Sketch Frenzy Friday 033012

Happy Friday all! Wow, how did it get to be the last Friday of March already?!? Spring has arrived for sure here in Nebraska-maybe a little too much so! It's been awfully warm for this early!!

Anyway, on to the main attraction!! The Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge and creation of the week! Here is my card

based on this sketch by Tammy Fite!

I played with the Sneak Peak products available during April: the Summer Smooches DSP and Bright Blossoms stamp set! Fun fun!!

The card base is Island Indigo with a Daffodil Delight border behind the DSP background of Daffodil and Indigo. Across the edge of the background I attached 3 ribbons like the sketch. I used two of the new Daffodil Delight Seam Binding (another Sneak Peak item available during April) and one of the Indigo Island Ruffled Ribbon. I had to modify the sketch a tad as I couldn't get three images to fit, but I think the two works just fine! I used markers to ink the stamps, stamped on Whisper White, and layered onto Island Indigo. The saying is from Pursuit of Happiness.

Masculine My Type

I always like to do something masculine for one of the Open House projects. This time, I figured the You're My Type set would work perfectly.

The card base is Not Quite Navy, with a Riding Hood Red accent layer behind a First Edition DSP background. Across the center of the background is a 1-1/4" Not Quite Navy Striped Grosgrain ribbon. It is attached behind the Riding Hood Red layer. In the center is a Crumb Cake Label element cut with the Labels Framelits. It was also textured with the Square Lattice Embossing folder and we added a Gold Brad at the four corner "points". We attached it to straddle the ribbon by using dimensionals at the top and bottom corners.  The typewriter was stamped in Not Quite Navy on Naturals Ivory and cut out. We added a saying in Riding Hood Red on the "paper". The typewriter is attached to the label element with dimensionals.

Thanks again for stopping by!!

Calypso Vintage Butterfly

Card three from the weekend! Almost forgot to do this post before crashing this evening :)

This may be my favorite from the weekend. Love the wow look, but it's not complex at all!!

I've seen lots of butterflies during this Sale-A-Bration period so I decided it was time to do one!! The card base is Calypso Coral. The background layer is also Calypso Coral. On the background layer, we embossed along the edge of each side using the Simply Scored tool. You can use your embossed lines either recessed, or raised-whichever suits you!! After the scoring, we stamped the words from Loving Thoughts just above the bottom lines. We then added the element from Fresh Vintage, once upside down just above the words, and once right side up near the top. Calypso Coral on Calypso Coral by the way. Next, we stamped on the Beautiful Butterfly cut from Naturals Ivory, also with the element from Fresh Vintage. We stamped once in the center, then used the "edges" of the element to ink again and fill in the wings. I scored the butterfly and folded him just a little in the center. Sponge the edges with Calypso Coral ink and curl the wings around the Paper-Piercer for added dimension. The butterfly is attached to the card background with one dimensional that was split and attached behind the score line in the center. Pearls were added to the bods for the final accent.

Wisteria Wonderful

Card two from the Open Houses last weekend. Love this one, it's purple!!

Card base is Wisteria Wonder, with a Concord Crush layer behind the Whisper White background. On that background we stamped 4 Mixed Bunch solid flowers in Wisteria Wonder. Near the bottom flower, we added they saying from Loving Thoughts in Concord Crush. The accent flower in the center was made by punching a flower from Whisper White (no stamping first), then sponging the edge with Wisteria Wonder. In the center is a flower punched from Wisteria Wonder using the Triple Layer Blossom Bouquet punch and a Wisteria Wonder In Color Brad. The flower is attached to the background with Stampin' Dimensionals. We rounded the corners of the Whisper White and Concord Crush before attaching the layers together. Quick and easy!!

Bordering Watercolor

Here we go-card one from Open Houses this weekend! A great time was had by all-a BIG THANKS to all who came!!

This is another card that was inspired by my upline, Linda Gutierrez. Her version is HERE. I hadn't used this set yet, but loved what she did!! Here is my version, I changed it just a little.

The card base is Basic Gray with a Naturals Ivory accent layer behind the Riding Hood Red background. The Riding Hood Red was textured in the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing folder. I used Basic Gray instead of black-I like the softer look sometimes and this was one :) On a smaller Naturals Ivory, we stamped the large flower from Bordering on Romance (centered vertically). We watercolored using Blender Pens and classic ink. Once done, we textured it in the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. The flower image is layered onto another Basic Gray and attached to the Riding Hood Red background. We added a saying at the top left with Circle punches (1-1/4 & 1-3/8). This one is from, the On Your Birthday set. There was also a choice of "Get Well Soon" from Delightful Dozen, and "thanks, thanks, thanks" from Pretty Postage. The Riding Hood Ribbon was attached near the bottom of the flower layer with Mini Glue Dots. The final accent is a Large Pear-have you noticed those in the Occasions Mini??

Sketch Frenzy Friday 031612

Happy Friday all! It's been a super busy week, with the worst (best) part yet to come!! My Boys are competing in the VEX National Robotics tournament this weekend-Good Luck Crete!!

OK, on to the reason you're here!! Sketch Frenzy Friday! A little different look for me, but I like how it came out! Especially since it's late and I'm running very low on brain power!! Here is my card

based on this sketch by Sharon Wheet.

I combined the Twitterpated DSP and the Bordering on Romance set. The colors in the stripe print caught my eye and I knew the stripe would be a great contrast for a background. Just so happens too I had a new coordinating roll of Riding Hood Red pleated ribbon that is perfect across the center!! I stamped the images on Whisper White in Basic Gray and colored with Riding Hood Red, Baja Blue and Pear Pizzazz markers. The card base is Basic Gray with a Riding Hood Red accent layer. One flower panel is backed by Pear Pizzazz, the other Baja Breeze. The saying from Friendly Phrases was stamped in Basic Gray on Whisper White, punched with the 1-1/4" circle punch and layered onto a 1-3/8" Basic Gray circle!

It went together fairly well, but I'm still up too late! Thanks for stopping by today! Continue on our tour by clicking HERE to see what Kim has created this week! We hope you'll stop by the main SFF blog and play along!!

Birthday Apothecary

The last card from the weekend! Last minute Lucy that I am came up with this one Sunday morning for afternoon club :) I can't help it, really, I've tried!!

I love how this one came out!! I've wanted to use this set for Club but kept deciding not to because of the time it takes to color with a group. I decided to use this image which is less coloring than the rose one in the same set. Colors are Baja Breeze, So Saffron & Certainly Celery. I did prestamp the image and run it through the Big Shot with the Labels Framelit. Not that the Girls can't do it, I just don't like to drag along the Big Shot unless I really have to!! The image was stamped with Black Stazon. The "Happiest Birthday" is a separate stamp. We colored directly with markers which is not something I usually like to do, but these colors are so soft its perfect that way! The center of the flowers is So Saffron, the petals are Baja Breeze, and the leaves and stems are Certainly Celery. The card base is Baja; the background So Saffron that was textured with the Finial Press embossing folder. Across the center in Certainly Celery satin ribbon. The flower image is attached to the Baja layer with Snail, then attached to the background with dimensionals to sit over the ribbon. Makes me happy, how about you??

Thanks for stopping by again today!! Tomorrow is Friday so make sure to stop by and check out the Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge!!

Concord Peach Mixed Bunch

Card three from the weekend! While surfing for inspiration late Saturday night, I found several cards similar to this and decided to take the idea and run with it!!

The basic idea starts with the Peach Parfait dotted flower. It is actually punched out of the top layer, Whisper White, and the Peach you see is the DSP layered below. Cool isn't it!!?? We added the center of the Peach flower by stamping the 3/4" circle image in Concord Crush and punching out. In the center is a brad from the Circle Fire Rhinestone Brad set. The Concord flower was stamped on a separate piece of Whisper White. We punched it out, added a DSP center, and a brad in the center. Both the Concord flower and the center of the Peach flower were attached with dimensionals. The two Peach outline flowers were stamped in Peach Parfait directly on the Whisper White. The bling in the center are the fabulous Rhinestone Jewels. The saying is from Friendly Phrases. The DSP, by the way, is from the 2010-2012 In Color Patterns stack. And, I'm sure you know what I'm going to say next!! These two colors are retiring with the catalog in May! STOCK UP NOW!!!!

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you're having a fabulous week!!

Poppy Vintage

Card two from the weekend! I cheated just a little and did this one for both the workshop and club!!

I saw one like this online but it was black (let me know if it was yours!!!). I didn't have the black DSP, and I wanted to use the SAB products, so I took a look through the Everyday Enchantment DSP pack and knew this Poppy Print would be perfect!!!

The card base is Poppy Parade, the background Very Vanilla. On the left side is a strip of Poppy Parade card stock that we punched with the Scallop Border punch. This is lined up with a strip of DSP that we set on the edge of the Very Vanilla. On the right side, we stamped the Vintage Element and the "Thank You" just above it. Quick and easy!!

Don't forget-the 2010/2012 In Colors are going away with the current catalog at the end of May!! Poppy Parade is one of those :( Along with Concord Crush, Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz and Peach Parfait. Stock up your supplies NOW!!!

Concord Pear Mixed Bunch

Busy stamping weekend for me so I will actually have cards to share this week!! Great time both days!! Days spent with fellow stampers are always GREAT days!!

This card is from a workshop on Saturday. The layout is probably familiar as it's the same as my Club girls did last month. My inspiration was a card by my upline, Linda Gutierrez. See her version HERE.

Card base is Concord Crush. An accent layer of Pear Pizzazz behind the background layer. The background is a Whisper White layer with a DSP print of Pear Pizzazz at the top. The DSP is from the Twitterpated pack in the Occasions Mini. Missing these colors already!! Concord Crush and Pear Pizzazz are two of the five 2010-2012 In Colors that will be going away when this catalog retired May 31. :( Stock up NOW!!! Across the center is a strip of the fabulous Pear Pizzazz Pleated Satin ribbon. Thinking of You at the bottom is from the Curly Cute set and was stamped in Concord Crush at the bottom of the Whisper White. Happy Birthday, Congratulations and Thinking of you from this set also work well on this card! The flower was stamped in Concord Crush and punched with the matching Blossom Punch. The center image was stamped in Pear Pizzazz and punched with the 1" Circle punch. The final accent is a Pear Pizzazz Glimmer Brad in the Center. I also did versions with Concord Crush and Silver Glimmer brads. The flower is attached with dimensionals to sit over the ribbon. Quick and easy, yet WOW!!!

Thanks for stopping by today!! More to come this week-make sure you stop back by!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 030912

Happy Friday all! Still crazy times here but I'm making a little time to spend in the stamp room!! Sometimes you  "have to" and that's not all bad!! :)

As you know Friday means a challenge at Sketch Frenzy Friday!! Here is my card

based on this sketch by Robbie Rubala.

I struggled just a little (probably just because I'm not stamping enough) with what to put on the panels, but as soon as I saw this set, Sprinkled Expressions I knew it would work. The saying didn't work quite like I wanted, but I flipped one flower over and then it was fine! Who says they have to go which way??

While looking at the sketch, I remembered the new colors of Baker's Twine that are in the Occasions Mini. New colors that I have yet to use. And I thought a button would work good where the heart is in the sketch. So, I set about coordinating buttons with twine and I ended up with purple-Elegant Eggplant and Wisteria Wonder. The card base is Elegant Eggplant with a textured background of Wisteria Wonder. Snowflakes work for flowers too, right? The panels are attached to the background with Mini Glue Dots. I wrapped the Wisteria Wonder Baker's Twine around the background 3 times. It is secured on the back with Snail. Then, I cut a separate piece and put through an Elegant Eggplant flower button and tied a bow around the wrapped twine.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 030212

Happy Friday all! Hope your week has been good and you have great plans for the weekend.  A road trip home for me on the agenda-excited to see Family!!

As you know Friday means another Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge and mini tour. The sketch this week was brought to us by Patrice Herrera. Here is what I came up with.

based on this sketch by Patrice.

I really like the end result, but I have to admit I wasn't sure at first!! Maybe it's just our various products go together SO WELL!! The color is Calypso Coral. Base of Chocolate Chip with a card stock accent behind the DSP print in Calypso Coral. I stamped the flower from Mixed Bunch in Calypso on Naturals Ivory card stock and punched it with the coordinating Blossom punch. In the center is a Champagne Glimmer Brad. The saying is from Friendly Phrases.

Thanks for stopping by today! We hope you'll play along with us this week! Upload your creation at the main blog post HERE. Continue on our tour by clicking HERE to see what Kim has created this week. Remember, all the members blogs are listed in my right sidebar if you hit a speed bump at any point :)
