ColorLab55

Hello all! It's the 15th and that means another ColorLab challenge!! Grab your Lab Coat and play along!! Here are the colors for this month

Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight & Marina Mist

and the card I created.

I've decided you can make Fall leaves with LOTS of different colors!! I have open houses this weekend and this was an experiment with the Baby Wipe Technique to decide if I wanted to use if for the group or not. Fun fun!! Stop by next week to see if I used it for the group, and for more details on the technique!! The short version: add drops of desired colors to a baby wipe-using reinkers, darkest to lightest, and use that as an ink pad. That is how I inked my leaves, so they are all a blend of the three colors. Over that, I stamped splatter drops in Marina Mist. The card base is Cajun Craze with a Marina Mist layer behind the Naturals Ivory background. The edge of the background was sponged with Daffodil Delight, and a Daffodil Delight grosgrain knotted around before attaching to the Marin Mist. The saying is from Blessings from Heaven, a new to me set with some great sayings. I stamped the saying over a leaf on Naturals Ivory, added some light Marina splatters around the edge, sponged with Daffodil and layered onto Marina & Cajun. The elements is attached with dimensionals over the ribbon. One final accent, I added a Marina Mist 1/8" Taffeta knot around the Daffodil ribbon knot.

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure you stop over at the ColorLab and see what the other Chemists created. And, don't forget to play along-you have an entire month!!

Time for another ColorLab challenge!!!  We hope you'll play along!! Here are the colors

LUCKY LIMEADE, RICH RAZZLEBERRY & BASIC GRAY

and here is what I came up with:

Card base is Basic Gray with an accent of Rich Razzleberry behind the Confetti Cream background. On the Confetti I stamped the floral image from Just Believe. I inked it with markers in Lucky Limeade & Rich Razzleberry. I spritzed around it with both Rich Razzleberry and Lucky Limeade and sponged the edge with Lucky Limeade. I knotted a piece of Lucky Limeade ribbon and attached it at either side of the Confetti. The saying was stamped in Basic Gray, spritzed with Rich Razzleberry & Lucky Limeade, punched with the Word Window punch, layered onto a Modern Label and attached with dimensionals.

Stop over by the ColorLab blog and see what the other Chemists' came up with! Then, play along with us! You have an entire MONTH to do it!! Hope to see you there!!

ColorLab53

Hello all!! Welcome to the new edition of the ColorLab. We will now be posting a challenge ONCE per month, on the 15th.

Here are the colors for this month's challenge:

Pool Party, Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz
& a Touch of More Mustard.

Those colors are featured in a DSP in the upcoming Holiday Mini and I couldn't resist using some!! Here is my card:

This is a VERY quick card!! I had a crazy week with the boys starting school and a weekend trip out of town for me. Of course I didn't get to this before I left, so I had to be quick tonight so it could get posted!!

Card base is Soft Suede with a Pool Party layer behind the DSP Paisley print. Isn't that awesome!! Love the print and blend of colors!! The stamp is from the Hostess set, Happiest Birthday Wishes. I inked it with markers in the challenge colors, attached to Soft Suede and then to the card base over a Pear Pizzazz ribbon. Quick, easy, clean & simple!!

Thanks for stopping by today. Head on over to the ColorLab and see what the rest of the team came up with. And then, Play Along!!!

Happy Thursday all! Long week here after a week on vacation last week! Can't seem to get back in the groove!! Oh well! You know Thursday means another great color challenge over at the ColorLab! Here are the colors:

Pool Party, So Saffron & Not Quite Navy

And, here is what I came up with.

I mounted my new Sweet Floral stamp and did the emboss resist technique. I used the First Edition DSP again. The card base is Not Quite Navy with a Pool Party & So Saffron layer behind the DSP. On the DSP, I stamped the Sweet Floral image with Versamark and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. Then I sponged color over: So Saffron for the flowers, Not Quite Navy for the stem & leaves, and Pool Party in any bare spots. The flower didn't pop quite as much as I would like so I'm guessing a darker color would be better. A Pool Party ribbon is attached around the bottom with a "Thanks So Much" from Sincere Salutations attached over on the Large & Scallop Oval punches.

Thanks for stopping by today! Make sure to stop over by the ColorLab and see what the other Chemists came up with! And, play along!! We love to see your creations!!

Thursday!! Time for another challenge over at the ColorLab! Stop over and play along-more fun with new colors this week!!

Calypso Coral, Baja Breeze & Daffodil Delight

I played with another new set for this one-Creative Elements. Lots of options!! My card base is Calypso Coral with layers of both Baja Breeze & Daffodil Delight behind a First Edition DSP background. On that background I stamped the outline floral image in Baja Breeze (click to enlarge if you can't see it). The edge of the DSP was also sponged lightly. Then I stamped 3 flowers in Daffodil Delight and 2 butterflies in Calypso Coral directly on the DSP. Then, I stamped another flower and butterfly on Very Vanilla card stock and cut out. In the center of the flower I put a Calypso Coral brad and attached over the center flower on the DSP with dimensionals. I curled the butterfly slightly and attached him over one of the background butterflies. Across the bottom I scrunched some Baja Breeze Seam Binding and attached the saying with dimensionals.

Thursday!! I think I'm almost recovered from last weekend. Almost, but not quite!! Anyway, Thursday means another fun challenge over at the ColorLab! This one was a bit of a challenge!!

Lucky Limeade, Riding Hood Red,
& Perfect Plum

Here is what I came up with! A challenge mostly because I'm dragging this week! I'm sure the heat isn't helping either!!

Card base is Riding Hood Red with a Lucky Limeade layer behind a Naturals Ivory background. On the background, I stamped the 3 stems/leaves image from Bold Blossom. To the top I added a punch flower made with the Triple Layer Blossom Bouquet punch. The back layer is Riding Hood Red. In the middle is a Perfect Plum DSP and on top, the Perfect Plum card stock outline flower. In the center of each is a new Mini Silver Brad. The flowers were attached with dimensionals. I sponged the edge of the Naturals Ivory with Perfect Plum and spritzed on a little Perfect Plum ink before attaching the flowers. Trying to get in a little more purple!! The Lucky Limeade Scallop Ribbon is attached across the bottom with the saying element layered over it with dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by today! Head over the ColorLab, check out the other Chemists' creations, and play along with us!!

ColorLab49

Thursday! Time for another ColorLab Color Challenge featuring another new In Color-Island Indigo!! I had fun with this one!! Much easier than last week :)

Here are the colors

Island Indigo, Baja Breeze &
Rich Razzleberry

 And, the card I created!

The card base is Island Indigo with a Rich Razzleberry layer under the Baja Breeze DSP background. I used two different strips of the DSP, one at the top, one at the bottom. The flower is from the new Button Buddies set. On the Whisper White strip across the center,  I stamped a Baja Breeze flower in the center, then added an Island Indigo one on each side. The Whisper White is layered onto an Island Indigo strip and attached over the seam in the DSP. In the center of each flower is a Rich Razzleberry button with White Baker's Twine knotted in the center. "Thank You" from Thank You Kindly was stamped bottom center in Island Indigo. Fun, but fairly simple!!

Thanks for stopping by today!! Make sure to stop over by the ColorLab and see what the other girls came up with! And, play along-we LOVE to see your creations!!

Stop back by tomorrow-I have a great masculine card to share. And be watching next week as I share the cards from my New Catalog Open House!! Prep is going good and I'm looking forward to seeing my Stampers this weekend!!

ColorLab48

Thursday! You know what that means: time for another ColorLab Color Challenge. And, this week features one of the new colors-Wisteria Wonder! Destined to be a favorite of mine!! LOVE any shade of purple!!

Here are the colors:

Wisteria Wonder, Cherry Cobbler
& Pink Pirouette

And, here is the card I created, after a struggle! I like these colors together, but I could not get my brain to put them together!! Not enough stamping time lately I guess!!!

Card base is Cherry Cobbler. A Wisteria Wonder card stock layer backs a Wisteria Wonder DSP print background. The DSP is the Flirtatious Specialty pack which coordinates with the stamp I chose, Delicate Doilies. It's a new set we were able to preorder. I hadn't used it yet because it never seemed to fit what I was doing. Since nothing else was clicking for these colors, I decided to MAKE it work!! Across the center is a Pink Pirouette Lace Ribbon Border. Another preorder item getting its first use! In the center is a 2-1/2" circle of Cherry Cobbler. Layered onto that is a doily stamped in Wisteria Wonder on Whisper White. I punched it with the 2-1/2" Circle punch, but then trimmed it down so it would layer onto the 2-1/2" circle of Cherry Cobbler. In the center I added a 1" circle of Pink Pirouette and a 3/4" circle of Whisper White on which I stamped "Enjoy" from You're a Gem in Cherry Cobbler. The whole circle element is attached to the card base with dimensionals.

Thursday!! Sorry this is late, Blogger is giving me fits! Hopefully this is working, though it may not be perfect!

Ready for another challenge at the ColorLab!??! It's a great one this week-ties in perfectly with the Fourth of July holiday this weekend!! Here are the colors

Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler &
 Not Quite Navy

and here is the card I created! Not quite where I was going when I started, but I like it! Very masculine!!

Card base is Night of Navy with a Cherry Cobbler layer behind the Naturals White background. On the background I stamped images from both Extreme Elements and Grunge Rock in all three colors. Some images are full strength, some are stamped off once. The edge was sponged with Not Quite Navy and then I textured it with the Square Lattice folder in the Big Shot. Across the center is a Cherry Cobbler seam binding ribbon. The Happy Birthday was inked with the markers and "split", Happy at the top, Birthday at the bottom of a Decorative Label punch. A few light accents were added, and then an Antique Brad in the center. I layered two more Decorative Labels in Night of Navy behind and attached over the ribbon with dimensionals.

Thursday, again?? Man, the weeks are zipping by!!! I really need to get back to stamping more and I hope to this weekend! I tackled a major outside project last week, but it's done. It's time to focus on the NEW catty and getting my room in order! Ha, yeah right. A girl can dream though right??

Anyway, Thursday means another ColorLab color Challenge. Check out this Color Combo!!??!! Would you naturally put them together?? I admit to not using ANY of these very often! But, at first glance I knew what set went with them, and I love the end result!!

Sahara Sand, Bravo Burgundy & Pink Pirouette

The card base is Bravo Burgundy with both a Pink Pirouette & Sahara Sand layer behind the Very Vanilla stamped background. On the Pink Pirouette and Sahara Sand I used my Cutter Kit edging tool to rough the edges. On the Very Vanilla I stamped large flowers in Bravo Burgundy, small flowers in Pink Pirouette and the vine image in Sahara Sand. Then I spritzed on some Pink Pirouette & Sahara Sand and sponged the edge with Sahara Sand. The Friends image was also stamped in Bravo Burgundy on Very Vanilla and spritzed with Pink Pirouette & Sahara Sand. I roughed the edge of this also, as well as the Pink Pirouette layer behind. Those two are mounted on Bravo Burgundy. For accent I attached a small Pink Pirouette flower with an Antique Brad in the center.

Make sure you stop over by the ColorLab and see what the other girls came up with! I always look forward to that on Thursday morning!! Then, play along with us!! We LOVE to see your creations!!!

Thursday!! My head is spinning with all that I would like to accomplish today, but before I get too worked up about that, let's have some fun at the ColorLab!! It's challenge day again! I cranked out a very quick card for this. It's been a crazy week and it's far from over!!

Here are the colors of the week

Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight &
Tempting Turquoise

And, here is what I came up with!

The card base is Tempting Turquoise with a Melon Mambo layer behind the Whisper White background. On that background, I stamped the large scallop flower from Flower Fest in all three colors. Randomly and overlapping the flowers. Love this set!! I knotted a Daffodil Delight 3/8" Taffeta ribbon around before layering the background onto the Melon Mambo. The saying was stamped in Turquoise on another piece of Whisper White and punched with the 2-1/2" Circle punch. I then added a Daffodil Delight flower over the saying. Behind the circle is two punches of Melon Mambo using the 2-3/8" Scallop Circle punch. I cut each in half and layered behind like we do with the Decorative Label punch. It's not perfect, but it works for me!! Nothing else was working for a layer behind the saying, so I made something up!!

Thanks for stopping by today. Do stop over at the ColorLab and play along. We love to see your creations!!

Thursday! Wow, what a week! I was actually thinking last week (and I should know better!!) that summer was going well and not too crazy. Then Monday happened. Late night of baseball and I'm still trying to get back on track!!

The good news is it's ColorLab day!! Grab your lab coat and play along!  Make sure to stop over by the ColorLab and see what the other girls came up with!! That is my first stop most Thursday mornings!!

Here are the colors, selected by yours truly this week!!

I was definitely thinking Spring when Julie asked for colors!! I think we've skipped right over Spring here in Nebraska. We went from cool and cloudy to hot and humid. Oh well! The flowers and things have been beautiful!! Here is my card:

Not the most creative card I've ever done, and probably not the most original (it looks quite a bit like the last card I posted), but I like it. Clean and Simple!! Card base is Concord Crush with background layers of Pear Pizzazz and Daffodil Delight behind Whisper White. On the Whisper White, I stamped the Inspired by Nature flower image. I colored the stamp by using daubers. I was hoping for a softer look, but didn't really get it-guess I had a heavy hand :) It really almost looks like I used markers. Across the bottom I knotted a Concord Crush ribbon. Then I added the "HI THERE" from Fundamental Phrases with a flower accent (reinked the small flower and stamped it off once) on the Large Oval layered onto the Concord Crush Scallop Oval.

That's it!! Thanks for stopping by today. I'm off to bed, not early by any means (baseball again tonight), but I hope to sleep in tomorrow and catch up.

Man, where do the weeks go?? Time seems to zipping by me! The good news though is, Thursday means it's time for another ColorLab Challenge! Do stop over and play along with us this week! The colors of the week:

Not Quite Navy, Riding Hood Red,
& Early Espresso

I decided to go masculine. And I resisted the "urge" to grab Sail Away again. Instead, I grabbed the Countryside set and my Watercolor Crayons. The card base is Early Espresso with a background of Riding Hood Red. On that background I stamped the apple image randomly. Then I spritzed it with Early Espresso ink before texturing with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. The truck was stamped on Naturals White with Early Espresso ink. I added color from my watercolor crayons with a blender pen. Because I used my classic Early Espresso instead of Basic Black or Black Stazon, I need to be fairly careful when coloring or the Espresso will bleed. And, actually, I discovered when it did bleed, it just contributed to the antique look of the truck. Otherwise known as a happy accident :) The truck is Not Quite Navy, apples and sign are Riding Hood Red, baskets and grass are Early Espresso. I added a little spritz here too with Early Espresso before attaching to a Not Quite Navy later, adding an Early Espresso 1-1/4" Grosgrain ribbon to the side, and attaching to the background.

ColorLab42

Ready for another ColorLab Color Challenge? It proved to be the motivation I needed to get back to stampin' this week! Long week so far! Not sure why, other than more weird weather! We are lucky to have not been getting any of the severe weather that has hit other parts of the Midwest. Today though, feels much more like a Fall or early Spring day than a late May day. No sun, a cold North Wind and some rain.

Anyway, here are the colors for this week:

Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze &
 a Touch of Very Vanilla

And since these colors are somewhat masculine, I of course had to grab 'the boat' again! Hopefully you all aren't sick of it yet. I did do something very different with it this time!! The card base is Soft Suede with a Baja Breeze background that was stamped with the Wonderfully Worn background and textured with the Square Lattice folder. The Top Note was cut from Crumb Cake. I used an oval frame from the Bigz Die as a mask and sponged Very Vanilla Craft Ink onto it. I used a sponge dauber and went until fairly evenly all covered. I set it with the heat tool so I could get to stamping!! The boat was stamped with Soft Suede ink. I blended more Soft Suede on the boat, and added Crumb Cake accents to the sail. Then I masked the sails and boat and daubered Baja Breeze over. Lightly for the sky, darker for the sea. Gold brads accent the top 3 points on the Top Note and on the points of the Modern Label Punch saying element.

Thursday!! Welcome to another ColorLab challenge! We hope you'll play along with us this week!!

Here are the colors

BLUSHING BRIDE, CONCORD CRUSH, PEAR PIZZAZZ AND A TOUCH OF PERFECT PLUM

And, here is my creation

I'm kind of feeling many of my cards are looking the same lately. ?? Oh well, guess that would be my style. I used the Flower Fest set again this week, this time with the "star" flower and small rose. The card base is Concord Crush with a background layer of Pear Pizzazz behind the background of Whisper White. On the side is an accent of Blushing Bride done with the Scallop Ribbon punch. I stamped the background in Blushing Bride for the star flower, Concord Crush for the Rose, and small leaves in Pear Pizzazz. My touch of Perfect Plum is the center of the roses, applied with a sponge dauber. I sponged the edge with Blushing Bride and attached a ribbon strip around the base. I did a 'Mary Brown' bow using a Rhinestone brad and attached that over the ribbon. The brad is wrapped around the ribbon to secure it together. The saying is from Hope Happens and was done on Whisper White with Concord Crush and a Blushing Bride star flower. I punched that with the Decorative Label punch and layered it onto two more decorative label punches for a layered look.

Thursday!?! Again?? They sure do come around fast :) It's a CRAZY time of year here with end of school year activities, graduations, etc!! Hoping too that we get Spring for real here soon. It's been cold for far too long!! Anyway, to the point of the day: are you ready to play along at the ColorLab? Fun colors this week!!

Here is what I came up with!

Loving this new set-Flower Fest. Such quick and easy results!!! Card base is Rose Red with an accent layer of Not Quite Nay that had the bottom edge scalloped with the Eyelet Border punch. The background layer is Shimmery White on which I stamped the flowers and leaves in Rose Red, Not Quite Navy and Pear Pizzazz. My "touch" of Baja Breeze is the center of the Not Quite Navy flowers. The saying is from the new set Happy Greetings. Are you LOVING the Summer Mini!!???!! The saying was stamped in Not Quite Navy on Shimmery White with an accent Rose (stamped off once) in Rose Red. That was punched with the Wide Oval and layered onto a Rose Red Decorative Label. I did the scrunchy ribbon thing near the bottom using Sticky Strip and the Rose Red Seam Binding which is still available via the Carry Over list from the Occasions Mini catalog.

Thanks for stopping by today! Do stop by the ColorLab and play along! Make sure to upload your creation so we can see it!

For Julie

The ColorLab is on hiatus this week. Our Head Chemist, Julie, lost her Grandmother this week. The team agreed to take the week off to give Julie time to deal with all that she needs to. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family. Here is a card I made tonight for Julie and will be mailing tomorrow.

In the spirit of Color, I used my Color Coach to choose the colors. It took several times flipping through before something "spoke" to me. I really only have this set, Thoughts & Prayers for Sympathy cards. And I always seem to default to this same layout. So, I looked at colors that would work with this set and finally settled on these: Soft Suede, Riding Hood Red & So Saffron. Just seemed perfect for the tree image. Maybe more of a Fall then Spring feel, but that's OK.

I'm skipping the details and all the rest and just sending this card on to Julie. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family at this difficult time. Contact me if you'd like to send a card to Julie and I will get you her address.

Thank you all for understanding. We'll be back next week with our regularly schedule challenges.

It's Thursday again!! Got your lab coat for the ColorLab?? Look at these challenging colors this week!

I have used these together before, but it's not a combination that comes together naturally for me!! It took a little thought, but then my eyes settled on this fun, new stamp and I knew it would be perfect!!

Card base is Rich Razzleberry textured card stock. Hello Blossoms is the name of this fun stamp and it's in the Summer Mini. Sales for that start Sunday!! I inked the stamp with markers in the colors of the challenge, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Rich Razzleberry. I paper-pierced below the image using my handy dandy mat pack and paper-piercing tool. The 'friend' is from Fundamental Phrases and seemed the perfect fit. The main image is layered onto Old Olive with a strip of Pumpkin Pie scalloped edge at the bottom. The corner accent is an Old Olive Taffeta ribbon knotted on a clip from the Clips Assortment. Fairly Clean and Simple this week! It needed to be-my brain is on stamping overload!!

Thanks for stopping by! Do stop over at the ColorLab and play along! I'd love to see what you create with this combination!!

Make sure you stop back by here tomorrow. In addition to my regular Friday share, I'm taking part in the Stampin' Addicts Summer Mini Blog Hop and I'll be featuring Sail Away. You won't want to miss it!!

Happy Thursday all! And Happy Easter a few days early!! Time for another ColorLab challenge!

Pink Pirouette, So Saffron, Certainly Celery and a Touch of Baja Breeze

A perfect color combination for this week!! When I first looked at these colors, my thought was "Easter Eggs". and then I remembered this fun little egg in the Easter Blossoms set. PERFECT for emboss resist!! Here is my card.

Card base is So Saffron. The eggs were stamped with Versamark on Whisper White and embossed with Clear Powder. I then sponged color over them. Remember to grab a tissue and rub off any color from the embossing. Behind the Whisper White layer I attached some Pink Pirouette strips punched with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch. While my corners are not perfect, I love the effect of the small scallop edge. The Certainly Celery Satin ribbon was knotted around the center (before the punched ribbon strips). The Happy Easter was embossed with Clear powder the same as the eggs. I sponged So Saffron over it, punched it with the Wide Oval, and layered it onto a Pink Pirouette Decorative Label. The whole elements is attached over the ribbon with dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you'll stop over by the ColorLab and play along with us this week!!

Thursday!! And look at these GREAT colors Julie gave us today!! Bring on Spring!!! Make sure you come by the ColorLab and play along with us! Check out what the other girls did too-I'm sure you will be wowed!!

ROSE RED, REGAL ROSE,  &
ALWAYS ARTICHOKE

Thanks to my downline Sharon, I finally got this set together AND used it!! Thanks friend!! I decided to go with a square card for this flower. Folded it is 5-1/4" square to fit our 5-1/2" envelopes. The card base is Rose Red with a Regal Rose layer behind the background Very Vanilla. I textured the Vanilla with the Perfect Details Texturz Plate. The biggest petal of the flower was stamped 8 times on Very Vanilla and punched with the coordinating punch. I used a small circle in the center to help align the petals. I still need a little practice at that :) Next, I did the narrow petals in Regal Rose and punched. Through the center is a Very Vanilla 5/8" Jumbo Brad. The flower is attached with dimensionals. I find I like one on each side of the brad, and near the edge of the four lowest petals. The petals were also curled lightly around the Paper-Piercing Tool. The leaves are Always Artichoke and attached to the card base under the petals. The saying is from a new set from the upcoming Summer Mini, Happy Greetings.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you'll stop over at the ColorLab and play along with us this week!
