Gala Word Play

It took me all evening, but I finally got a card made, just for fun! Well, actually for the Stampin' Royalty Sketch Challenge this week. I've had an out of sorts weekend and just didn't get much done. Good news though, I can see much more of the floor of my stampin' room!! Ok, here is their sketch:

And here is what I did with it!

It came out very bright! I was aiming for something different than all the Fall & Holiday stuff I've been doing! Card base is actually Whisper White that you can't see, a 4x4 square that sits just inside the scallops on the Chocolate Chip Scallop Square. Background is from the Greenhouse Gala DSP. A rectangle of Chocolate Chip & Baja Breeze sit behind the ovals of Chocolate Chip & Whisper White. I stamped the saying from Word Play in Chocolate Chip and sponged the edge with Daffodil Delight. The flowers were cut using the Flower Burst Ebosslit from Daffodil Delight & Pumpkin Pie. I added a Champagne Glitter brad in the center of each before attaching with a dimensional. Two glitter brads also on the side for accent.

Hope you all had a good weekend! Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for lots coming this week! 4 more Jester clues for the Royal Blog Tour that starts Friday. And the SUDSOL Blog Tour is Wednesday. ColorLab on Thursday, and the colors for this week look very intriguing!! Come back and see all the goods!

Fox & Friends Baby Card

It's been a LONG time since I made a baby card, but a friend asked for one the other day so I gave it my best shot! I don't have much left in the way of Baby sets, seems they keep retiring them on me! But, I pulled out Fox and Friends after seeing the sample in the catty. It works pretty well! And the colors could be changed up and used for girl or neutral! This one was for a boy.

Card base is Marina Mist. Background is Whisper White stamped with animals in Marina Mist, Old Olive, So Saffron & Crumb Cake. I Ticket Corner punched the corners and sponged the edge with Marina Mist. I put a narrow Taffeta Marina Mist ribbon around the center. Attached over the ribbon is another owl in Marina Mist with a Congratulations from Occasional Quotes. Another ribbon across the center, matted on Marina Mist and attached. The inside of the card has the matching saying from the set, "A baby is God's opinion that the world should go on. -Carl Sandburg". Cute, quick and easy!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope to be back to more regular posting. I've been busy prepping Blog Tour projects for next week. Stop back by, you won't want to miss either! SUDSOL on Wednesday, and the Royal Blog Tour Friday-Monday.

ColorLab16

Howdy all!  Ready for another Thursday in the ColorLab?? Fun colors as usual!

Peach Parfait, Daffodil Delight & Basic Black.

Quite the adventure for me! I'm a procrastinator by nature and of course didn't do my project ahead. While watching tv tonight and tinkering with a different project, our power went off (blaming the wind?!?). Oh, what a challenge to get out of my room! My 13 year old son was in there with me as we seem to have similar TV interests (3 TV's, 4 people)! Luckily I had my Blackberry for a little light-it shouldn't be such a challenge to leave a room! Step here, dodge that...Add cleaning Stamp Room to top of To Do list!! ha!!

Anyway, after an hour in the dark, and browsing the catty for ideas by candle light, this is what I came up with!

Card base is Basic Black. Background accent layer of Daffodil Delight behind the stamped Whisper White background. I decided on the Simply Said set that hasn't seen ink for quite some time! I stamped the floral heart in Daffodil Delight and added the heart saying around it in Basic Black. I did use the Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement on the heart and flowers. Next I added some solid Peach Parfait flowers and Basic Black outlines. Then some fun little flowers in both Daffodil Delight and Peach Parfait. I grabbed the Corner Ticket punch for the Whisper White Corners and sponged the edges with Peach Parfait. I tied a Peach Parfait ribbon around the center before attaching the layers. For the saying, I stamped the saying in Basic Black, then added the floral heart image in Daffodil Delight and the very small flowers in Peach Parfait. I punched with the Wide Oval and attached to a Decorative Label of Peach Parfait. I opened my fun Bright Designer Buttons and pulled out two small flowers. I dug up some white embroidery thread and knotted it in the center before attaching with a glue dot.

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure you stop by the ColorLab and play along! We'd love to see your creations!

Open House Northern Flurry

Finally, the last card, and maybe my favorite, from Open House last weekend. This was the last one to come together, but I was VERY happy with the final result!!

Card base is Rich Razzleberry. Background is Shimmery White that I textured with the Northern Flurry embossing folder. We added Rhinestones to the center of about 4 snowflakes. A Rich Razzleberry Taffeta ribbon was tied around the Shimmery White near the left side. I moved the knot toward the top so I had room for the greeting element below. Around the knot I tied a piece of the Clear Tinsel Trim (Love it!!). If you haven't tried the Tinsel Trim yet, what are you waiting for?? They are too fun!! The Razzleberry Snowflakes were cut with the Northern Frost Big Shot die. The greeting was a little tricky, but gave everyone a chance to review how to use the Stamp-a-ma-jig! The Season's Greeting is a long saying stamp. So we first punched our Scallop Oval of Shimmery White. Usually I preach "stamp first" but not in this case! I suggest a bit of adhesive on the back of the scallop to stick to your work paper. Ink just the "Greetings" with the Razzleberry marker and place as desired, lower center, of the scallop oval. Clean the stamp very well and ink the "Season's". Again use the SAMJ to get perfect placement and stamp. Layer the stamped scalloped oval onto a Razzleberry oval cut with the Punch Window set. On the back of your oval, put several strips of Snail and attach to pieces of Tinsel in an X so that the edges stick out behind. Attach the snowflakes to the card base with Mini Glue Dots, then used dimensionals on the back of the oval to attach over the snowflakes. Trim Tinsel as desired.

Thanks for stopping by-I hope I've inspired you today!! Quiet weekend here, hoping to get some Blog Tour projects completed!!

Open House Contempo Christmas

Sorry for the delay in getting back with these, but here is card three from the weekend! It just so happens to use Contempo Christmas & Jolly Holiday DSP which are one of the bundles from the ABC's of the Perfect Handmade Holiday Special. Get yours today-this is a GREAT combo-so many options!!

Card base is Old Olive, background is one of the strip prints from the Jolly Holiday DSP. The Cherry Cobbler square was cut with the new Scallop Square Duo die. A Very Vanilla square sits inside the Cherry scallop square. The ornament was stamped in Cherry Cobbler on Vanilla. We added two medium rhinestones, attached the ornament to a Decorative Label of Old Olive and attached to the Vanilla square with Dimensionals. We used the Paper Piercer and the soft mat from the Mat Pack and punched holes in the scallops. For the saying, we stamped Merry Christmas in Old Olive on Vanilla and punched with the Wide Oval. We used the Paper Piercer and the grid guide & soft mat from the Mat Pack and punched a line of holes under the Merry Christmas and then layered it onto a Cherry Cobbler Decorative Label punch. Attach your large scallop square very near the top, and the saying very near the bottom so that you have room for a strip of Cherry Cobber Seam Binding across the center. I attached it just to the back of the DSP with Snail.  Next we added a string of the Silver Tinsel Trim, again attaching to the back of the DSP. Apply plenty of Snail and attach the DSP to the card base. Lastly, tie a small piece of Silver Tinsel Trim in a knot in the center of the strip across the card.

Thanks for stopping by!  I'm working on Blog Tour projects today, have a couple of tours coming up! More details this coming week on both. Last Open House project will post tomorrow!

ColorLab15

It's Thursday, got your Lab Coat?? Time for another ColorLab Color Challenge!

Poppy Parade, More Mustard and So Saffron.

Here is what I did with them!!

Quick and easy really! Card base is Poppy Parade that I textured the front of with the Finial Press embossing folder. The Top Note was cut from Naturals White. The set used is Upsy Daisy. I saw a card made the other day with this set and decided it had been far too long since I used it! I first stamped the flower image with So Saffron. I cleaned the stamp and inked the image again with More Mustard, then sponged on Poppy Parade to the tops of the flowers. I used the stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the second image just a bit above and the original. The edges of the Top Note are sponged with More Mustard. I added two metallic brads at the top and bottom points of the Top Note. I used my Crop-a-Dile to punch a few holes on the side points to thread the ribbon through and knot on the left side. The saying was inked first in More Mustard, then "rolled" in Poppy Parade. I punched it with the Large Oval, and layered on a Scallop Punched More Mustard and a Punch Window Poppy Parade.

I hope you'll stop by the ColorLab and play along!  Link your creation for all to see !!

PPA Fall Inspiration

Taking a break tonight from sharing Open House samples and instead sharing a card I created for the Pals Paper Inspiration challenge of the week. Here is the inspiration photo

And here is what I came up with.

The picture shows many colors, but the Vanilla, Brown, Green & Gold to me said Old Olive, Early Espresso, More Mustard and Naturals Ivory. Makes you want to grab a sweater doesn't it?? And the sweater also made me think texture, so I tried another background similar to the card done HERE over the weekend. And of course I had to use the French Foliage set!! Card base is Olive. Background is Naturals Ivory stamped with leaves in Early Espresso, Old Olive & More Mustard, and splatter dots in River Rock. The edge was sponged with River Rock, then the entire piece textured in the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder. Across the center I put a wide Old Olive grosgrain ribbon, then the Victoria Crochet Trim. I added a second piece of Victoria and attached an Antique Brad through the ribbons.  The saying is from the Level 3 Hostess set, Occasional Quotes. It was stamped in Espresso on Naturals Ivory.  I added a light Olive & Mustard leaf (after stamping off once) and River Rock splatter dots.  That's it!

I will pop back in tomorrow with supplies used.  It's getting late and I'm working tomorrow (after almost a week off!), better get some zzz's!

Open House Just Believe

Here is card two from the Open House yesterday. When I saw this card by fellow Demo Marie a few weeks back, I knew it would be a great card for my Open House. I changed it up slightly and here is the version we made, well one anyway. There are two versions of the DSP, and I didn't scan the second. Maybe I'll add it later.

Card base is Poppy Parade. Background is one of the prints from the DSP pack: the word print is one side of the paper, the dots are the reverse side. I cut it layer size for the background, then cut the bottom and reversed it. We cut a strip of Poppy with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon border and attached over the seam. The main image was stamped after coloring the stamp with markers, Pear Pizzazz for the stems, Poppy Parade for the flowers. It is layered onto Poppy and attached to the card front. Next, we did some punching! The floral circled image was stamped in Poppy Parade on Whisper White and punched with the 1-1/4" Circle punch and then layered onto a Poppy Parade 1-3/8" Circle. The saying (one of the 3 from the set, all work) was stamped in Poppy and punched with the Word Window punch before layering onto a Poppy Parade Modern Label. We added brads to the tab of the label. The Modern Label is attached to the  circles with snail, the the circle is attached the card front with dimensionals. Great card and think of all the colors you could do this in that would be just as pretty! Thanks again Marie for this GREAT idea!!

Open House French Foliage

My belated World Card Making Day Open Houses were today. Great stamping day!!!  LOVE it when I have a house full of stampers!!  As someone said on their way out the door, maybe we need to do this more often :)  Here is card one from today.

My new favorite fall set! These leaves blend SOO well together. Colors are Elegant Eggplant, Garden Green and More Mustard, a Color Coach combo. Card base is Elegant Eggplant. Background layer is Naturals Ivory. We stamped it first with leaves in Elegant Eggplant, More Mustard and Garden Green. Bare areas were filled in with River Rock 'spots'. The edges were sponged with River Rock before texturing in the Big Shot with the Square Lattice folder. The saying is from All Holidays. I also had an alternate saying available, the "Sending Thanksgiving Wishes with Gratitude & Appreciation for you" from the Seasonal Sentiments set in the Holiday Mini. For the saying, we stamped it on Naturals Ivory in Elegant Eggplant and then added two Mustard leaves and some River Rock spots. The Very Vanilla wide grosgrain ribbon was knotted around the background layer. I added a safety pin to the knot from the Vintage Trinkets because it needed just a little something more. The saying was layered onto a Garden Green layer and attached with dimensionals over the ribbon. Quick and easy card!

Stay tuned this week for the other 3 cards done today! Hopefully back to regular stamping this week, once I get everything put away anyway!! :)

ColorLab14

Thursday again! Wow! Lots of to do's on my schedule today! But I'm very much looking forward to Open Houses this weekend! Time with my stampers is the BEST!!

Anyway, to the ColorLab challenge of the week!  Here is the inspiration

CAJUN CRAZE, EARLY ESPRESSO, CRUMB CAKE & VERY VANILLA

And here is what I did with it!

I grabbed my Autumn Days set knowing the bird would be great in Cajun Craze. Card base is Early Espresso, background is Crumb Cake. I stamped the background with 3 images: the tall stem like image in Crumb Cake, the shorter stem image in Early Espresso and the leaf in Cajun Craze, all around the edges. I textured the whole background image with the Square Lattice embossing folder. The Top Note was cut from Naturals Ivory (used in place of Very Vanilla). First, I stamped the pheasant in  the center. Then I cut a mask and stamped the stems over him and leaves along the top and bottom edge. I used my wooden craft frame and put the Top Note through the Big Shot also in the embossing folder. The oval in the center is not embossed because of the oval in the craft frame. I them stamped another pheasant and cut it out. On this one, I thumped it just a little with the Early Espresso marker. It's attached right over the first one with dimensionals. The saying is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and was stamped in Early Espresso on Naturals Ivory.  I punched it with the large oval, layered on a Cajun Craze scallop punched oval, layered on an Early Espresso  Movers & Shapers Punch Window scallop oval. I stamped two leaves over the saying after stamping off once to lighten their impression. Lastly, metallic brads are placed at the top 3 points of the Top Note.

Thanks for stopping by, do stop by The ColorLab and play along!  Back to cutting, cleaning & cooking for me!!

Plate Update

Part of my prep for next weekend was to update my decorative plate that hangs out on the bar in my kitchen.  And of course I had to use the French Foliage set!  Love those leaves-they so fit the season!!

The ribbon was in my closet and I'm sure came from one of the craft store chains.  The colors in it to me seemed to be More Mustard, Always Artichoke and Cherry Cobbler.  I used Craft ink on the plate since Classic runs.  Remember that we can get the Craft Spots by family or the big Craft pad uninked (in the Holiday Mini) and refills. The alphabet used is the retired Well-Worn Alphabet.

Hanging out next to the plate is my Spooky Spider candy jar.  I made this last year with the Spooky Spider Decor element.  When my son and I stumbled across Halloween candy while shopping the other day, I told him we had to get out the spider jar!  Only trouble is keeping it full with two teenage boys in the house!

Season of Friendship Get Well

I should be cleaning or prepping something for next weekend, but I decided I'd rather make a card. Sometimes you just need some creative time! So I browsed my favorite challenges and decided to combine a color and sketch. The color challenge is at Hand Stamped Sentiments, and the sketch is the Saturday Sketch at Stamping 411. Here is what I came up with, after a brief struggle as to where to start!

I decided in the process why I like this set, Season of Friendship. It lets you put colors together that wouldn't work as well with other sets. And with the different tree elements, it gives you lots of options!!

Card base is Early Espresso, background is Pear Pizzazz DSP.  In the center, I stamped the tree in Espresso and added tons of leaves with Pear. Some leaves are full strength, some stamped off once.  I stamped three flowers in Real Red and two birds in Pacific Point, cut them out and attached with dimensionals. Oh, the flowers have Early Espresso brads in the center.  Layered onto Early Espresso, and attached over a narrow grosgrain ribbon in Espresso.  Get Well Wishes from Teeny Tiny Wishes was added in Pacific Point at the bottom right of the tree panel.

Thanks for stopping by!  I need to do something productive before calling it a night!

ColorLab13

Wow, it's been one of THOSE weeks! No posts since last Thursday. I am working on things though, just can't share them yet!! Hopefully this weekend I can get ahead on my prep and stuff for Open Houses and stamp some for fun!!

Anyway, it's Thursday and we all know what that means... Another ColorLab Color Challenge! Number 13 already!!

Here is the inspiration

Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black

Here is what I came up with

Card base is Basic Black. Tight layer of Cherry Cobbler behind the Naturals Ivory. The En Francais background was stamped in Basic Black on the Naturals Ivory. I inked the Medallion first in Cherry Cobbler, then went around the outside edge with Early Espresso. I stamped it off to one side on purpose. I added both a Basic Black and an Early Espresso 1/8" Taffeta ribbon around the center. Last accent is a Cherry Cobbler button with Early Espresso knotted in the center.

Quick and easy for me tonight!  I hope you'll all stop over by the ColorLab and play along!
