Sketch Frenzy Friday 072712

Happy Friday all! Hope you've had a GREAT week! Still too hot and too dry here as I type this-hoping and PRAYING for rain!! It is in the area tonight, just not here. Yet.

Time for another round of Sketch Frenzy Friday!! Here is the card I came  up with

based on this sketch by Patrice Herrera

As usual, I did not give this card the time it deserved. I'm happy with it, but always think it could have been better :)

One of my customers asked about the Paper Daisies at my Open House, and it got me to thinking about them. Yes, I know they've been there for a while, I just haven't considered using them for anything. Thanks Joey for putting them back on my radar!! I decided they were the perfect element for this sketch!! My colors are Not Quite Navy, So Saffron and Pool Party. Thanks Color Coach! I stamped the So Saffron background in So Saffron withe the Distressed Dots background stamp. Love the new ink pads for backgrounds!! Great coverage with very little effort!! I stamped on the flowers with Not Quite Navy ink using one of the circle from Circle Circus. I sponged the edges lightly with So Saffron, added a Pool Party brad to the center, and attached at the end of a Not Quite Navy Taffeta Ribbon. The saying is from Pursuit of Happiness.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 072012

Happy Friday all!! As you know, that means it's time for another round of Sketch Frenzy!!

Here is the card I created

based on this sketch by Maria Vanderform.

I was a little rushed, so it probably could have been better, but I can live with it! I decided to use the one In Color I haven't much, if at all-Primrose Petals. I paired it with Soft Suede knowing the brads I wanted to use would coordinate with that. Card base is Soft Suede, background is Primrose with Primrose DSP prints at the bottom. Across the center is a Victoria Crochet Trim. The flower is from Blooming with Kindness and was stamped on a 3-1/2" circle of Very Vanilla. I attached that over the ribbon and background papers, leaving part of the circle off the edge of the card. I added an Antique Brad on the lower edge of the circle, and 3 metallic brads top right as per the sketch. Once I had it all together, I used my paper cutter and cut off the edge of the circle that overhung the edge of the card. Pretty quick and easy really!!

Open House Papillion Potpourri

Card three from the weekend. Again, inspired by something I saw online! Love that SU! Stampers are SOOOO willing to share their creations to inspire everyone!! This one was inspired by Mary Jo Price-Williams at TechnoStamper. You can see her version HERE. She posted this as her Son was getting out of school (June 20). Here, on July 17, my Boys are on the down hill back to school-starting August 13. They don't like to hear that though!! ;)

Anyway, here is my card!!

Just a little different than Mary Jo's. My card base is Rich Razzleberry with a Basic Gray accent layer behind the Whisper White background. I chose to use the Chevron Embossing Folder to emboss the top portion of the card. The saying is from Friendly Phrases. My customers had their choice of the 3 butterflies that fit the new punch. I curled the butterfly slightly using the Piercing Tool, attached him with a partial dimensional in the center, then added 3 small rhinestones to the body. Quick, easy, but a GREAT card! Thanks Mary Jo for the inspiration!!

Open House Serene Silhouettes

Howdy all! Here is card two from the weekend! This one was inspired by my friend Deb over at ARTfelt Impressions. It was part of her Control Freak creations in June. You can see her version HERE. Deb has a very clean, simple style that always catches my eye! I knew this card would be perfect for Open Houses!! Here is my version

The card base is the new In Color, Summer Starfruit. I cut a template out of card stock using the new Apothecary Accents Framelits. We sponged through the template with Summer Starfruit ink onto Naturals White Card Stock. Then, we used the new Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce holes just inside the outline of the sponged shape. Then, we stamped the flower image from Serene Silhouettes and "Happiness" from Loving Thoughts in Early Espresso. We knotted an Early Espresso 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain ribbon around just at the bottom of the flowers. Layer it all together and done! Great card!!

Thanks Deb for the inspiration!! I'm so grateful for all the stampers out there that share ideas!! They make my job so much easier!!

Open House Blooming Kindness

Card one from the weekend. I was inspired for this one by Connie Babbert over at InkspiredTreasures.  She wasn't real happy about her card at the time, see it HERE, but I loved it!! Here is my version.

I added a layer and a ribbon and used the striped DSP. The more I see these two colors together, the more I like it!

The card base is Midnight Muse, the background is Raspberry Ripple that was textured with the new Fancy Fan Embossing Folder. I didn't emboss all the way across, leaving a smooth outside edge to attach the DSP to. The stripe Midnight Muse print is from the In Color 2012-2014 Stack. The ribbon is the new Raspberry Ripple 3/8" Stitched Satin. The top layer is Whisper White, and the Midnight Muse under it was cut to layer but I attached it crooked for accent. It is attached with dimensionals to sit over the ribbon, then the White was attached to it with Snail. Two of the larger pears were added top right for another accent. I love the clean, simple look of this card!! It was very well received by my girls yesterday. And, the possibilities for other color combinations are endless!!

Thank you Connie for your inspiration!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 071312

Happy Friday all! Busy week here! Hope you've had a good one!! I'm very much looking forward to Open Houses this weekend and seeing all my stampers!!

As you know, Friday means another Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge and mini tour. Here is the card I created

based on this sketch by Kim Innis

After an initial panic-this is a much "busier" sketch than I'm used to-I started thinking and it came together pretty well. I looked at the two top panels and thought of the new set, Serene Silhouettes. And bonus-it has a round image too! I grabbed the new Summer Starfruit color-a very earth yellow-and got to work! I embossed the flower and tree images in White on the word pattern DSP and layered onto Summer Starfruit card stock. On the flower, I accented the flower with Summer Starfruit ink using a sponge dauber. Dab the ink on, rub it off the embossed image with a tissue. The I used White brads on the right side for the center element and the saying from Blessings from Heaven on the left panel. The ribbon is the 1/8" Taffeta in Very Vanilla. I never mix Vanilla and White, but I think this works as it has the white edge. All the other ribbons were too wide!

Serene Silhouettes Freshly Made

I snuck in a little play time tonight, even though I should have been working on stuff for my Open Houses this weekend. I will probably be sorry later, but I couldn't pass up this sketch at Freshly Made Sketches by my friend Jen Timko.

Here is the card I made

and here is the sketch. Clean and simple-my favorite kind!!

I went with a color scheme of Early Espresso and Regal Rose. I used the coordinating DSP from the Color Collection packs for the background prints. Love these packs and the fact that I have DSP in several prints to choose from, in every color!! I inked the image from Serene Silhouettes with the Regal Rose and Early Espresso markers and stamped on Whisper White. The saying is from Friendly Phrases. Final accent, an Antique Brad.

Thanks for stopping by today!! This will probably be it for me for the week-lots of cutting and prep work ahead for me this week. And, my oldest son is leaving for Europe with a school group on Tuesday. Yikes!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 070612

Happy Friday all! Hope you had a good week! Not bad here aside from too hot and dry!!

Friday means another round of the Sketch Friday Challenge!! And this week, the sketch is by me!! Here is the card I came up with

based on this sketch

I tried out several new things on this one! The card base is the new In Color, Raspberry Ripple. The background is Crumb Cake that I textured with the new Fancy Fan Folder Embossing Folder (love it!!). The flower (love it too!!) is from the new Blooming with Kindness set. Not only is this a great flower, it has several great sayings with it too!! I stamped the flower is Raspberry Ripple on Whisper White and layered onto Raspberry Ripple. Repeat for the saying, using the circle punches (1-1/4" & 1-3/8") and dimensionals to attach. I opted for Crumb Cake ribbon over Raspberry Ripple as it seemed to give better contrast, especially for the Dahlia Flower that I attached over it. Pretty quick and simple-gotta love that!!
