Punch Bunch Swap

Thanks to all who stopped by over the weekend for the Hop. Fun fun! Weren't there some great ideas?? You haven't missed it if you didn't get to it over the weekend. The links are still there, scroll down a post and Hop along :)

I have another Punch Bunch card to share today. I did this one recently for the monthly swap.

It's very bright! But not in a bad way, just a cheery way :) The colors were chosen based on the ribbon from the SAB free item: Ice Cream Parlor Ribbon & Button pack. Then I choose some of the Ice Cream Parlor DSP, another FREE SAB item. Card base is Melon Mambo with a background layer of Daffodil Delight and then two different DSP prints. Across the center is a strip of Pacific Point that I punched one each side with the Scallop Trim border punch. I attached it across the DSP, then knotted the ribbon around it. Over that is a 2-3/8" Scallop Circle in Melon Mambo behind the stamped image punched with the 1-3/4" Scallop Circle. I stamped the image twice, once in Melon Mambo and once in Daffodil Delight. The Daffodil is behind, and I then added the inset Melon Mambo flowers after punching with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch. I used my Paper Piercer to pierce a hole in each scallop on the Melon Mambo scallop circle.

Have a good week all! The weather is off to a whopping start here, freezing rain already this morning, changing to snow later. Near blizzard like conditions. YUCK!! Guess I will continue working on my stamp room-I've made a little progress clearing out and cleaning up!

Stampin' Addicts Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop!!

Hello friends and welcome to the Stampin' Addicts Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop!! I can't wait to see all the great ideas!! You've probably just arrived from Rhonda's Blog (The Stampin' Bunny), weren't her creations just AWESOME!!

I am featuring the Punch Bunch set, one of the exclusive SAB sets this year! My thought process on this set was to use as many of the 5 different stamps as I could, but I found I didn't really use them together. So, I have 4 cards for you, using 4 of the stamps. Oh, and true to the name of the set, I used a Bunch of Punches!! Note a supply list for each card is at the bottom of the post, under the previous/next blog links.

First up is the fun little square card. I love making these every once in awhile just because they are different! The "card" sits on the back and you can't see it. The square is around 4-1/4" and I find a 4" square ( 8"x4" card stock, folded) is perfect on the back, it sits just inside the scallops. I used the Happy Birthday image on this one, and combined it with some of the other fun Sale-A-Bration items: DSP, ribbon and buttons!! The Ice Cream Parlor Designer Series Paper and Quick Accents pack has very bright colors, hence the bright colors of this card! The Scallop Square Bigz Die was used on Pacific Point textured paper for the base layer.  A Daffodil Delight accent layer is behind a background of dotted DSP. Across the center of the card is a Pacific Point strip punched with the Dotted Ribbon Scallop Border. Across that I knotted the Ice Cream Parlor 1/4" Grosgrain. Isn't it bright and fun!!?? The Happy Birthday scallop square was stamped in Pacific Point on Whisper White and punched with the Scallop Square punch. It's attached with dimensionals to a Daffodil Delight scallop square cut with the Scallop Squares Duo Die. That is also attached with dimensionals to set over the ribbon. For my final accent I added the Ice Cream Parlor buttons at the top left and bottom right edges. I always think buttons need something in the center, so these have some white thread knotted through.

Next up is this fun Poppy card! I have no idea if this flower even remotely resembles a Poppy, but it seemed the perfect fit for the Poppy Parade color!! Card base is Pear Pizzazz, background is Whisper White and Poppy Parade striped DSP. I stamped the flowers across just above center. I inked them with the markers and used a stamp-a-ma-jig and my grid paper for decent placement. They slant downhill just a bit, but what line of flowers grows perfect straight?? LOL!! Across the center is a Pear Pizzazz strip that I punched with the Scallop Trim Border punch. I knotted a Poppy Parade ribbon around the middle before attaching that layer. For the accent piece, I inked the stamp with Poppy Parade and punched with the Scallop Circle (1-3/4") Punch. A Pear Pizzazz 1-3/8" circle in next with the flowers on a 1-1/4" circle. They were inked with markers too so the stems could be Pear. The scallop is attached with dimensionals to sit over the ribbon.

Next up, a scallop circle card! It's been a very long time since I did one of these and it just seemed like it would work with the owls. I did a Mr & Mrs for a Happy Anniversary card! I used the Ice Cream Parlor DSP again, and the buttons! These bright colors are so much fun! This time on the buttons, I threaded it through but didn't knot on the top. Mr & Mrs Owl are standing on stems cut with the Sweetest Stem Embosslit. I stamped the owls in Pacific Point and Melon Mambo, then used my coordinating punch to add DSP to personalize them. The saying is punched with the Word Window, layered onto a Modern Label and then onto a Large Oval. Note this card folds open, see the straight line across the top? Place a folded piece of card stock just down from the outside score line and you'll get a scallop circle card!!

Finally, a Baby card using the tag punches. It's been a very long time since these have been out! I wasn't sure at first on this card, but it's growing on me. I love the soft, subtle colors together! I'm thinking it would be great for a shower invitation!! Card base is Certainly Celery, with a So Saffron layer behind the Whisper White background. For the background, I stamped just the mobile (by inking just the umbrella and ducks with marker) randomly around in baby colors: Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Bashful Blue and Pretty in Pink. A Certainly Celery wide grosgrain ribbon is around the center and the tags are set over that with dimensionals. I stamped those images fully and punched with the Large Tag and layered onto the Extra-Large Tag. I used glue dots to attach some regular Certainly Celery grosgrain to the back of each. For a final accent, I added a tiny Rhinestone to each tag. Sweet!!

Thanks for stopping by-I hope I've inspired you!! Buttons are below to advance you in whichever direction you are going!! Enjoy and make the MOST of Sale-A-Bration!! Next stop going forward is Twila at Stamp A Little Longer.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 012811

Friday!! Time for another Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge. Here is my creation for this week, looking somewhat crooked because the scanner doesn't like the button :)

Based on this sketch shared with us by Robbie Rubala

My card base is Early Espresso with a background layer of Riding Hood Red that was texturized with the "Friend" Texturz Plate (from the Texture Plates #4 set). After texturizing, I lightly dabbed Very Vanilla craft ink on, hoping to just highlight the words. I also sponged the edge with Very Vanilla. Next I inked the Be My Valentine heart with Riding Hood Red ink. I didn't feel like cleaning and stamping again in Espresso, so I grabbed a blender pen and removed the Riding Hood Red ink from the words and used my Early Espresso marker to ink them. The heart was cut out and attached with dimensionals to a small panel that has a Crumb Cake base and Espresso script DSP (from the Botanical Gazette pack). The button is from the Deck the Halls Big Button set (Holiday Mini) and has a 1/8" Early Espresso Taffeta ribbon knotted in it. Across the bottom, an Early Espresso Satin ribbon under a Victoria Crochet Trim.

ColorLab26

Thursday again, got your Lab coat? Your ColorLab coat that is?? Hope you'll stop by and play along with us this week!! Here are the colors:

Perfect Plum, Basic Gray and Bashful Blue

Here is what I came up with:

Card base is Basic Gray with a background accent layer of both Perfect Plum and Bashful Blue. The background layer is Whisper White that I rolled with  jumbo wheel, Whimsy, in both Perfect Plum and Bashful Blue. I turned it a different way after doing the first so the patterns would be different. The dragon fly is from Bugs and Kisses. It was stamped in Basic Gray. Instead of coloring, I used the fine tip of the markers and traced the squiggly lines on the wings, Bashful Blue on the top wings, Pale Plum on the bottom. After sponging the edge with Basic Gray and covered the whole piece of whisper white with Versamark and embossed it with Iridescent Ice Embossing powder. It doesn't show very well in the picture, but trust me, it sparkles in real life! Both the dragon fly and the saying are layered on Bashful Blue and Perfect Plum and both are attached with dimensionals. Oh, and lastly, the ribbon is from my "stash" and is Basic Gray taffeta that isn't currently available. I really wish we had more color options in ribbon!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 012111

Welcome to another Sketch Frenzy Friday!! Here is my creation of the week:

based on this sketch shared with us by Melissa Hedine-Tootle.

My card base is Pear Pizzazz with a Concord Crush layer behind a piece of First Edition DSP. I was inspired by a card I saw this week using this new DSP as a background, and another that I ran across in my files that had white embossing on DSP. For this card, I embossed on the DSP with clear powder, then sponged color over it with sponge duabers. The ink colors are Pear Pizzazz, Concord Crush & Peach Parfait. My side scallops were made with my 1-1/4" Circle punch. I punched several, put them together at the edge like I wanted, then trimmed off at the edge of the Concord Crush card stock. It needed a little something extra, so I added a strip of Pear Pizzazz ribbon at the very edge. Finally is the saying in the lower left corner, from Teeny Tiny Wishes, on a small Oval of Very Vanilla, layered onto a Moder Label punch of Concord Crush with Vanilla brads on each end.

ColorLab25

Thursday! Again?? Wow, the weeks do go fast don't they! Well, grab your lab coat and let's head to the ColorLab and create!! Here are the colors for this week!

More Mustard, Old Olive & Pacific Point

A very quick card tonight, one I tried to keep simple! Card base is Old Olive and I textured it with the new Framed Tulips embossing folder. Inside that I set a Naturals White piece of card stock that I had stamped the images from Vintage Vogue in the three colors. The edge was sponged with More Mustard. The focal image was stamped in Old Olive and the edge sponged with More Mustard before layering onto Pacific Point. I tied an Old Olive Taffeta ribbon on one of the paper clips from the Clips Assortment and attached the clip to the side.

Nature Window

Howdy all, again today! I decided I wasn't working too hard around the house today, so I spent some more time in the stamp room. Should have been cleaning it, but there's always tomorrow :o) Here's what I came up with today. The layout is from the Saturday Sketch Challenge at Stamping 411

Here is the sketch that was the inspiration.

When I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to try out one of the new Beveled Windowpanes that have been hanging around here far too long unopened! Card base is Early Espresso. The next layer is So Saffron that I textured with the new Framed Tulips embossing folder. I sponged lightly over the texturing with Early Espresso. Next are two layers of DSP from the Botanical Gazette pack that I sized to sit inside the tulip frame. I tore the bottom of the Olive Butterfly print with the Tearing edge and layered it over the Natural print. I sponged all the edges with Early Espresso. At the bottom on the Natural print I stamped 'happy birthday' from All Holidays in Early Espresso. The main imaged was sized to fit the largest Beveled Windowpane with an Early Espresso layer behind Very Vanilla. I stamped the butterfly in Early Espresso and colored him with Old Olive & So Saffron (carefully so as not to bleed the Early Espresso). Below the butterfly I stamped the "no. 147" from the set. I attached the butterfly image to the card where I wanted it, then attached Early Espresso Taffeta ribbon to each side. The ribbon is attached to the back of the card, and each end is anchored with an Antique Brad.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Be My Valentine

Got a little play time last night! Actually I had most of the evening and could have had several more cards done but lost something I "NEEDED" to finish this one! Don't you hate that?? I knew I had these buttons, but boy were they hiding!! Yes, I need to clean my room!! Here is the card.

I just got this new heart, Be My Valentine, from the Occasions Mini catalog and wanted to do something with it. It was perfect for the sketch challenge over at Stampin' Addicts and also fits the Valentine theme at Pals Paper Arts.

Card base is Riding Hood Red with a tight layer of Soft Suede behind the Very Vanilla background. I stamped the background with two of the hearts from I Heart Hearts in Riding Hood Red across the top and bottom. I then spritzed it with the Soft Suede marker and textured it with the Square Lattice embossing folder. Another strip of layers is across the center, Soft Suede first then Riding Hood Red and Very Vanilla. The Very Vanilla is spritzed with both Soft Suede and Riding Hood Red and also textured with the Square Lattice folder. I stamped the Be My Valentine heart twice, once is Soft Suede and once in Riding Hood Red. I cut the banner out on the Riding Hood Red and added it to the Soft Suede. My final accents are the missing buttons from the Holiday Mini in Very Vanilla and Cherry Cobbler with Very Vanilla 1/8" taffeta knotted through them.

Thanks for stopping by today-hope you're having a great weekend AND finding some stamping time!! :)

Sketch Frenzy Friday 011411

Happy Friday All! Time for another Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge. This one is very different than anything I normally do, but came together very easily-gotta love that!! Here is my card

based on this sketch brought to us by Melinda Couden.

My card base is Real Red and sized to fit a #10 envelope. It's 9 inches wide by 3-1/2 folded. A Basic Gray strip is behind the heart print DSP from the Love Impressions pack. Lots of hearts across the front in Real Red, Basic Gray & Pink Pirouette. The stamped heart is from the Filled with Love (from the Holiday Mini) that is still available as part of the Bundle Special right now. It is punched with the Full Heart Punch. One of the hearts has the Red Glimmer Paper. The punched hearts are layered onto the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit, and then onto the Punch Window Heart. Love how these three items are sized to go together so well!!  On the Pink heart I added the "be my valentine" saying with a small red glimmer heart. That's it!

As usual for Sketch Frenzy Friday, we have our Mini Tour. Click HERE to continue on to Kim's blog. Or click HERE if you want to go back to the Main SFF Blog for any reason. As always, all the blogs and the main blog are linked in my right sidebar if something isn't working right!

ColorLab24

Thursday again, got your lab coat?? ColorLab that is!! Look at these fun colors, just asking for a Valentine's card!!

Rose Red, Blushing Bride, Soft Suede and a Touch of Crumb Cake.
(love the graphic Julie and the dropper!!)

Here is what I came up with. Wasn't sure it was going to come out and be presentable, but I like the final version!! Didn't really have to redo anything, just took apart a few layers that I knew better than to put together!!

Card base is Soft Suede with a Rose Red Layer and close Crumb Cake layer under a Whisper White background. The background has been stamped with hears in Versamark and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. I then sponged colors over the stamped images. The large hearts are Rose Red, Soft Suede and Blushing Bride; the small are Crumb Cake. I also did the edges of the background layer with Rose Red. A Blushing Bride ribbon is knotted around the background and Crumb Cake layers. The "LOVE" was done the same way, stamped in Versamark and embossed. I then sponged Rose Red over, added a small heart punched out and layered it onto Rose Red and Soft Suede.

I hope you'll stop by the ColorLab and play along! We love to see your creations!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Flower Fancy Birthday

I made this card last night for the Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge this week, then neglected to post it in time. OOPS! Oh well, I can still share here for all of you. I'm in to cards with a Spring feel, even though we've not truly had all that much winter. Guess the drab colors get to a person after a while!

The PPA Challenge was to use Baja Breeze, Perfect Plum and Pear Pizzazz.  Here is what I came up with.

The bow looks a little wonky in the scan, it's better in real life. The scanner squishes it though so it doesn't look very good. Card base is Perfect Plum. Background is Whisper White that was two-step stamped in Perfect Plum, Baja Breeze and Pear Pizzazz. For the two step, I first stamped the outline image from Flower Fancy full strength: the large flower in Perfect Plum, the small flowers in Baja Breeze and the leaves in Pear Pizzazz. Then I inked the solid (inside) images and stamped them off once before stamping on the card stock. I did not use a stamp-a-ma-jig at all on this one. Love how this set goes together without that extra step!! For a little added color, I spritzed the images as well with the markers in the same colors. I tried to aim them over the images of the same color.

The saying is from the new set in the Occasions Mini, Bring on the Cake. I stamped the saying on Whisper White in Perfect Plum, added a few Baja Breeze spritzed dots and punched with the Wide Oval. I sponged the edge with Perfect Plum then layered onto a Decorative Label of Pear Pizzazz. It seemed to need a little something else, so I layered more Decorative Labels behind in Perfect Plum.

The bow was again made using Mary Browns instructions but I tried layering two colors together. Maybe I should have stuck with one?? But it does look better in real live than in the scan.

Thanks for stopping by! I'll be back Thursday and Friday for sure, not sure if I'll make it before that.

Upsy Daisy Birthday

Snow day means stamping for me!! I need to send out a few birthday cards in the coming days, so I set out to make some this afternoon. Here is the first based on the Stamping 411 sketch. I've had the idea running around in my head since I saw this Saturday. Finally, I got it down on paper! It also works for the Stampin' Royalty challenge of Birthday Cards this week.

First, I want to say thanks to Mary Brown for her fabulous bow tutorial! Mine is far from perfect, but I will continue working on it! Hers are always awesome, and how very nice of her to share the technique with all of us!!

OK, the card base is Poppy Parade. Background of Naturals White. I inked the Upsy Daisy stamp first in Blushing Bride. Then I used a Sponge Dauber to add Poppy Parade around the tops of the flowers. Next, to get green stems, I first used a blender pen to remove any ink from the stems, then used my Pear Pizzazz marker to ink them. Huff on the image and stamp! I textured the White layer with the Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder, then added a piece of Poppy Parade DSP at the bottom. As per Mary's tutorial, ribbon bow and ribbon are both attached inside the brad to appear that it's knotted. The ribbon is attached with Sticky Strip across the front of the card. The ends are secured to the back with Snail. The sticky strip is really necessary to hold the weight of the bow. The edge of the White layer was also sponged with Blushing Bride before attaching to the card base. The saying was stamped in Poppy on Naturals White and layered onto a Poppy Parade scallop oval. I also stamped a few flowers on the saying, using my stamp-a-ma-jig to get just the ones I wanted, where I wanted them.

I'm heading back to the stamp room to see what other colors I can make this work in!! Who wouldn't like to get one of these bright, happy cards when we have nothing but snow outside?? Thanks for stopping by!!

Emboss Resist Serene Snowflakes

Two of my favorite challenges had the theme "blue" this week. Combine that with a look out the window, and it was pretty easy to come up with the inspiration for this card. We have a true Winter Wonderland going on today! It's very pretty, and so far manageable. Manageable because the wind isn't blowing. Yet.

The two challenges this works for are Hand Stamped Sentiments and Stampin' Celebration.

My card base is Night of Navy. The background is Whisper White that I first stamped with 3 sizes of snowflakes from the Serene Snowflakes set with Versamark. After heat embossing with Clear Embossing Powder, I sponged ink over. Night of Navy on the largest, Marina Mist on the middle, and Bashful Blue on the smaller. I sponged the edge and any remaining bare space with Night of Navy. Around the center I tied a White Satin ribbon. The saying is from Upsy Daisy. It was stamped in Night of Navy on Whisper White, punched with the Wide Oval punch, and layered on a Night of Navy Decorative Label. I stamped a Bashful Blue Snowflake over the saying and added a Rhinestone Brad to the 'o'.

Hopefully it's stopping snowing soon so we can all get out to work and school tomorrow! Thanks for stopping by!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 010711

Friday :) It's been a long week! Even though I worked my usual schedule last week, aside from being sick on Friday, I feel this week like I'm readjusting! Holiday hangover I guess?? Anyway, Friday means another sketch at Sketch Frenzy Friday!! This one was a challenge for me, and this is actually the second card I did (the first is hitting the circular file). I've come to the conclusion that simpler is better for me!! It's always good to step outside the comfort zone though, right? Here is my creation:

based on this sketch by Kim Innis.

The scan isn't the best, this card REALLY sparkles in person! This Red Glimmer Paper is Way Cool!! My 13 year old son saw it from the hallway as I was cutting pieces and had to come check it out up close!!

Card base is Real Red, cut to fold to 5-1/2" square. The set used here is Filled with Love that was in the Holiday Mini Catalog. It is available through January 24th as part of a special bundle including exclusive Love  Patterns DSP and FREE Bitty Buttons. (Click HERE for details) The next layer is a dotted print from the Love Patterns DSP, followed by Red Glimmer paper. WOW, right?? I also used a strip of it behind the layers. Finally a Whisper White piece is stamped with the "LOVE" stamp and several hearts. I punched a heart from the Glimmer paper and put in the middle of the "O". Red Glimmer brads are on the left side. Three more elements from the set are accents on the right side.

As usual, we have a mini tour for you among the Sketch Frenzy Friday team. Click HERE to go to Kim's blog and see what she came up with. Thanks for stopping by, and we hope you play along with us this week!! Remember, all blogs and the Sketch Frenzy main blog are linked in my right side bar.

ColorLab23

Thursday! Time for another ColorLab challenge!! Here is the challenge for the week:

Marina Mist, Pear Pizzazz and So Saffron

and here is what I came up with.

I kept it pretty simple! It's been a long week and my brain power was pretty low!! Card base is So Saffron and textured with the Finial Press embossing folder. The image from Studio Sketches was stamped with Black Stazon on Naturals Ivory then colored with blender pens in So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz and Marina Mist. A Marina Mist 1/8" Taffeta ribbon was knotted around just above the saying. This is matted closely on Pear Pizzazz and then on Marina Mist.

I hope you'll stop over at the ColorLab and play along! We love to see what you come up with!!
