Sketch Frenzy Friday 022511

Friday! May be a rough start at my house as we've had a bit of a blizzard Thursday! Can't tell for sure if it's still snowing, or just blowing! Anyway, the good news is that Friday means another Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge!

Here is my creation of the week:

based on this sketch brought to us by Tammy Fite.

I decided to use my new set, Morning Cup, and the coordinating wheel, Take a Sip. My card base is Pear Pizzazz. Background is Peach Parfait that was wheeled with the Take a Sip wheel in Whisper White Craft Ink. The image panels are Whisper White on Concord Crush. I stamped the cups and coffee pot in Stazon Black and colored with the coordinating markers. Around the Peach Parfait I tied a Pear Pizzazz ribbon. The panels were mounted over it. Instead of the small square in the sketch, I added a Pear Pizzazz button with White Grosgrain ribbon knotted in the center.

Thanks for stopping by. Continue on our mini tour by clicking HERE to see what Kim as come up with this week. Remember, all members blogs and the main Sketch Frenzy Friday blog are linked in my right side bar.

ColorLab30

Thursday again!! This week's ColorLab colors were a true challenge for me, but I really like what i ended up with! Here are the colors

Pink Pirouette, Wild Wasabi, Crumb Cake

Here is my card!

Card base is Crumb Cake. Background layer of Wild Wasabi was wheeled across the top and bottom in Wasabi with the Retro Remix wheel. The trees from Trendy Trees were stamped, using the Stamp-a-ma-jig, on Very Vanilla. Trunks are Crumb Cake, tree tops are Wild Wasabi and Pink Pirouette. The Very Vanilla is layered onto Crumb Cake so that you can just see the Scallop Trim Border. Behind the Crumb Cake scallops is a a layer of Pink Pirouette. "thinking of you" was stamped top left. On the right I added a clip from the Clips Assortment set. The ribbon tied to it is Very Vanilla that I drug across my Pink Pirouette pad. It actually looks a little more peachy than the Pink Pirouette. Maybe I got too much ink on it; I had put some ink on the pad just before I decided to do this. I also got impatient and put it on the card too soon. I have a few smudges and an ink blot under the ribbon. OOPS. Hopefully it isn't too noticable :(

Thanks for stopping by! Do stop over at the ColorLab and play along. I'm curious to see what others come up with for this combo!!

First Edition Birthday

The last card from Club-a quick and easy one!

Card base is Not Quite Navy that was embossed with the Framed Tulips folder. Set in the center is a piece of the First Edition DSP-love that stuff!!! On the background, we stamped the flower from Bliss after stamping off once to get a lighter impression. A Very Vanilla 5/8" Grosgrain is attached across the center. The main element is  Birthday Wishes from the Bring on the Cake set stamped full strength, with a Bliss butterfly stamped off once. That was punched with the decorative label punch. We punched two more Decorative Labels from Not Quite Navy and layered behind. Click the picture if you need to see it larger. Cut one of the NQN Lables in half horizontally, the other in half vertically. Snip off the center points on all and attach behind the Vanilla Label. Try it, you'll see it isn't hard at all!

Oh, also you can sponge the edges of the DSP and Vanilla layer if you want. I did that on my second sample and it looked just fine.

Square Framed Tulips

The second Club card of the weekend is another featuring the Framed Tulips embossing folder. And, this one has a different look! Square!!

My friend Jen at Stampin' on the Fly has a great tutorial for how you get this look. Stop over and take a peak! Start with card stock that is 4-1/8" square. Match it up at the top of the folder, then turn it and just do the bottom. Too cool!

The card base is Rose Red, cut 4-1/4 x 8-1/2. Folded to be a 4-1/4" square. The Framed Tulip layer is Very Vanilla, embossed as discussed above. After embossing, we used a sponge dauber and So Saffron ink to dab color onto the embossed images. Really makes them pop!! Set inside the embossing is a 3" square of Wild Wasabi. The top layer of Very Vanilla was stamped with the saying and two images. We inked with marker. The So Saffron was added carefully using the marker so as not to bleed the Rose Red too much. The edges of this layer were also sponged with the sponge dauber. A crinkly Rose Red Seam Binding ribbon is across the bottom. Or, if you don't want to crinkle, just knot it!

Can't wait to try some more of these! I've been seeing them all over but just haven't had time to play! Stop back tomorrow for the final club card, again using the Framed Tulip folder.

Concord Bliss Club Card

Finally some stamping happened here that wasn't for either of the Challenge teams I'm on! My Stamp Club group met yesterday so I HAD to come up with 3 cards! YEAH!! It was a little bit of a challenge. The less I stamp, the harder the creativity is to come by.

The first card I came up with was inspired by one done a while back by Dawn at DOstamping. I have been very drawn to purple cards lately, so this one jumped out at me! Here is my version.

We used the Framed Tulips folder on all three cards yesterday. Stop back by in the next few days to see the other options with it!

On this one, featuring the Bliss Sale-A-Bration set, the card base is Crumb Cake with an embossed Frame layer on top. Set into the frame is another Crumb Cake layer. We inked the large element with Crumb Cake then rolled the edges in Concord Crush. Across the bottom we layered striped Concord Crush DSP. Victoria Crochet Trim is knotted on the right side and an oval Bliss was added over the trim with dimensionals on the left side. The edges of the Crumb Cake on the background and the oval were sponged with Concord Crush. The butterfly was stamped in Concord Crush on Crumb Cake and cut out. We curled the wings over the Paper Piercer, added a small piece of dimensional to his back and attached him where desired. The final accent are some of the tiny pearls from the Jewels Basic Pearls set on the body of the butterfly and the flowers on the Bliss oval. Here's a product tip for these pearls: They are VERY tiny and hard to work with using just your fingers. The Paper Piercer is the perfect helper. It catches the glue dot on the bottom and allows you controlled placement-Try it!!

Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget Sale-A-Bration is in full swing! Free stamps (or other accessories) with EACH $50 purchase!! This is just one of the fabulous sets offered!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 021811

Friday! Wow these weeks zip by don't they?!?? The good news is there is another Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge! Make sure you take the tour and play along with us this week!! Here is my creation

based on this sketch brought to us by Tammy Baldwin.

Mine looks almost exactly like the sketch doesn't it? Not much creativity today I guess! The card base is Textured Soft Suede. The two DSP prints are from the Elegant Soiree pack and are layered onto Baja Breeze. The saying from Full of Life was stamped in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla and also layered onto Baja Breeze. The butterfly from Bliss was stamped over the letters in Baja Breeze. Four Baja Breeze Glimmer brads accent the right side.

ColorLab29

Thursday again! Time for another ColorLab Challenge! And challenge it was this week! I was somewhat stumped at first look, but like what I came up with!! Give it a shot!! Stop by the ColorLab and play along with us!!

RICH RAZZLEBERRY, PEAR PIZZAZZ
AND OLD OLIVE

I grabbed my new Bliss set. A FREE SAB set :) My card base is Old Olive that I textured with the Framed Tulips folder. Inside the embossed area, I put a piece of Pear Pizzazz striped DSP. On the DSP I stamped the large image in Old Olive. I also sponged the edge of the DSP with Old Olive. Across the bottom I put down Sticky Strip and scrunched some Rich Razzleberry grosgrain. I stamped the butterfly, flower and Bliss images on Very Vanilla, cut them out and attached to the card with dimensionals. I curled the butterflies and flowers a bit on a pencil for extra dimensionl. For fun, I added some small pearls: very small on the body of the butterfly and on the flowers on the Bliss image, and a medium one in the center of the flowers. Click to enlarge the picture of the card if you can't see the details very well.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 021111

Friday means time for another Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge and mini tour!  Here is my creation

based on this sketch by Sharon Field

I used the Nature Walk set today. I scanned through my catalog to see what would "fit" the sketch, and settled on this one. My card base is Elegant Eggplant with a background layer of the First Edition DSP. On the DSP I lightly stamped (by stamping off once) the butterfly and flower image. I sponged the edge of the DSP with More Mustard. Around the DSP I knotted a Victoria Crochet Trim. The main image is also the flower image and butterfly, stamped full strength on Very Vanilla. I inked the flower and stem with the More Mustard and Garden Green markers. The butterfly was stamped in Elegant Eggplant and colored with More Mustard (some marker, some blender pen) and Elegant Eggplant. I sponged the edge lightly with Elegant Eggplant and layered it onto More Mustard and Elegant Eggplant. The "thanks" is from the Thank You Kindly set and was stamped in Elegant Eggplant on Very Vanilla and punched with the Designer Label punch. I added another lightly stamped flower/stem image and sponged with Elegant Eggplant. Behind this I added  More Mustard 1-3/8" circle and attached with dimensionals.

NOTE: I just noticed my "More Mustard" layer behind the main image is So Saffron. OOPS! Obviously I was tired when working on this!! Too late to "fix" so just imagine its More Mustard :)

ColorLab28

It's Thursday again, got your lab coat?? For the ColorLab of course!! Fun Valentine colors this week-make sure you stop and play along!! Of course, you could do something other than Valentine's too :) I didn't have that much creative brain power so Valentine's it is for me!  Here are the colors

Real Red, Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake

Here is my creation! Came out pretty close to what I was picturing in my head-don't ya love that??

Card base is Real Red with a Very Vanilla layer behind the Crumb Cake background. I tried a new to me technique on this, I believe called Inlaid Embossing. I started with a piece of Crumb Cake card stock and attached hearts all over it. My hearts were punched from Real Red Card Stock, Very Vanilla Card Stock, Red Glimmer Paper and the Real Red stripes & dots DSP from the Filled with Love bundle. After attaching the hearts, I ran the Crumb Cake through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice embossing folder. Now, if I had stopped to think before running it through, it would have been the other way. To me, this is more the debossed side, but it works. Finally, I layered the "LOVE" in the center and attached the "Be My Valentine" and one more Red Glimmer Heart.

Note: I just re-read the SU! website. I used the Filled with Love set, thinking the bundle was still available. That is not correct. The bundle and the stamp set are no longer available, but the DSP pack is. Love Patterns, 12 12x12 sheets in Real Red and Pretty in Pink.  124156 $9.95. Through 2/14/11. Next time I'll check before using a set I'm not sure about :)

Catalog Items used: Filled with Love (no longer available) * 102482 Real Red Card Stock * 101650 Very Vanilla Card Stock * 120953 Crumb Cake Card Stock * 121790 Red Glimmer Paper * 124156 Love Patterns DSP * 103133 Real Red Classic Ink * 104430 Stampin' Dimensionals * 119881 Heart to Heart Punch * 120908 3/4x15/16 Oval Punch * 113439 Big Shot * 119976 Square Lattice Embossing Folder

Sketch Frenzy Friday 020411

Welcome to another Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge! We hope you'll stop by and play along this week!!

Here is my card

based on this sketch by Ros Davidson

I went with a vertical card instead of horizontal! But as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to do the tucked ribbon! I also wanted a Springy feel as we've had too much cold around here lately!!

The card base is Concord Crush, with a Pear Pizzazz layer behind the Whisper White. I used the Bold Blossom set again-its such a fun little set! I stamped the stems across the bottom, alternating heights just a little. Then I added the flowers and Glimmer Brads in coordinating colors. I stamped the "thank you" saying top center and added butterflies around. The Pear Pizzazz seam binding is attached to sticky strip. I used my stylus to space the tucks. Pretty quick and easy card!

ColorLab27

Thursday!! Ready for a little time in the ColorLab? Julie has a great color challenge this week-nice and cheery to make us forget ALL the winter weather outside! We hope you'll stop by and play along this week.

Melon Mambo, Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait and
 a Touch of Basic Black

Here is what I came up with!

I picked this fun set from the Occasions Mini, Bold Blossom. It's so happy and cheery isn't it?? Card base is Melon Mambo Textured card stock with a Whisper White Top Note. On the Top Note I stamped the stem image in Pear Pizzazz and added flowers atop with Peach Parfait. To two of the flowers I added a Melon Mambo button (with White embroidery thread) from the Sale-A-Bration Ice Cream Parlor Ribbon & Button pack. Next I added two Melon Mambo butterflies. The top note is sponged around the bottom with Pear Pizzazz and the top with Peach Parfait. For my "touch of Basic Black" I stamped the saying on Whisper White in Basic Black and punched it with the Scallop Oval punch. I added  Melon Mambo butterfly and Pear Pizzazz sponging before layering it onto a Scallop Oval Punch Window (Movers & Shapers). The saying is attached with dimensionals over a Pear Pizzazz ribbon that is knotted off to one side.

Thanks for stopping by! Do stop by the ColorLab and play along!!
