Sketch Frenzy Friday 122812

Happy Friday all! Hope you've had a good Holiday week!

As you know, Friday means another round of Sketch Frenzy Friday!! Here is my creation of the week

based on this sketch by Sharon Wheet

As usual, I got a late start! No excuse, just me being me! I'm also jealous of some of the other girls-they have new stuff! Demos can preorder from the Spring catalog early-I just didn't make time to do it until last weekend. That's OK, I'll have it to look forward too! Make sure you go see what everyone else created over at the Main SFF Blog

I tried to go "non-wintery" this week. It's been very cold and dreary here. We sure need any moisture we can get, but the icy roads get very old very fast!! Takes a long time to melt when the highs barely reach 20!

Oh well, on to the good stuff! Colors by the Color Coach: Elegant Eggplant, Rose Red & Baja Breeze. Card base is Elegant Eggplant with a Rose Red accent layer behind the Rose Red DSP background. At the bottom is an Elegant Eggplant ribbon. A Baja Breeze rectangle backs a flower made from all three colors. I textured the Baja Breeze using the Stripes folder, and the flower with the Perfect Polka Dots after assembling all the layers. I used the 2-3/8" Scallop Punch in Elegant Eggplant, the 1-3/4" Scallop Punch in Rose Red, the 1" Circle Punch in Baja Breeze, and the 3/4" Circle Punch in Baja Breeze striped DSP. In the center is a Rose Red button accented with Pool Party Bakers Twine. I used the Paper Snips on the Scallop Circles to make the petals for the flower. Thank you from Curly Cute was stamped on the Baja in Elegant Eggplant before texturing.

Thanks for stopping by today!! Have a Very Happy New Year everyone!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 122112

Happy Friday all! Hope your shopping is all done and you are ready for the Holiday!! It is snowing and blowing here right now (Wed eve) and we just got word there isn't school tomorrow. I have two happy boys-they should be studying for finals!

Friday means another round of Sketch Frenzy Friday! Since it's "frightful" outside, I went with something other than snowflakes this time around!! Butterflies are about as far from snowflakes as you can get right?? Here is my creation

based on this sketch by Robbie Rubala.

Once I decided on the butterflies from Papillion Potpourri, I went to the color wheel for some happy colors. I settled on Wild Wasabi, Rose Red & So Saffron. The card base is Wasabi with an accent layer of Rose Red behind a background of So Saffron dotted DSP. I stamped the butterflies on Whisper White, 2 in Rose Red, 1 in Wasabi, and punched with the coordinating butterfly punch. They are attached with a small piece of dimensional under their body. The words from Friendly Phrases were stamped in the bottom right corner of the DSP in Wild Wasabi. Wild Wasabi ribbon provides the two stripes on the left side. Sorry they are crooked-I didn't secure them in the middle. I will when I go back to the stamp room!! Lights were flickering so I figured I better get this done!!

Make sure you stop over at the main SFF blog to see the creations of the rest of the team. AND, to play along with us!! Thanks for stopping by today!! Merry Christmas!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 121412

Happy Friday all! Hope you all are surviving the Holiday Season!! Just barely here!! :)

As you know, Friday means another round of Sketch Frenzy Friday. Here is my creation of the week

based on this sketch by Patrice Herrera.

This Snowflake Soiree set has been a constant for me since it arrived! I pretty much leave it mounted on clear blocks and ready to use! My Christmas card is very similar in color to this. I went for quick and easy tonight-all the necessary supplies for this were out and near my desk!! Long day with too much going on!! Card base is Basic Gray, with a Whisper White accent layer behind an Elegant Eggplant background. On the background, I first stamped the "Merry" at the bottom and embossed with Silver Embossing Powder. I did that at an angle in the corner instead of the ribbon type element from the sketch. Next, I finished the background with snowflakes in Illuminate and Eggplant. Next, I cut the smaller tag from the Two Tags die in Basic Gray. I also cut two snowflakes with the Snow Flurry die, one from Silver Shimmer & one from Elegant Eggplant. On the tag I stamped two flakes with the Illuminate pad, and accent with two in Eggplant. I punched a Whisper White Scallop Circle and attached at the top of the tag with the snowflakes using a Basic Gray brad.

Pretty quick and easy! Thanks for stopping by today! Make sure you stop over at the main SFF Blog to see the other team member creations and to play along!!

Club Merry Snowflake

Card two from last weekend! I've mentioned the baby wipe technique several times to my girls, but not all of them had done it before. So, I decided to give it a whirl with the Snowflake Soiree set. Here is what we made

.

I do like the end result but I struggled to get there!! I think I should have added a different color instead of using all blues. Perfect Plum comes to mind!! Anyway, after trashing several different attempts, I settled on using the middle snowflake in the set with the baby wipe technique, and then adding solid small ones. The blended colors are Bashful Blue, Marina Mist & Midnight Muse. The card base is Midnight Muse with a Maria Mist accent layer behind the Whisper White background. I stamped the blended snowflakes first, one center top, then right and left below, then center below those, and right and left again.

Remember to do the baby wipe technique: Grab some baby wipes and a container to fold one into. I fold the edges away so I have a smooth surface. I have a travel container (for baby wipes) that I use but a stamp box or gladware type container would work just as well. Grab your ink refills and drop drops onto the baby wipe. You want to end up with a circle large enough for your stamp. I usually go dark to light so I did Midnight Muse, then Marina Mist and finally Bashful Blue. Use this as your stamp pad and stamp away!!

After stamping the blended snowflakes and I said above, I inked the small snowflake from the set and filled in between those in Midnight Muse. Then I grabbed the Illuminate Glimmer pad (LOVE THIS PAD!!!) and went over all the small snowflakes with the same snowflake I used on the baby wipe. A very subtle effect but I really like the look it gives!! This pad is very quickly becoming a favorite of mine!!

OK final accent is a Whisper White strip that was stamped with Merry in Midnight Muse. It is layered onto a slightly larger strip of Midnight Muse. That is attached to the card base with two snowflakes cut from the Snow Flurry die: the medium from Silver Shimmer paper, and the small from Midnight Muse. A silver brad anchors that to the background.

Club Circle Thanks

I had club last weekend and finally I'm getting around to sharing the cards! Crazy time of year right?? This first one was inspired by cards that Jackie Bolhuis shared on her blog HERE. Quick, simple and a great way to use up DSP scraps!! Here is the card my girls made.

I looked through my DSP and decided to go with the Summer Smooches pack. Love these bright colors and how well the different prints go together!! The background is Whisper White with an accent layer of Lucky Limeade on a base of Rich Razzleberry. Start by punching your circles. I did 5 different sizes: 2-1/2" for the multi-color print in the center, 1-3/4 for the Island Indigo at the back, 1-3/8" for the Read Red, 1" for the Lucky Limeade & 3/4 for the Razzleberry. Lay them out on the Whisper White before attaching them! The red and blue are tucked under the multi-color and the green and razzlebery are over. Once you like the layout, attach the circles with snail adhesive. Next, we stamped the saying just under the circles. At this point, before adding the flower accent or attaching to another layer you can texture if you'd like. I did a few that way, and all my girls chose to do that. Here is one done that way.

.

Click to enlarge. I used the Fancy Fan Folder on this one, and it is recessed instead of raised. That wasn't intentional, I just didn't stop to think which way I put it in the folder. But, it looks OK. I also used the Petals a Plenty folder and I think that is what the girls all chose.

The last accent on the card is a Daffodil Delight flower punched with the Boho Blossoms punch. It is attached direct to the background. Over it we added a flower button from the Brights sets (any will work with this paper). In the center of the button we knotted white Bakers Twine. Attach the button with a mini glue dot.

Imagine the possibilities here with all the DSP choices we have!! Fun fun!!

Thanks for stopping by today!! Back soon with the other two cards from last weekend!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 120712

Happy Friday all!! Hope you've had a good week and the Holiday Season is going well for you. I'm so far behind it isn't even funny, but just can't seem to get into it!! Oh well :)

Friday means another round of Sketch Frenzy Friday!! Here is my creation of the week

based on this sketch by Maria.

Pretty simple, and amazingly looks a whole lot like my creation for last week-except for the color!! Early Espresso & Real Red. I stamped the gingerbread man from Scentsational Season on Whisper White in Early Espresso and cut with the coordinating framelit. He is attached to Whisper White with dimensionals, then onto Early Espresso. Those are over ribbons of Early Espresso & Real Red. Background is Polka Dot Parade DSP.

Thanks for stopping by today! Make sure an stop over at the main SFF blog and play along!! We LOVE to see your creations!!
