Stampin' Addicts Occasions Mini Blog Hop

Photobucket

Welcome to my stop on the hop! You've probably just come from Cindy's Blog, Heart's Delight Cards. Weren't her projects with Clearly for You just fabulous?? I am honored to be a part of this fabulous group today!! If you are just starting here, you can find links to all the blogs on the tour HERE at Stampin' Addicts. Stampin' Addicts is a great group for customers and demonstrators alike, so (after the Hop of course) click over there and check it out!

I am featuring the Bold Blossom set. It may not have been one of the first to catch your eye, but trust me, it has lots of potential!!! Note: a product listing for each card is at the bottom of the post, below the next blog link.

First up is this cheery card using all the elements from the set! I chose colors based on the Glimmer Brads Subtles set: Perfect Plum, Marina Mist, So Saffron, Rose Red & Wild Wasabi. Card base is Marina Mist that I textured with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. The Top Note was cut from Whisper White, then stamped with stems in Wild Wasabi and colored flowers. To "pop" the flowers, I stamped them a second time on a separate piece of Whisper White and punched them out using the 3/4" circle punch. To the punched flowers, I added a contrasting color Glimmer Brad. Then I attached over the original flowers with a dimensional. Three butterflies were stamped across the top. The edges of the Top Note were sponged around the bottom with Wild Wasabi and the top with Marina Mist. A Rose Red Seam Binding ribbon is across the bottom. The saying was stamped in Marina Mist, accented with a So Saffron butterfly, sponged with Perfect Plum and layered onto a So Saffron scallop oval.

Next up is this fun little square card. 4" square to be exact. The card base is Rich Razzleberry Textured card stock. The scallop circle is Daffodil Delight that was cut with the Big Shot then textured with the Perfect Polka Dots folder. In the center is a 2-1/2" circle punch of Whisper White. I stamped 6 of the flowers around the circle, in the same colors as the Brights Designer Buttons. I tied white thread through the buttons and attached over the flowers with a Mini Glue Dot. I tried mixing up the colors, but it didn't look near as good as color on color. In the center, I used only the "for" and "you" from the saying by inking with my marker and stamping with the stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement. The saying was punched with the 3/4" circle punch, layered on a Rich Razzleberry 1", and attached with a dimensional.

Our last card for today is one I tried to keep a little more simple. Card base is Concord Crush. Along the left side is a strip Pear Pizzazz DSP from the new Springtime Vintage pack. On the right side of the Concord I stamped several of the flowers in Concord. One stem and flower image were stamped on a panel of Very Vanilla. I used my marker again to add just the 'thank you'. In the center of the flower is a rhinestone. Three Peach Parfait butterflies accent the flower. The Pear Pizzazz seam binding ribbon is gathered at the bottom on Sticky Strip.

Lastly today, a fun 3D item! I cut a Mini Milk Carton with my Big Shot from Baja Breeze. I randomly stamped flowers all over it with Baja Breeze. I knotted a Rose Red Seam Binding ribbon around, clipped it shut with a Mini Library Clip, and attached So Saffron butterflies all around. Too fun!

I hope I've given you some great ideas with this set! Thanks for stopping by!! Continue on to Twila's Blog, Stamp a Little Longer and see what she's cooked up with Eat Chocolate by clicking below:

Sketch Frenzy Friday 123110

Friday again! and almost the New Year! Friday means another Sketch Frenzy Friday mini tour. Here is my creation, using new things from the Occasions Mini Catalog.

Here is the sketch of the week, also created by me. Thank you My Digital Studio!! This is my first sketch creation, so let me know what you think!

The card base is Cherry Cobbler. The background layers are DSP from the new Botanical Gazette pack. The top is an Early Espresso Script print, the bottom a Cherry Cobbler print. I stamped the butterfly from Nature Walk on a piece of Very Vanilla with Craft Early Espresso ink, and embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder. I knew I couldn't color the Classic ink without blending the colors. After heating it, I colored with the Cherry Cobbler and So Saffron markers. Next I added the "no. 147" below the image and layered it onto Early Espresso Card Stock. I tore the bottom of the Early Espresso print with the Tearing Edge. On the Cherry Cobbler print, I added 3 Very Vanilla Brads and the words "friend to friend" from Teeny Tiny Wishes. Near the bottom of the Espresso print I put a strip of Cherry Cobbler Seam binding ribbon and then knotted a 1/8" Vanilla Taffeta around that.

With Love & Caring

Here is my most recent swap creation. Somehow, I managed to work these in amongst all the Christmas prep stress! Always feels good to be stamping, but sometimes it is hard to take the time! Got some great cards back though as usual!! Our theme was Occasions Mini, so I chose to work with the Thanks for Caring set, Springtime Vintage DSP and new Framed Tulips embossing folder. Here is the result:

Card base is Baja Breeze and I embossed the front with the new folder. Next is a layer of Pear Pizzazz behind a floral print from the DSP. Around that I knotted Baja Breeze Seam Binding ribbon. Did you see the fun new colors of Seam Binding ribbon?? Fun fun!! For the main image, I punched a Very Vanilla Decorative Label and used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to add the saying on the lower left in Pear Pizzazz, and butterfly on the right side in Baja Breeze. I punched two more Decorative Labels from Baja Breeze and matted the Very Vanilla one. Final accent is a flower shaped Bitty Button with a Pear Pizzazz punch behind it. Have you all seen those buttons (p. 186) and coordinating punches (p. 200)? I will admit I haven't used them much, but they were the perfect accent for this card! Finally, the saying element was attached with dimensionals.

Reminder: the Holiday Mini sales period end January 3rd. Get your orders in NOW if there is anything in there you haven't gotten yet. The Occasions Mini sales period starts January 4th. Get your orders ready!!

Bold Blossom HSS47

More playing with new stuff! This new little set, Bold Blossom, seemed like it was going to work perfectly with the Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch that I stumbled across last night while browsing my favorite challenge blogs. Even the colors used on the sketch were inspiration as I was thinking bright and cheery for this set!

The card base is textured Melon Mambo. The butterflies were stamped on Whisper White in Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Tempting Turquoise and Melon Mambo. That layer was matted on Pumpkin Pie. The small corner accent strip has the "stem" image in Tempting Turquoise, a center flower in Melon Mambo with a yellow Rhinestone brad, and two flowers off to the side in Pumpkin Pie, all matted on Melon Mambo. The Tempting Turquoise layer behind was stamped in Tempting Turquoise with the flower image. A Daffodil Taffeta ribbon was tied just at the bottom of the Tempting Turquoise. The saying was stamped in Pumpkin Pie with a Daffodil butterfly on Whisper White, punched with the large oval and layered onto a Daffodil scallop oval.

I will be featuring this set as part of the Stampin' Addicts Occasions Mini Blog Tour this weekend (starting Friday) so make sure to stop back by!!

Nature Walk SUO8

Needed a creative jump start tonight, so looked up a few challenges. Settled on this one from SUO Challenges:

Use Dry Embossing with these colors:

Here is what I came up with, using some fun new things from the upcoming Occasions Mini Catalog.

Card base is Bravo Burgundy and was embossed with the new embossing folder for the Big Shot, Framed Tulips. The main set used is Nature Walk. Inset inside the embossed frame is a More Mustard layer behind a Naturals Ivory panel. On the panel I stamped the floral image from Nature Walk several times in More Mustard, some after stamping off once. I then spritzed it with the Color Spritzer Tool and the Bravo Burgundy Marker. The edge was sponged with Bravo Burgundy. The bottom right corner was stamped with a new saying from the Bring on the Cake set. I stamped the bird in Bravo Burgundy on a different piece of Naturals Ivory. Before cutting I spritzed it with the More Mustard marker and the Color Spritzer tool. I added bits of color with the markers in both Bravo Burgundy and More Mustard. A 1/8" Very Vanilla Taffeta ribbon was tied around the Naturals Ivory layer, just above the saying. The bird was attached with dimensionals.

Merry Christmas!

Hope all of you out there have a terrific day with Family or Friends!! It sounds cold and nasty outside here in Nebraska, so I'm very glad I'll be tucked inside my cozy house!! I wanted to share with you all the Christmas card that went to our friends and family this year. They always end up being very stressful at the end, and this year may have been the worst, but this is the one time of year I actually get cards in the mail! Maybe I should consider starting before Thanksgiving! ha ha!!

The card base is Crumb Cake. The background is Riding Hood Red that was first embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder in the Big Shot, then spritzed with the Log Cabin Smooch Spritz. Before attaching that layer, I attached a Riding Hood Red striped grosgrain ribbon (not a current color but it was available in the Clearance Rack) with an Early Espresso 1/8" Very Vanilla Taffeta tied in the center. Lastly I layered on a Dasher that was stamped in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla and spritzed with the Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz before layering onto an Early Espresso layer.

The saying inside the card is the "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" from the Seasonal Sentiments set in the Holiday Mini Catalog.

A few notes. First, the Smooch Spritz is finicky at best. Use it on a very well protected area!! I found it best to spray a bunch at once. When you do one, then set it down to use later, they get clogged and spray sideways and all kinds of fun things! If you aren't doing lots at once, wipe it well or rinse it off before putting it away. Second, I find with the embossed backgrounds that it's a good idea to add a few glue dots for better adhesion. I generally just use Snail, but it this case I added a glue dot on each corner of the Early Espresso and the Riding Hood Red before attaching.

That's it! I again want to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas! I will be back next week sometime, and hopefully back to a more regular posting schedule! Thanks too all of you who stop by on a regular basis! You keep me stamping, and stamping helps keep me sane!!  :)

Time for another Sketch Frenzy Friday-Happy Christmas Eve to everyone!! I opted not to do Christmas for this one, here is my creation

based on this sketch by Deb Currier

I went to my Color Coach for a color combination. Chocolate Chip, More Mustard and Garden Green. Card base is Chocolate Chip, background is More Mustard textured with the Finial Press embossing folder. I used the flowers from the Hostess set Fast & Fabulous for my focal image. I stamped the "outline" of the image in Chocolate Chip, and added the "solid" in More Mustard. I used my Garden Green marker to accent the flowers and to spritz the image with the Color Spritzer Tool. I used two strips of Very Vanilla 1/8" Taffeta and Naturals Brads for the accents.

Thanks for stopping by, we hope you'll stop over by the Sketch Frenzy Friday and enter your creation!!  Click HERE to go to Kim's blog to continue on our weekly mini tour. Remember, all member blogs and the Main Sketch Frenzy Friday blog are linked in my right sidebar.

ColorLab22

Thursday! And, OOOHHH so CLOSE to Christmas!! Today will be my busy day to grocery shop, cook and clean. Working a little on Friday, then more of cooking or cleaning as needed before Christmas on Saturday. Can't wait!! On to your reason for stopping by, the ColorLab Color Challenge of the week. Julie picked a great one this week (doesn't she always?!!!??) to go along with the season:

Night of Navy, Pacific Point,
Baja Breeze & Marina Mist

I will admit, at first glance I wasn't sure all these blues would work, but I love them all together!! My card base is Night of Navy, with a background layer of Whisper White that I stamped with snowflakes from the Snow Swirled set in all 4 of the colors. I started with the medium snowflake and pretty much covered the background, doing about 4 in each color. Then I grabbed the little snowflake and filled in any bare areas. I sponged the edge of the Whisper White with Night of Navy. I cut a big snowflake with the Snowflake #2 die in my Big Shot from Marina Mist. To the center I added a Marina Mist Glitter Brad from the Subtles set. I sponged the outer edge of the snowflake with some Night of Navy just to give it a little more contrast to the background. I attached the snowflake to the card, near the top but centered. Next came a Night of Navy Satin ribbon knotted on the left side. Lastly, the 'Merry Christmas' saying from the All Holidays set on scallop ovals.

Merry Christmas to you all if you don't make it back before Saturday. I will have a Sketch Frenzy Friday post tomorrow, and hope to post my Christmas card on Saturday. I finally got 101 of the cards "postal" on Wednesday (the latest EVER!). Thanks for stopping by, please stop over at the ColorLab and see what the other girls came up with-you won't be sorry you took the time! Then, take a break and play along with us!!

But, quick and easy is good this time of year!

Based on this sketch by Angela Walters.

ColorLab21

Thursday!! Again?!!?? I'm getting further behind every day, anybody else!! But the good news-we have an AWESOME challenge today at the ColorLab! Ready for a break to play along???  Here is the challenge:

Real Red, Soft Suede & River Rock

And, here is what I did with it!

You can't have too much bling on a Christmas card, right? It doesn't show very well, but it all sparkles!! The card base is Soft Suede, with a layer of Real Red behind the background River Rock. I stamped the snowflakes from Snow Swirled on the River Rock in Craft Real Red and embossed with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder. The top layer of River Rock was stamped with Dasher and the saying in Craft Soft Suede and also embossed. I knotted a Real Red Satin ribbon between the saying and Dasher and attached it to a Soft Suede layer. Then I started adding Rhinestones!!

That's it! Thanks for stopping by. I do hope you'll stop by the ColorLab and play along with us this week.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 121010

Happy Friday! Time for another Sketch Frenzy Friday creation and sketch!  Here is the card I came up with:

based on this sketch by Sharon Field:

My card base is Night of Navy with a background print DSP in Riding Hood Red from the Love Letter pack. I inked the large flower from Inspired by Nature with Night of Navy and Riding Hood Red using sponge daubers. I stamped that on Naturals Ivory and punched with my new 2-1/2" Circle Punch. I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to add the small flower as well on the left side. I sponged the edge with Night of Navy before attaching over my Navy wide striped grosgrain. I stamped the saying with Night of Navy Craft Ink and embossed with Clear EP so it would show more than just with Classic Ink. Those dots overwhelm it!!  The Photo Corner punch layers were added to the corner, Riding Hood Red behind Naturals Ivory. Lastly, 3 flower brads in Vanilla accent the ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by, we hope you'll play along with us this week! You will find a place to add your link on the main blog HERE. ColorLab20

We're back!! Thursday again means ColorLab Color Challenge. And, this week, definitely a Christmas inspiration!!!  Here are the colors for the week:

Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green & Old Olive.
PERFECT for Christmas creations!!

Here is what I came up with:

Card base is Cherry Cobbler, wheeled in Cherry Cobbler with the Sparkle & Shine Jumbo Wheel. I added some white Gel pen to the images, over the dots and snowflakes. 'Noel' from the Big on Christmas set was stamped in Garden Green on Whisper White then colored with markers in Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive & Garden Green. After coloring, I traced the outline of the image again with Garden Green. The Whisper White is layered on Garden Green and Old Olive. It needed something to 'jazz' it up, so I added a piece of Clear Tinsel. That's it, pretty quick and easy!

Stop by the ColorLab and play along, won't you? You know you NEED a break from all the Christmas prep!!  :)  Thanks for stopping by!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 120910

Friday! For me, good and bad news that another week has gone by! I'm sure I'm not alone in that feeling this time of year. Hope you all have great weekend plans, and make sure there's some stamping in those plans!!

On to the Sketch Frenzy Friday card creation and sketch! Here is my card:

And here is the sketch by Tina Taves that was our starting point!

I struggled with where to start with this one, but finally settled on the Flower Folds Die as my center image, or the circle on the sketch. Next I settled on the In Color DSP for the flowers, in Concord Crush. From there the Color Coach let me to Pear Pizzazz for the background DSP and Daffodil Delight for the center button. Not my usual creation process, but I do like how it came out.

Card base is Concord Crush, background layer is Pear Pizzazz DSP from the In Color Patterns Stack. The two smallest flowers on the Flower Folds die were cut and layered, opposite sides showing. In the center is a Daffodil Delight button with white thread knotted in the center. I did add a 1" Concord Crush circle in the center of the flowers, and a Whisper White 3/4" Circle under the button because the yellow of the Daffodil wasn't looking real yellow on the Concord. I knotted a Concord Crush Stitched-Poly ribbon around under the flower and added the saying, from Word Play, in Concord Crush bottom center.

Howdy all! So sorry for the lack of posts! 'Tis the season right? The season to be SOOOO busy you can't find time to stamp! I'm feeling very behind this year!! No ColorLab challenge today. We had an administrative mix up, but hopefully we'll be back next week with great challenges to finish out this year!

Here is a card I sent a friend recently for her birthday. A side-step card, with cupcakes! And glitter! Too fun!! Here is the view from the front:

And, one more from the side so you can see the steps:

The "glitter" is Iridescent Ice embossing powder. For the cupcakes, I stamped them first, inking with markers in Early Espresso & Melon Mambo. Then I cut them out and covered them with Versamark ink. Sprinkle on the embossing powder and heat. For the front panel, I stamped it first, also inking with markers. Then I covered the entire Very Vanilla piece with Versamark and added the embossing powder. After embossing I added Rhinestones to the hats.

Hopefully I'll have a few things to share this month, but it may be sparse!! We do have club this weekend, so I'll have some ornaments to share after that. Sketch Frenzy Friday is always here on Friday, and next week ColorLab should be back on Thursday! Hope you all are enjoying the start of the Holiday Season and NOT stressing out! I'm headed to the tread mill for a bit, then on to a day of projects!! Thanks for stopping by, hope to see you again here VERY soon!!
