Sketch Frenzy Friday 093011

Welcome to Friday all! Time for another Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge and mini hop!! Are you ready??!!??

Here is my card

based on this sketch by Patrice Herrera

Fun fun!! I tried to pick some colors that were still Fall feeling, but different than the usual ones. I settled on Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze and Not Quite Navy. Of course, ribbon is a deciding factor in all my color choices!!!

The card base is Not Quite Navy with a Cajun Craze layer behind the Crumb Cake background. On that background I stamped leaves in Cajun Craze, Not Quite Navy and Crumb Cake. I also added splatter dots in Crumb Cake-mostly over the Cajun and NQN leaves, and then sponged the edge with Crumb Cake. Across the center of the background are two Crumb Cake Taffeta ribbons. Bottom right corner are 3 Champagne brads from the Basics Glimmer Brads set. The tag was cut with the Two Tags die in the Big Shot from Crumb Cake card stock. The edge was sponged with Not Quite Navy, leaves were stamped with Not Quite Navy, splatter dots in Crumb Cake, and a saying in Cajun Craze. The bow was supposed to be a "Mary Brown bow", but my brad broke and it was my last one :( So, I tied the bow and then added the brad with just one remaining prong and attached with Mini Glue Dots.

Gently Fallings Thanks Club Card

Card two from the weekend. Even though I struggled with this one, and it takes a little extra time to complete, the end result is worth it!!

Card base is Soft Suede. Background layer is Naturals Ivory that we stamped the leaves on. Gently Falling is the set we used, and we did the "Rock-n-Roll" technique with the inside images. That means we inked them first with More Mustard, then rolled them on the Cajun Craze pad just enough to get the outside edges inked. We then added the 2nd layer (outline) of the stamp with Soft Suede using the Stamp-a-ma-jig. We sponged the edge with More Mustard and added a few Spritzes with the Cajun Craze & Soft Suede markers. The saying (from Hand Penned Holidays) was stamped in Soft Suede on Naturals Ivory, spritzed, sponged and layered onto Cajun Craze. That was attached with dimensionals over a Victoria Crochet Trim. For accent, we added two more of the small leaves that we cut out to the top left and bottom right corners of the saying.

Jack of All Trade Club Card

Howdy all! Here is card one from Club yesterday. A nice, bright Halloween card!!

Card base is Concord Crush. Next layer is Tangerine Tango. On that layer, we used the new Simply Scored tool to created a frame 1/4" in from the edge. The Daffodil Delight layer sits just inside the scored lines. On the Whisper White layer, we first stamped the saying (from Grateful Greetings) in Concord Crush along the bottom. Next, we stamped the tall pumpkin from Jack of All Trades in Tangerine Tango. We added the face with Concord Crush. The hat and star were stamped on a different piece of Whisper White, cut out, and attached with dimensionals to the pumpkin. The star is attached to the hat with a Mini Silver Brad.

The Sounding Joy

Howdy all! Hope you've had a GREAT weekend. Not to bad here!! This card is one I created last week for my usual monthly swap. It's the first time in a few months that I've gotten to play!! Can't wait to see what I get back!!

This is a great Christmas card to make if you have lots to do! It goes together SUPER quick!! The card base is Cherry Cobbler. I textured the front with the new Snow Burst Embossing Folder. The main image was created by stamping the star word image in Cherry Cobbler on Naturals Ivory Card Stock. Over that, I stamped the Joy image in Versamark and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder. At the bottom, I attached the new Cherry Cobbler Quilted Satin Ribbon. It has a real shine to it-Love it!! The Joy panel is attached to a Brushed Gold layer and attached to the card base with Mini Glue Dots for super hold.

Quick and Easy!! Check back later this week for an Espresso version that my Club Girls did today :)

Sketch Frenzy Friday 092311

Happy Friday all! I hope it's as beautiful as Thursday was here!! Gorgeous fall day! As you know, Friday means another sketch and mini tour with Sketch Frenzy Friday!! Here is my card

based on this sketch by Maria Vanderform.

I must admit, at first glance I wasn't super sure about this sketch, but, the card came together SUPER easy!! Gotta love that! Especially since I always wait until too late in the day to get started!!

Card base is Tangerine Tango. On that are three layers of DSP from the Patterns Stacks. Left to right are Tangerine Tango dots, Concord Crush stripes and Basic Black print. I don't have any Halloween DSP because I know I won't use it all, but these stacks give me tons of options!! Around the Black print is a 1/8" Black Taffeta Ribbon. The pumpkin and hat are from the fun Halloween set Jack of All Trades. It just arrived  in residence here yesterday and was perfect for this sketch!! The Basic Black scallop circle is attached with dimensionals, as is the pumpkin at the hat. On the hat is a Whisper White flower button with White Baker's twine. The saying is from Grateful Greetings.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 091611

Happy Friday all! I'm ready for the weekend, not that it will be restful!! Always too much to do!! But, Friday as you know means another Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge and mini tour!! Here is my card

based on this sketch by Tammy Fite.

I decided to do something a little different! While looking through DSP trying to see what might work, and trying not to use Gently Falling or anything Spice Cake related, I remembered the Spice Cake Fabric and decided to try a flower with that. The card base is Soft Suede that I initially left plain after trying all the patterns in the Spice Cake DSP and deciding none worked like I wanted. I cut 3 different flowers from the fabric using the Fun Flowers die-one of each print. I layered them together and put an Antique Brad through the center. I tried to fray the edges just a tad before attaching the flower element over a More Mustard Scallop circle. The saying didn't work quite like I wanted. I stamped it with Very Vanilla Craft Ink and embossed with Clear EP.  You can barely see it in the scan, but in real life it is readable. It kind of has a Vanilla outline with clear center.  I decided the Soft Suede was too plain and stamped the smaller leaf randomly around the circle and spritzed Soft Suede ink around as well.

French Foliage again!

Since I already had it out, and I found another "Fall" challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments, I decided to make another card with French Foliage. I think it may be my all time favorite leaf set!! So easy to work with!!

I flipped through the Color Coach and found a good "Fall" set: Elegant Eggplant, Garden Green & More Mustard. I added a little River Rock too. Card base is Elegant Eggplant with a More Mustard layer behind a Naturals Ivory background. On the background I stamped the large leaf in Elegant Eggplant, middle leaf in Garden Green and small leaf in More Mustard. Then I added splatter dots over it all with River Rock. I sponged the edge, attached a Scallop Dots Eggplant ribbon upside down across the center, and attached to the More Mustard. The saying, from Pursuit of Happiness, was stamped in Elegant Eggplant on Naturals Ivory with two small leaves in More Mustard and dots in River Rock. It is layered onto Elegant Eggplant and attached with dimensionals over the ribbon. For accent, I added two Antique Brads, one on each side of the saying.

ColorLab54

Time for another ColorLab challenge!!!  We hope you'll play along!! Here are the colors

LUCKY LIMEADE, RICH RAZZLEBERRY & BASIC GRAY

and here is what I came up with:

Card base is Basic Gray with an accent of Rich Razzleberry behind the Confetti Cream background. On the Confetti I stamped the floral image from Just Believe. I inked it with markers in Lucky Limeade & Rich Razzleberry. I spritzed around it with both Rich Razzleberry and Lucky Limeade and sponged the edge with Lucky Limeade. I knotted a piece of Lucky Limeade ribbon and attached it at either side of the Confetti. The saying was stamped in Basic Gray, spritzed with Rich Razzleberry & Lucky Limeade, punched with the Word Window punch, layered onto a Modern Label and attached with dimensionals.

Stop over by the ColorLab blog and see what the other Chemists' came up with! Then, play along with us! You have an entire MONTH to do it!! Hope to see you there!!

French Foliage SR88

Don't fall off your chair anyone!! I stamped just for fun!! YEAH!! I saw this great color challenge last week over at Stampin' Royalty and new immediately that I needed to do it, and that I needed to pull out French Foliage!! It took me until today to get it done!!

Here are the colors:

And here is what I came up with!!

I'm missed using this set! And it's starting to feel like fall around here. Well, not exactly today-it's 90 something and windy. But back to the 70's tomorrow!

Back to the card! The base is Concord Crush with an accent layer of Tangerine Tango behind the stamped background. On Naturals White card stock, I stamped the leaves in Concord Crush, Daffodil Delight & Tangerine Tango. Lastly I added the "splatter" image in Certainly Celery, some full strength, some stamped off once. Click to enlarge the photo if you can't see the Celery-it's pretty light! The edge was sponged with Certainly Celery before tying the Daffodil Delight ribbon around and attaching to the card base. I had more ribbon than usual, so I attempted a bow and it worked first try so I left it!! The saying is from Pursuit of Happiness and was stamped in Concord Crush. The Daffodil leaf was added as well as some Celery splatters and a sponged Celery edge. It is layered onto Concord Crush and attached with dimensionals over the ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by today! I will be back with a new ColorLab challenge on Thursday and Sketch Frenzy Friday on Friday if not before!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 090911

Happy Friday again all! Another no stamping week for me, but I'm hoping to change that soon! Spent all of today trying to get things done and reorganized so I can spend more time in the stamp room!

You know Friday means another Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge and mini tour!! Here is my creation of the week

based on this sketch by Kim Innis.

I used the Spice Cake DSP again and Gently Falling. It's still out on my desk, so it's always the first thing I see! I left one of the circles from the sketch as the giant button, but changed the other two to leaves. Card base is Soft Suede with a background layer of More Mustard behind the DSP print. I didn't realize she had two different patterns for the background (lost that details in printing-I need new ink) so mine is all one background. Across the center is a Pool Party ribbon. The button has a Chantilly Crochet Trim ribbon knotted in and is attached to the background with Mini Glue Dots. The maple leaf was curled a little and attached with dimensionals. The small leaf is also attached with dimensionals. The Teeny Tiny Wishes saying is on the Modern Label Punch & Punch Window with Metallic brad accents.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 090211

Howdy all!! Welcome to Friday!! Sorry to have been absent from stamping & blogging all week! Taking a vacation I guess :) But, Friday means another Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch & Mini tour so back to stamping for me!! And, it's my sketch this week too! Fun, fun!!

Here is the card I created

based on this sketch I also created!!

When creating the sketch I had several of these fun new backgrounds in mind. Well, Medallion was around last year, but Hello Doily, Sunflower & Sweet Floral are new. So much more than a "background" and so much fun to work with!! I chose the Sunflower to play with tonight. The card base is Soft Suede Textured with accent layers of More Mustard and Cherry Cobbler. The Sunflower was stamped in Black Stazon on Confetti Cream card stock. I colored the Sunflower with Watercolor Crayons in More Mustard, Cherry Cobbler &  Soft Suede. I tried to replicate an actual sunflower that I grew this year that had a ring of red among the yellow. I first colored in the front petals with More Mustard. Next I went over the background ones (they appear black in the picture) with Cherry Cobbler and added the "ring of red" over the More Mustard. Lastly, the center was done with Soft Suede. In the center is a fun new Soft Suede button from the Holiday Mini catalog. Can you say HUGE??  but fun!! I knotted a Very Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon in the center and attached with Mini Glue dots. At the bottom is a Cherry Cobbler Scallop Dots ribbon upside down-the dots were too much. The saying is from Pursuit of Happiness and I just can't help using it with this stamp!! It's like they were made to go together!!

Thanks for stopping by today!! Continue on our the tour by clicking HERE To see what Kim has created this week!! Make sure to play along with us this week! Remember, the main Sketch Frenzy Friday blog and all member blogs are linked in my right sidebar if you happen to get derailed at any point. Hoping to get back into stamping mode this next week!!
