Sketch Frenzy Friday 082611

Happy Friday all. I'm must say I'm thinking-WOW, where did this week go??? No stamping for me all week until I remembered tonight to create something for Sketch Frenzy Friday! Was distracted tonight by shopping with my boys. No, they are not big shoppers, but it involved a TV so they were game. A very big TV, for the basement, "their" space in the house!! I may very well have a houseful of teenage boys this weekend-playing XBox on the BIG screen!!

OK, back to the reason you're here-Another Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge!! Great sketch this week by Deb Currier!! Here is my card

based on this sketch by Deb:

A quick and simple card, sort of a rerun of last weeks! Same stamps and DSP, but a very different look! Card base is Soft Suede textured card stock. The DSP strip is from the Spice Cake pack and is layered on Pool Party card stock. I stamped the large (Maple??) leave on very Vanilla in More Mustard and added the outline layer in Soft Suede. An acorn is layered at the bottom corner, and a saying on the right corner from Teeny Tiny Wishes. I liked the spritzing so much last week I did that again with the Pool Party marker. A metallic brad is top right helping to hold the Victorian Crochet Trim accent.

Club Doily Card 3

Back with the last card from Club last weekend. Meant to get here earlier today, but got distracted cleaning. Ick, I know, but it had to be done and there's lots more I need to do. The good news, the basement is taking shape!

This one is very simple, but isn't it striking? The card base is Elegant Eggplant. We embossed the Doily on another piece of Elegant Eggplant, sized just smaller than the base. Stamp the Doily with Versamark, Heat Emboss with White Embossing Powder, knot a Whisper White Satin ribbon around, put a Pearl in the center, and add your saying of choice. Attach the layer to the base and you're done!

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope to find some stamping time later today. This is the last of my created cards so gotta get busy stamping!! That box of Holiday Mini stuff is starting to call my name ;)

Sketch Frenzy Friday 081911

Welcome to Friday all! That brings us another Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge and mini tour! Here is my card

based on this sketch by Angela Walters.

I reached for a new set from the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog, Gently Falling. And that great new DSP again, Spice Cake. They make a GREAT combination!! Card base is Soft Suede with a Pool Party accent layer behind the More Mustard stripe DSP. I stamped the leaves on 3 Very Vanilla squares: solid image in More Mustard, outline in Soft Suede, and Pool Party Spritzed Splatter. The Thanks is from Thank you Kindly and was stamped in Soft Suede on the DSP. Pretty quick and easy card!! Same for this post-it's about to storm here so gotta run!! Happy Friday all!

Club Doily Card 2

Welcome back for card 2 from the weekend of Doily cards!! This one is an emboss resist, very similar to the Soft Suede one on the SUDSOL Blog Tour. My deciding factor of color on this one was coordinating ribbon :)

This is a new ribbon, by the way, Riding Hood 3/8" Taffeta. I'm loving the more choices in ribbon this year!! Card base is Riding Hood Red. The Doily was stamped in Versamark on Naturals White Card Stock and heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. We then used the sponge daubers to put Riding Hood Red ink on. Remember to dab first, then twist and rub to get the color in good. Then when all done, rub over the embossing with either a tissue or paper towel to remove any excess ink. A large Pear in the center, a knotted ribbon, and saying from Sincere Salutations on scallop ovals. I let them chose from the entire set for their greeting.

Thanks for stopping by again today!!

Club Doily Card 1

My club group met this past weekend and it ended up being a Hello Doily themed event! I didn't set out to do that. But, family commitments prevented me from attending so I tried to come up with projects that were not overly complex. After the Open Houses last month that involved the Stamp-a-ma-jig and lots of cutting, I promised no cutting and no SAMJ when I proposed meeting with out me in attendance. I have a wonderful downline and former club member that "ran" the show and reports are that all went well!! Thanks again Gwen :)

I didn't get this stamp with my first catalog order, but did add it on with my Open House orders. I didn't get it mounted right away, but now that I've started using it, I can't seem to stop!! Here is the first card from the weekend, using embossing on DSP. Don't forget-buy 3 get one FREE on DSP through the end of August.

Card base is Crumb Cake, with a Not Quite Navy layer behind a Well Worn DSP print of wood grain. My inspiration was a doily on a table. We stamped the Doily in Versamark on the DSP and applied White Embossing Powder. Heat set the EP, attach the DSP to the Not Quite Navy and put an Antique Brad through the center. Layer that on to the card base, attach the saying and you are done. I gave them the entire Teeny Tiny Wishes set to choose from, most of them fit the Word Window punch.

Thanks for stopping by today! Make sure and stop back the next two days to see the other 2 Doily cards from club!!

SUDSOL New Catalog Blog Tour!!

This was my post from the SUDSOL New Catalog Blog Tour. While the links are gone, the benefits of SUDSOL remain for those of you who are demos! Click any of the links below to visit the SUDSOL site and sign up for the FREE Two-Week Trial!!

Welcome to the SUDSOL New Catalog Blog Tour!! Along the way today you will find many demonstratable ideas using New Catalog products!! Demos, check out SUDSOL if you aren't a member! Take the two-week FREE trial!! It's the upline I've never had! The site has many valuable resources, and the members are always sharing GREAT ideas! I'm always "in the know" about SU! goings on without trying very hard :) Customers, remember SUDSOL is a DEMO only site so you won't be able to see the site or any galleries mentioned (unless you want to sign up with SU! first, then we can get you in!) but you should find some great projects that are easy for you to recreate!!

The cards I'm sharing are made with some of my favorite new sets. You will find a detailed product list for each card below the forward and backward links. First up is this Sunflower card. Of course I had to order this on my first catalog order :)

I used the emboss resist technique on this: clear embossing of the Sunflower on the First Edition DSP, and classic ink colors applied over the embossing using Sponge Daubers. Colors, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso and More Mustard. This stamp doesn't allow as much color as I would like, but I was happy with the final result. I will say, don't overheat your powder. That tends to blend it together more and you lose detail.

Next, these fun pumpkins using the Button Buddies set.

This has been a very fun set to play with! And one thing I've learned-I don't have NEAR enough buttons!! Card base is Early Espresso with Pumpkin Pie Dotted DSP for the background. I inked the pumpkin stamp 5 times by coloring with my markers: Pumpkin Pie for the pumpkin, Early Espresso for the stem, Old Olive for the squiggle. I used my grid paper to center the first one, then eyeballed the rest. I added Pumpkin Pie buttons with White Baker's Twine in the center to the center and outside buttons. Happy Halloween from Teeny Tiny Wishes is the saying.

Next up, a Hello Doily creation. A stamp that is fast working it's way up my favorites list!!

This one has a very vintage feel!! This is also emboss resist. LOVE the way the Doily looks with this technique!! The card base is Soft Suede. I stamped the Doily off to the left side with Versamark ink on a Naturals Ivory card stock and applied Clear embossing powder. Heat the powder then use a sponge dauber to apply Soft Suede ink all over the Doily. I found the best result was to dab the ink on, then blend it in a circular motion. That really gets the color down onto the card stock. When you've gone over the entire Doily, grab a tissue or paper towel and rub off any excess ink from the embossed areas. Now the image really pops!! I spritzed the right side of the card a little before adding the saying from Word Play.  P.S. If you like this stamp, come back and see me the next few days. I have 3 cards from the weekend I'll be sharing :)

Finally, a quick card with Field Flowers!

Liked this set in the catalog, but I will say it takes a little extra effort to get it right! My first time using it, even with the Stamp-a-ma-jig it was off. I've learned to use dark ink on the Stamp-a-ma-jig so I can see it very clearly to line it up just right :) I'm very glad to have Chocolate Chip ribbon back this year! Ribbon drives most color choices so I found I wasn't using Chocolate last year. Not any more!! Card base is Chocolate Chip with a Regal Rose accent layer behind the Naturals White. The stem was stamped first in Chocolate Chip, then in flower in two steps times two colors. I used Regal Rose for the flower, stamping the more solid image off once before stamping on the card stock. The outline layer was stamped full strength. Same with the center in Chocolate Chip. I spritzed a little of each color in the white space around the flowers and added the new Scallop Dots ribbon at the bottom. The saying is from the same set, stamped in Chocolate, layered on a Regal Rose Scallop Oval.

Thanks for stopping by today!! Don't forget the Two Week FREE trial! Give it a shot!! Each member also has their own gallery on SUDSOL. All of my creations make it in there! Members (regular or trial) can see my gallery HERE.

ColorLab53

Hello all!! Welcome to the new edition of the ColorLab. We will now be posting a challenge ONCE per month, on the 15th.

Here are the colors for this month's challenge:

Pool Party, Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz
& a Touch of More Mustard.

Those colors are featured in a DSP in the upcoming Holiday Mini and I couldn't resist using some!! Here is my card:

This is a VERY quick card!! I had a crazy week with the boys starting school and a weekend trip out of town for me. Of course I didn't get to this before I left, so I had to be quick tonight so it could get posted!!

Card base is Soft Suede with a Pool Party layer behind the DSP Paisley print. Isn't that awesome!! Love the print and blend of colors!! The stamp is from the Hostess set, Happiest Birthday Wishes. I inked it with markers in the challenge colors, attached to Soft Suede and then to the card base over a Pear Pizzazz ribbon. Quick, easy, clean & simple!!

Thanks for stopping by today. Head on over to the ColorLab and see what the rest of the team came up with. And then, Play Along!!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 081211

Happy Friday all! Busy one for me, but here's to wishing you all a GREAT weekend!!

Friday means another Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch and mini tour. Here is the card I created

based on this sketch by Tina Taves.

Great sketch and glad I put together this new set today-it was perfect! The stamp set is Field Flowers and you'll be seeing more of it!! I think this may be my new favorite combo too-it's been around a few times already!! Card base is Elegant Eggplant with a Wisteria Wonder background. The background was textured with the new Stripes Embossing Folder in the Big Shot. The flowers were stamped on Whisper White using the Stamp-a-ma-jig: Wisteria Wonder for the more solid layer, Elegant Eggplant for the outline. Love the dimensional look!! The stem was actually stamped first in Lucky Limeade. The saying at the bottom, also from this set, is in Elegant Eggplant. Across the center is a Lucky Limeade "cheater" bow. Attach the ribbon to each side, knot a separate small piece around for the bow.

ColorLab Changes

My apologies for not getting this info on here earlier today! It's been a crazy week with my boys starting school today! Not only does it seem way to early for that, they are both in High School now. Mom is still adjusting to that  :)

Anyway, I'm sure you noticed that I don't have a ColorLab post today, and if you went over to the Lab, there isn't one there either. Julie has decided to make some changes and we will now be posting one challenge per month, on the 15th. That will give everyone ample time to play along! So, stop back Monday to see our first Monthly ColorLab challenge.

I had hoped to have something else to share today, but that hasn't happened yet. I have tons of stamping I need to be doing just can't seem to make it upstairs :(

See you all tomorrow with a Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge!!

Just Believe CCMC161

Needed to get some creativity flowing tonight, so after cleaning up the stamp room a bit, I played along with Create with Connie & Mary's Challenge of the week. Fun colors! Here is my card:

based on this challenge:

My card base is Basic Black with both Old Olive & Daffodil Delight layers behind the First Edition DSP. I know, I used it again!! It just keeps working with what I'm creating!! On the DSP, I stamped the flower & stem image that I had inked with my Daffodil Delight & Old Olive markers. I spritzed a little Daffodil around the flowers too for just a little more yellow and sponged the edge with Daffodil Delight before attaching to the Daffodil.. The wide Daffodil striped grosgrain was attached around the Daffodil layer and a 1/8" Basic Black Taffeta knotted around each side. In the center of the ribbon is an Old Olive Decorative Label punch with the saying layered on.

Wisteria Get Well!

After a productive evening, I decided I needed some stamping time tonight! I browsed some of my favorite challenges and settled on two to combine.

The Paper Players had the following sketch this week:

and, SU-Only Challenges had a "Get Well" theme. Perfect combination!! Here is what I came up with:

Card base is Elegant Eggplant with a Wisteria Wonder background stamped with the Distressed Dots background. The flowers are from Raining Flowers. I inked the inside image first with markers, Wisteria Wonder & Lucky Limeade. I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to position and line up! The outside images were done with Elegant Eggplant and Old Olive. The Elegant Eggplant behind the flowers was punched at the bottom with the Eyelet Border punch. Wisteria Wonder Ribbon was attached around and a 2nd piece knotted around in the center. The saying is from Sincere Salutations and was stamped twice. First in Elegant Eggplant, then again in Whisper White Craft just slight left and up. Stamp-a-ma-jig again!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 080511

Happy Friday all!! Long week here and lots to do on the weekend agenda!! I think I'm slowly getting caught up from a week away! Maybe...

Anyway, you know Friday means another Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge and tour!! Here is my card

based on this sketch, also by me!!

I've had this idea for quite awhile, and good thing. It was fairly late Thursday evening before I made it to the stamp room. After a struggle with colors, I finally settled on Real Red & Early Espresso. My brain just wasn't up to mixing too many colors in :) The card base is Early Espresso with a Real Red layer behind the Real Red Dotted DSP background. At the bottom center of the background, I stamped the saying from Pursuit of Happiness in Early Espresso. The snails were stamped in Early Espresso on the Whisper White strip across the center. That was layered on Early Espresso before attaching over the background. The Real Red Buttons have Early Espresso Baker's Twine knotted in the center and are attached with Mini Glue dots.

ColorLab52

Happy Thursday all! Long week here after a week on vacation last week! Can't seem to get back in the groove!! Oh well! You know Thursday means another great color challenge over at the ColorLab! Here are the colors:

Pool Party, So Saffron & Not Quite Navy

And, here is what I came up with.

I mounted my new Sweet Floral stamp and did the emboss resist technique. I used the First Edition DSP again. The card base is Not Quite Navy with a Pool Party & So Saffron layer behind the DSP. On the DSP, I stamped the Sweet Floral image with Versamark and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. Then I sponged color over: So Saffron for the flowers, Not Quite Navy for the stem & leaves, and Pool Party in any bare spots. The flower didn't pop quite as much as I would like so I'm guessing a darker color would be better. A Pool Party ribbon is attached around the bottom with a "Thanks So Much" from Sincere Salutations attached over on the Large & Scallop Oval punches.

Thanks for stopping by today! Make sure to stop over by the ColorLab and see what the other Chemists came up with! And, play along!! We love to see your creations!!
