Sketch Frenzy Friday 083112

Happy Friday all! Hope you had a good week. A long one here, but all in all, not too bad! Several more things on my agenda though before getting any weekend time :)

On to the reason you're here: Sketch Frenzy Friday! A great sketch this week by Tammy Fite. Here is my creation

When I saw the angled squares, I immediately thought DSP. The perfect solution! I looked thought my options, and settled on this happy floral print from the Floral District pack. The colors are Tangerine Tango and Lucky Limeade. I'm dragging a little bit tonight, and this seemed the perfect "pick me up" print! I textured the background of the card (the card base) with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. The DSP was layered onto Lucky Limeade for contrast and attached to the background with Mini Glue Dots. The saying is from Sassy Salutations and was stamped in Tangerine Tango on Whisper White and then layered onto Tangerine Tango before attaching over the DSP squares with dimensionals. Lastly, I added two of the small flowers from the Paper Daisies. I colored them (gently!) with my Lucky Limeade marker, then added a Whisper White brad and attached with a Mini Glue Dot.

Happy Friday all! Hope you've had a good week!

As you know, Friday means another round of Sketch Frenzy Friday!! We hope you can play along with us this week!! Here is what I came up with

Great sketch! Fairly open, with lots of room for creativity!! I'm still in a Fall mood, and it's been feeling like it around here, so I grabbed French Foliage. This is my all time favorite leaf set-it blends together so well!! I used Lucky Limeade, Rich Razzleberry and Pumpkin Pie with accents of River Rock. The "thank you" is from Sassy Salutations and was stamped first at the bottom. Then random leaves above that. I textured most of the card front above the saying with the Houndstooth folder in the Big Shot (YES-I have one back!!). Then I attached a Lucky Limeade ribbon above the word and added Lucky Limeade brads. Pretty quick and easy-another reason to love this set!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 081712

Happy Friday all!!! Much better weather here this week-almost feels like Fall! I'm hoping it stays this way!! Still dry though and hoping for rain. 

As you know, Friday means another round of Sketch Frenzy Friday. Here is my creation of the week

Not a lot of creativity displayed on my part-no brain power left at this point in the day! But, this sketch is a great one that doesn't need much else :)  I stood at my stamp cupboard and browsed stamps to see what might work. I saw this set, Baby Prints and couldn't get past it-had to use it!! I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that I have a Senior this year ;)

The card base is Midnight Muse with a background layer of Bashful Blue DSP. "Cherish the Moments" was stamped in Midnight Must on the DSP and Midnight Muse ribbon added for the 3 strips on the left. The hands were stamped in Midnight Muse on Whisper White and layered onto Midnight Muse before attaching to the background. The final accent, a Whisper White button with Whisper White Bakers Twine attached in the center of the ribbon.

Club Card 3: Blooming Thank You

Finally-card 3 from Club last weekend!!

I tried to keep this one simple! The card base is Basic Gray with a background of Primrose Petals DSP with an accent of Primrose Petals. The main element is Naturals White card stock cut with one of the new Apothecary Accents Framelits. On the Framelit, we used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the flower from Blooming with Kindness and the "Thank You". The flower was inked using the Rock-n-roll technique. To do that, we first inked the flower with Primrose Petals, then rolled the edges on the Raspberry Ripple ink pad. Metallic (silver) brads were added to each side point before attaching with dimensionals to the card base.

Started with making pancakes for my guys, then a double batch of Salsa to use up our abundance of tomatoes. We now have 15 pints to add to the 8 I did earlier in the week! I am ready to call it a day and it isn't even 7 pm yet!! Hope to see you all again soon :)

Club Card 2: Stacked Butterflies

This card is a CASE of one in the SU! Catalog (page 6). It looked too fun not to try!! Here is my version:

I rarely use the Subtles colors so I decided to give them a shot on this one! The card base is Perfect Plum with Whisper White backgrounds. The edge of the layer was cut using one of the new Finishing Touches Edgelits. The butterflies were all stamped on the Whisper White center piece. I started at the bottom with Perfect Plum, Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi, So Saffron and Pretty in Pink. The Wild Wasabi one was also stamped on a separate piece of Whisper White and punched out with the coordinating Elegant Butterfly punch. It was attached directly over the one we stamped with a small piece of dimensional in the center. Final accent: a Subtles button with Whisper White Bakers Twine knotted  in the center. No place for words on this one really and its just fine without!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 081012

Happy Friday all! Better week here with cooler temps! Still dry, but the cool helps!!! Spent today getting my boys ready for school. Doesn't seem possible that they start back Monday, but they do! I do like the routine of school, but I'm not ready for the days to zip by! My oldest is a Senior and I know it will be a crazy year!!

On to the reason you're here: Sketch Frenzy Friday!! It is amazing that I was able to come up with something!! I was running ideas through  my mind, picturing things with some of the new Framelits dies when I remembered: I don't have a working Big Shot. Oh no!! While prepping for Club last weekend, it didn't feel right on a couple of runs. Then it just stopped functioning :( It's seen many cuts and was just done I guess!! I have a new one on order, but it hasn't made it to my hands yet. So, after a bit of panic-really?? this sketch without a Big Shot??- I settled down and looked around to see what I might have cut already. Here is what I came up with

Not too bad?? The Green Label could have been a size smaller but it was one I had left over from Open House. I started there, then choose a color set from the Color Coach: Gumball Green, So Saffron & Melon Mambo. The background is So Saffron Designer Series Paper with an accent of Melon Mambo. I punched two Melon Mambo Decorative Labels and layered together under the featured layer. I stamped the bicycle from this years Ronald McDonald set Moving Forward on Whisper White. It has a saying included so one and done!! I used Markers to get all three colors on the one stamp. Well two actually-the flowers are separate. The final accent is a So Saffron Taffeta ribbon bow.

Club Card 1: Triple Time French Foliage

I was browsing around for ideas last weekend, and stumbled upon the Triple Time technique by Dawn Olchefske at DOstamping with Dawn. I've always liked Dawn's creations and this technique is just awesome! Simple, yet WOW!! Watch her video and you'll be stamping away in no time!! Just imagine all the stamps that will work with this! I chose leaves because I'm very over Summer and ready to move on to Fall. My girls mentioned snowflakes, flowers, bunnies/eggs for Easter, and more!!

OK, here is the card we made at Club.

This is also one of my favorite Fall sets and color combinations! Elegant Eggplant, Tangerine Tango & Daffodil Delight. Oh, and don't forget the Crumb Cake splatters :)  

The sizes of the layers:

Very Vanilla               Eggplant

2 x 3-1/4                   2-1/4 x 3-1/2

3 x 4-1/4                   3-1/4 x 4-1/2

4 x 5-1/4                   4-1/4 x 11 (base, folded to 4-1/4 x 5)

Line all 3 Vanilla layers up, attach gently together, and stamp. I started with the larger leaf in Elegant Eggplant, then the medium (fat) leaf in Tangerine Tango and lastly the small leaf in Daffodil Delight. We also stamped the saying first on the lower corner of the top layer just so we didn't end up with a leaf right there. After the leaves are stamped, go over it all with the splatter image in Crumb Cake. I stamped some full strength, some off once. Basically, ink and stamp twice before inking again.

Attach your largest Very Vanilla to the card base, and each of the smaller Vanilla's to their coordinating layer, and then together. Before attaching to the base, add a Tangerine Tango ribbon across both layers with an Antique Brad accent. Attach the entire element to the base with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Awesome isn't it??!!?? Thanks so much Dawn for this great idea! I hope to find time to play this week and try out a few other sets with this technique!!

Open House Star Tree

Recently realized I never posted the 4th project from Open Houses back in July. Guess I got distracted. That's a pretty common thing these days!! The sad part-this is the only card that was an original creation!! The others were all inspired by something I saw out on the 'net!

This features the new stamp, Star Tree. Great new stamp for Christmas!! It's a single stamp. The colors here are Gumball Green and Shimmery White. And the tree was embossed with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder so it would sparkle. Christmas trees have to sparkle!! Did you know with our new pad style you can emboss the Dye inks?? Yep! Pretty cool! Because you're getting more ink on your stamp, you have time to emboss the image before it dries. I do think there is a little less dimension to the embossing than with a pigment ink, but it does work!!

The card base is Gumball Green with a Shimmery White background that was embossed with the new Argyle Embossing Folder. At the bottom is what was supposed to be a "cheater bow" using the Basic Glimmer Brads and the new Gumball Green ribbon. This is the bow where you open the back of a brad and insert the ribbon: one piece folded over the represent the "bow" and a straight piece for the back. I didn't have trouble when making my samples, but the new brads I received did not cooperate at all! I think its a combination of the coating that goes on the brads, and weak legs on the brads. If we could get the brads to open on the back, the legs broke before we could insert ribbon and re-close. Anyway, remember to use this idea on occasion, just maybe not with Glimmer brads!! :)

The tree was stamped on Shimmery White card stock in Gumball Green and embossed Iridescent Ice EP. We stamped the saying, from the new set More Merry Messages, on a strip of Gumball Green, embossed it as well, and punched with the Oval Punch. The tree image was cut with one of the Labels Collection Framelits and layered onto the next size up of Gumball Green.

The label element was attached to the background with dimensionals. The saying, with a dimensional on one side, and Snail Adhesive on the other.

I decided to go Holiday or Winter since I'm so tired of the heat this summer! It has not been a fun summer and I'm just ready to move on!! Bring on the snowflakes!!

My card base is Cherry Cobbler with a Gumball Green accent layer behind the snowflake print DSP from the Be of Good Cheer pack. Across the top is a Gumball Green ribbon. I did the cheater bow and tied a knot with Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine. I didn't really mean for it to be seen, but you can a little. Over that is a Large Pearl. I stamped the snowman from Snow Much Fun on Very Vanilla with Black Stazon and colored with Blender pens. Cherry Cobbler for the hat and button, Gumball Green for the scarf and boots, and a little Sahara Sand for the shadows. I added some Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details on the buttons and hat.
