Happy Day Betsy's Blossom

More play time tonight as I work to keep the creativity flowing!! Need to come up with four ideas for Open House creations very soon! Tonight, I combined the SUO Challenge "For the Birds" challenge with the sketch from  Freshly Made Sketches. Here is the sketch

And, the card I came up with.

The card base is Rich Razzleberry, with a Daffodil Deligh accent layer behind a Floral Distric DSP background. I opted to go with a regular size card even though the sketch appears more square. "Regular" size just works better with my display baskets and such :)

On Whisper White, I using the Betsy's Blossom stamp set, I stamped the large flower in Rich Razzleberry, the bird in Daffodil Delight, and two leaves in Baja Breeze. I cut those out and layered together. The bird is attached over the leaves with dimensionals, and the entire element is attached to the background with dimensionals.

I really miss the Movers & Shapers dies when it comes to adding the sayings. I would have used the punch and coordinating die, but since that retired, I just layered the scallop like we do the Decorative label punch, punch two and cut one in half vertically, and one horizontally and layer behind the punch. Worked OK. Two Daffodil buttons are the final accent.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 062911

Happy Friday all! Hope it's been a good week for you!! I feel good to be back to stamping!! The room has been sorted out and new goodies have arrived!

As you know, Friday means another round of the Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge and mini tour. Here is my creation of the week

based on this sketch by Deb Currier. Clean and simple-just what I needed tonight!!

My card base is Real Red with a background of Real Red DSP from the new Polka Dot Parade pack. The accent square is Daffodil Delight card stock backing a DSP print of Daffodil, also from the Polka Dot Parade pack. You'll be seeing lots of use of this paper!! These circles go with everything!! The flower is from Mixed Bunch-Real Red with a Daffodil Delight center and a Real Red button in the center with Whisper White Bakers Twine. Button have seemed to go perfectly with everything I've done this week! The saying is from Loving Thoughts.

Quilted Happiness!

Two nights in a row-woohoo!! Tonight I was inspired by my friends over at Hand Stamped Sentiments. Their challenge this week-quilting. I love doing the Top Note quilted cards so I dug out some new DSP and started quilting!!

I went with the Summer Smooches DSP because of the bright, cheery colors. Since we have 12 patterns, and I need 12 squares to cover the size of a Top Note, I punched two 1-1/4" squares out of each different piece of DSP. I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 4 x 5 to attached the squares to. Move them around until you like the layout, then attach to the Whisper White. I used the Mono Multipurpose Liquid Glue. And I must make a note here: do NOT decided at this point if you like it or not. I didn't like mine at all, and I remember from other similar cards in the past not liking just the squares. Cut it with the Top Note die first, then texture it with an Embossing Folder before you decide :) I used the Houndstooth Folder on this one.

The card base is Rich Razzleberry. I stamped the background with the Netting background stamp in Rich Razzleberry. Around the Top Note is knotted a piece of the new Daffodil Delight 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain. The saying element is made with the Decorative Label punch. I punched one out of Whisper White, and two from Island Indigo. On the white I stamped "Happiness" from Loving Thoughts. I added a stem from the Bright Blossoms set and a button flower with Whisper White Baker's Twine in the center. I sponged the edges lightly with Daffodil Delight before layering onto the Island Indigo. Remember, to make this mat, but one of the Indigo punches in half vertically, the other in half horizontally. Cut the center points off all four pieces, and mat the Whisper White layer. The element is attached over the ribbon with dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by tonight!!

Sunflower SSC261

Don't fall off your chair in shock-yes it is a post at Sunflower Stamper other than a scheduled design team post :0)!! Finally play time in the stamp room!! I made an effort this week to finally sort out the retired sets, accessories, etc and clean up a bit so I have room to create and no doubt as to what I can use!! Really excited that new toys are coming later this week!!

I made this card for the Stamping 411 challenge of the week.

Sunflower was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the sketch.

I decided to run with that and use the new In Color Summer Starfruit-a very earthy yellow, perfect for a Sunflower. The card base is Summer Starfruit. The accent side layer is Chocolate Chip DSP layered onto Chocolate Chip card stock. The Sunflower stamp was inked with Summer Starfruit first. I used a sponge dauber to remove some of the ink from the center, then added Chocolate Chip before stamping onto Very Vanilla card stock. The Sunflower was also layered onto Chocolate Chip before attaching to the card base. The saying, from Curly Cute, was stamped on Very Vanilla with Chocolate Chip. I sponged the edge with Summer Starfruit before attaching to a layer of Chocolate Chip, and then onto the background with dimensionals. Sponging is so much easier with the new pads!! As was inking the background stamp-piece of cake!!

Lastly, the fun elements. In the center is a button from the Naturals set. It may be Espresso in color, but it coordinates very well. In the center I added a couple pieces of Whisper White Bakers Twine and then sponged it with Chocolate Chip. At the bottom, a Chocolate Chip bow of Scallop Dots Ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hoping to be back on a much more regular basis!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 062212

Happy Friday all! Hope your week has been good! Not bad here, wish I could slow these weeks down somehow-the days are going by way too fast!!

As you know Friday means another round of the Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge and mini tour. Here is my creation

based on this sketch by Angela Walters.

My initial thought was to change the heart shape to another shape, but once I got to looking at sets and DSP, I settled on the heart shape and used my Hearts Collection Framelits. The DSP background (from the Summer Smooches pack) is Real Red, so that drove the color of the rest of the card. Card base is Real Red. The larger heart was cut from the Red Glimmer paper. The smaller from Whisper White card stock. I stamped the "Celebrate Today" stamp from the Perfectly Penned set in Real Red across the Whisper White heart. I'm thinking Anniversary for this card. Under that is a flower from the Betsy's Blossom set. In the center of the flower is a Rhinestone. Near the bottom is a Whisper White Taffeta ribbon with a Real Red (Brights) Glimmer Brad. Pretty quick and easy!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 061512

Howdy all-welcome to Friday :) Busy week, lots of special days. My youngest turned 15 Thursday, our 21st Wedding Anniversary is today, and Father's Day is coming up Sunday. And the best news, we are getting some much over due rain!!

The bad news, I woke up with a whopper headache today and struggled to get through the day. I managed to get some errands done with Birthday boy chauffeuring me around after a huge cup of coffee this morning, but after dinner tonight I'm feeling it coming back. Since I haven't yet had a chance to create, and I need to be functional tomorrow, I'm calling it a day shortly. Here is the sketch by Tina for the Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge of the week:

Stop over at SFF and play along!!! We love to see your creations. Continue on the tour by clicking HERE to see what Kim has created this week.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 060812

Happy Friday all! Long week here, not sure why, but ready for the weekend! Hoping to get into the stamp room and have motivation to clean up and sort!! Not stamping except for SFF is starting to bother me!! I haven't even ordered yet from the new catalog-YIKES!!

Anyway, on to the reason you're here-Sketch Frenzy Friday!! Time for another challenge and mini tour. This week, the sketch is by Tammy Fite. Here is my creation

based on this sketch by Tammy:

I wasn't sure about this at first, but I like what I came up with thanks to the Summer Smooches DSP & Bright Blossoms set. Quick and simple (I didn't have the brain power for anything else!!)

The card base is Rich Razzleberry, with a multi-color background print from the DSP pack. The center piece has a background of Daffodil Delight DSP with an accent layer of Daffodil Delight card stock. The saying and flowers were stamped on Whisper White and accented with Island Indigo. Love all the colors in this DSP!!! The flower stems are Lucky Limeade, the flowers Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry & Island Indigo. The ribbon at the bottom is the new 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain in Daffodil Delight. Took a while to tie that bow-it's been far too long!!
