has been contacted. Thank you!

Thanks for stopping by! I'll hope you'll visit again soon! Visitors are always welcome-it doesn't have to be a Royal Occasion! If you have any questions on the projects above, email me! Thanks again!

Top Three at Stampin' Celebration!

Toot toot! Just got word that my button card made the top 3 at Stampin' Celebration! Always a special treat!!  Here is the card again, original post and details here.

ColorLab17

Thursday again, got your Lab Coat? Another great ColorLab Color Challenge this week! Made me think Fall again! Or, maybe I'm trying to keep Winter at bay and keep Fall around!! Here are the Colors & Inspiration:

How could you not think Fall? Bravo Burgundy, Daffodil Delight, Chocolate Chip & Very Vanilla! Love it!  Here is what I came up with! Oh, I swear, I tried not to use this set, but couldn't help it! Click the picture to enlarge and see the full detail!

Yep, French Foliage again! But, a very different look this time! I did some rock-n-roll on this one! I inked all the leaves with Daffodil Delight & rolled them in Bravo Burgundy. The cool thing is that every leaf comes out different! My Bravo Burgundy tends to look a little brown, not sure if that's because I used it with yellow & browns, or if it just looks that way! It's been a very long time since I've used this color!! Anyway, after stamping the leaves, I added "splatters" of Chocolate Chip, some full strength, some off once. After stamping the background I ran it through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice embossing folder. It came out a little different than I expected, maybe more muted? Again, click to enlarge to see the detail! For the saying, I stamped the words from Hope Happens in Chocolate Chip on Vanilla and then added a rock-n-rolled leaf. I punched the saying with the Decorative Label punch and added a Bravo Burgundy layered punch behind it. On the side of the label I added a Metallic Brad. I tied a Daffodil Delight Taffeta ribbon around the background, layered it onto Chocolate Chip and attached to the Bravo Burgundy card base. Dimensionals adhere the label to the card base.

Now, on to the projects! I used items from the Holiday Mini for all my projects!

First up is this fun card featuring the French Foliage set and using the Emboss Resist technique. Very doable in a workshop setting! Card base is Cherry Cobbler. The background is Naturals Ivory Card Stock that I first stamped leaves on with Versamark and embossed with Clear powder. I sponged ink over the leaves in Early Espresso, More Mustard and Cherry Cobbler. I also sponged Early Espresso around the outside edge. I tied a Satin Early Espresso ribbon around the center of the background and attached to the card base. For the saying, I first stamped the staying from Seasonal Sentiments in Espresso on Naturals Ivory. I then stamped the roundish leaf with Versamark and embossed with Clear powder. I sponged some More Mustard ink over it, then a little Cherry Cobbler for more definition. Espresso was sponged around the edge before layering on Cherry Cobbler and attaching with dimensionals over the ribbon. I love this technique and it's always a hit!!

Next up is this card using the Christmas Postcard stamp from the Holiday Mini. Now, all who know me well know I am not a fan of coloring!  But, what I did on this ended up working quite well and NOT being stressful! The card base is Early Espresso that I textured with the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder. Next I cut two Oval Scallop Frames with the Big Shot, one in Cherry Cobbler, one in Naturals Ivory. I kept the Cherry frame and Ivory oval. I textured the frame also with the Peals-a-Plenty folder. On the oval, I stamped my image with Early Espresso Craft Ink and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. For some reason, this makes it easier to color. Giving the image definition I think is part of it. I used a blender pen and Classic ink to color: Cherry Cobbler for the Holly Berries, Poinsettias & ribbon, More Mustard for the bells, and Always Artichoke for the Holly leaves and pine boughs. The oval is attached directly to the center of the card, the Cherry oval around it with dimensionals.

Next up is this fun card! It really sparkles in real life, but goes together quite quick! The card base is Real Red. Background is Shimmery White that was embossed with the Northern Flurry folder in the Big Shot. To the embossing I added glimmer brads in Real Red to the smaller snowflakes. To the large snowflake, I added a Real Red button from the Candy Cane Big Designer Button set. The button has Clear Tinsel Trim tied in the center. A Real Red Satin ribbon is knotted around near the bottom, also with Clear Tinsel trim tied around the knot. The "dec 25" if from the Tags til Christmas set and was stamped in Real Red on Shimmery white and punched with the fabulous new Decorative Label punch. I punched two more labels from Real Red to mat the Shimmery White one. The labels are applied with dimensionals to sit over the ribbon. Quick, easy and WOW!! and, just about any color would work!

Lastly, I decided on a non-traditional color for a Christmas Card. Purple is a favorite of mine so I grabbed Elegant Eggplant. Someday I would love to have a tree decorated in this color!! Card base is Elegant Eggplant, background is Very Vanilla stamped in Elegant Eggplant with the Christmas Collage background stamp. The scallop square of Elegant Eggplant was cut with the new Scallop Squares Duo die. A square of Very Vanilla sits inside that, with a strip of Champagne Glass Glitter across the top and bottom.  Quick and easy-just put Sticky Strip across the top and bottom and apply the glitter! The ornament is 3D which is also quick and easy to do! Stamp 3 ornaments on Very Vanilla with Eggplant and punch with the Ornament punch. Score each down the middle and attach together. You have one in the center, it looks flat from the front, and one on each side. Attach to the Vanilla layer with glue dots and it's done.

Button Birthday

I had a little fun with this challenge from Stampin' Celebration this week.  Here is the inspiration

And here is what I did! I had visions of candy in bright colors running through my head, so I reached for my Bright Buttons and came up with this:

Card base is textured Rich Razzleberry. In the center of a Whisper White Top Note I inked the "Live, Laugh, Love.." from On Your Birthday with my markers in a multi-color fashion. then I pulled out two different buttons in all 6 colors, added white thread, and attached around the Top Note. Aside from thread tying and choosing the stamp for the center, a quick and easy card!!

Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget the SUDSOL Blog Tour tomorrow-make sure you stop back by!!
