Club 1 Double Doily

Howdy all! Finally-here is the first card from Club last weekend!

This is another Double Background card as inspired by Dawn Olchefske. You can see my initial creation using this technique HERE along with a link to her blog and tutorial. Basically, it is as simple as it sounds: stamping two backgrounds, one over the other. This is a case of her card as well for the layout. It's so simple, yet WOW!! The card base here is Midnight Muse. An accent layer of Whisper White sits behind the top layer of Not Quite Navy. Chosen because of coordinating ribbon. The taffeta ribbon is perfect for this card but others might work as well. I love that the taffeta lays so flat!

OK, first step is to stamp your saying on the right side. I chose the 'kindness' one from Blooming with Kindness. It is stamped in Not Quite Navy on the Not Quite Navy in the bottom right corner. Now you have your "placement" guide. Ink the En Francais background with Not Quite Navy and stamp on the left side of the card. Watch your orientation and direction of your words!! It would be very easy to get them going the wrong way! Over the En Francais, stamp the Hello Doily background that was inked in Craft White. Be careful not to smudge as you finish! Next, add three brads at the top left corner using the Stampin' Pierce Mat, Essentials Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. The Piercing Pack is shown on page 181. For this, you want the center template that has the scallop edges at the bottom and just lines of holes around the top. Choose the spacing you prefer-I left two in between each as there was plenty of room.

In the holes, insert three Metallic brads. The Metallic Brads set has 4 different finishes. This one is gold, I also had a Silver and Antique Brass. Attach the Not Quite Navy layer to the Whisper White and then knot the Not Quite Navy Taffeta ribbon around just at the edge of the background stamping.

Thanks for stopping by today!! Let me know if you have any questions!! Stop back tomorrow for the Snowflake card the girls did!!
