Square Flower Burst

I had a creative inspiration tonight and came up with a really fun card!! I was browsing challenges for the week, looking for inspiration and decided to combine the Clean & Simple sketch with the Create with Connie & Mary color challenge of the week. I love purple of any hue and couldn't resit the excuse to play with Perfect Plum!! :)

Here is the sketch

and the color challenge

and here is what I came up with:

I went with a square card to match the sketch. Card base is Perfect Plum with a Shimmery White layer. Another Perfect Plum layer accents the main image layer. The card features two stamp sets from the Summer which starts May 1!! :) The saying is from the Happy Greetings set, the flowers from Flower Fest. I love this flower set-it coordinates with several of our punches. Colors, per the challenge, are Perfect Plum, So Saffron and Wild Wasabi.  I sponged just a little Perfect Plum on a couple of the flowers. All of the flowers were stamped and either punched or cut out and attached with dimensionals. The stems or leaves were stamped with Wild Wasabi on the focal Shimmery White Layer.

Stampin' Addicts Summer Mini Blog Hop

Welcome All to the Stampin' Addicts Summer Mini Blog Hop!! We're so glad you're here!! You've probably just come from Sarah's Ink Spot. Didn't she do a great job with Pretty Postage?!?

I am featuring the single stamp, Sail Away. It may be single but it has lots of potential! Let me give you a few ideas!! I am going to be brief with details here, but come back Monday and Tuesday of next week and I will elaborate. I used a couple different techniques on the boat so we'd have a little variety!! All SU! catalog products I used are listed below the Previous & Next links. Remember too, you can click each sample to make it larger to view details better!

First up is a Watercolored Boat. I used Watercolor Crayons on Watercolor Paper with a Blender Pen. Colors are Soft Suede, Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy & Cherry Cobbler. The Baja background was textured with the "diamond" Texturz plate then spritzed with Log Cabin Smooch Spritz. Accents are Build a Brad, Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine, Postage Stamp Punch, 'thanks' from Pretty Postage.

Next up is this Hello card. I used Polished Stone on this one. Colors for that were Bashful Blue, Marina Mist and Night of Navy with Platinum Shimmer Paint. The background print is from the Nautical Expedition DSP pack. Accents are Wide Navy Striped Ribbon, Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine, 'Hello Hello Hello from Happy Greetings, & Silver Brads.

This one took a few tries to get right, but I love it now! The first colors I tried just weren't right. The technique here on the boat is Acetate and Tissue. Reinkers are used with Crystal Effects then tissue applied. Colors are Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White & Crumb Cake. I wheeled the Classic Stars in Baja across the First Edition DSP. BTW, First Edition DSP will still be available after May 1. Accents, Mini Library Clip with Linen Thread, Star Punch, 'Congrats' from Happy Greetings.

And finally, a 3D item. I thought the boat would be the perfect fit for the Fancy Favor box and it is. This boat was just spritzed with Baja Breeze and Not Quite Navy markers.. I did mask the sails and boat where I didn't want color. I didn't have room to attach the saying, so I put in a Jumbo Eyelet and tied it there. Now, if only I had some candy to put in it!! Nothing to be found in my house :(

Thanks for stopping by everyone! I hope you'll return soon! Remember, details next week and all items used are listed below the links. Continue on the Hop to Heidi at RunningwScissors or the NEXT below to see what she came up with using Travel Log. You won't be sorry!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 042911

Happy Friday all! Looks to finally be a NICE Spring day around here! We are past due for Spring this year!! Friday means another Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch and mini tour.

Here is the card I created

based on this sketch by Ros Davidson.

My card base is Rose Red with a background layer of So Saffron. Colors by the ColorCoach. I stamped the floral image from Elements of Style on a piece of Naturals Ivory. I colored and blended using my Blender Pen with my Watercolor Wonder Crayons in Rose Red, So Saffron & Wild Wasabi. After coloring, I cut the image into 4 panels and  mounted on the background layer. At the bottom, I knotted a piece of Victoria Crochet trim and attached an Antique Brad over the knot. I couldn't work in a saying, so I didn't add one. Nothing I tried looked right. That's OK-the whole inside of the card is blank :)

ColorLab39

It's Thursday again!! Got your lab coat for the ColorLab?? Look at these challenging colors this week!

I have used these together before, but it's not a combination that comes together naturally for me!! It took a little thought, but then my eyes settled on this fun, new stamp and I knew it would be perfect!!

Card base is Rich Razzleberry textured card stock. Hello Blossoms is the name of this fun stamp and it's in the Summer Mini. Sales for that start Sunday!! I inked the stamp with markers in the colors of the challenge, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Rich Razzleberry. I paper-pierced below the image using my handy dandy mat pack and paper-piercing tool. The 'friend' is from Fundamental Phrases and seemed the perfect fit. The main image is layered onto Old Olive with a strip of Pumpkin Pie scalloped edge at the bottom. The corner accent is an Old Olive Taffeta ribbon knotted on a clip from the Clips Assortment. Fairly Clean and Simple this week! It needed to be-my brain is on stamping overload!!

Thanks for stopping by! Do stop over at the ColorLab and play along! I'd love to see what you create with this combination!!

Make sure you stop back by here tomorrow. In addition to my regular Friday share, I'm taking part in the Stampin' Addicts Summer Mini Blog Hop and I'll be featuring Sail Away. You won't want to miss it!!

Sail Away Father's Day

Hello all! Here is a recent swap creation. And, it's a sneak peek of a stamp I'll be using this upcoming weekend-April 29-May 2 for a Stampin' Addicts Summer Mini Blog Hop! Make sure you stop back!! 20+ different blogs each featuring something NEW from the Summer Mini!!

The Card base is Early Espresso with a background layer of Baja Breeze. On that Baja Breeze, I stamped the Wonderfully Worn background stamp in Not Quite Navy, flipped it (top to bottom) and stamped it again without reinking. Then I textured it in the Big Shot with the Square Lattice embossing folder. The tag, from the Two Tags die, was cut from Crumb Cake card stock. I sponged the edge with Early Espresso and stamped 'Happy Father's Day' at the bottom in Early Espresso. The boat was stamped in Early Espresso on Naturals White card stock. I used a blender pen and Crumb Cake Classic ink to add colors to the sail. I used my Not Quite Navy marker to accent the "waves". I added just a touch of Cherry Cobbler with my marker to the flag. The sky and upper edges were sponged with Baja Breeze, the water and bottom edge with Not Quite Navy. The boat is layered on a Not Quite Navy piece, then attached to the tag. At the top I knotted through two small pieces of the new Early Espresso/White Bakers Twine before attaching the tag to the background.

Thanks for stopping by! Make a note of the Blog Hop and come back by this weekend-you won't be sorry!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 042211

Happy Friday all! And Happy Easter as well! Friday means another Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge!!  Do stop over and play along with us!! This is a great sketch with LOTS of potential!!

Here is my card

based on this sketch by Robbie Rubala

Perfect timing for me as my Fun Flowers Bigz Die arrived today! Awesome!! Card base is Poppy Parade with a Daffodil Delight layer behind the Daffodil print from the Sunny Garden DSP pack. I attached a Poppy Parade ribbon across the bottom and stamped "Hope Happens" from the Hope Happens set just above it. I used the die and cut the flower using a Poppy Print from the Sunny Garden DSP. I then ran a Daffodil Delight card stock piece through with the medium flower-it needed that contrast!! The top corner of the card was covered with the same DSP print as the flower. I folded it behind and attached as part of the layer. The flower layers were curled slightly over the Paper Piercer, and then attached all together with a Whisper White jumbo brad. To that brad I attached the small scallop circle that cuts with the Fun Flowers die. The flower element is attached to the card with dimensionals.

You may have guessed I have the same friend in mind from last week-she's having surgery today and I hope to get this in the mail to her soon!!

ColorLab38

Happy Thursday all! And Happy Easter a few days early!! Time for another ColorLab challenge!

Pink Pirouette, So Saffron, Certainly Celery and a Touch of Baja Breeze

A perfect color combination for this week!! When I first looked at these colors, my thought was "Easter Eggs". and then I remembered this fun little egg in the Easter Blossoms set. PERFECT for emboss resist!! Here is my card.

Card base is So Saffron. The eggs were stamped with Versamark on Whisper White and embossed with Clear Powder. I then sponged color over them. Remember to grab a tissue and rub off any color from the embossing. Behind the Whisper White layer I attached some Pink Pirouette strips punched with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch. While my corners are not perfect, I love the effect of the small scallop edge. The Certainly Celery Satin ribbon was knotted around the center (before the punched ribbon strips). The Happy Easter was embossed with Clear powder the same as the eggs. I sponged So Saffron over it, punched it with the Wide Oval, and layered it onto a Pink Pirouette Decorative Label. The whole elements is attached over the ribbon with dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you'll stop over by the ColorLab and play along with us this week!!

Balloon Birthday

Finally, the last card Sharon had for us at club! Isn't this fun!! This is an idea I hadn't seen before and I love it!!

The card base is Elegant Eggplant with a Not Quite Navy layer that was embossed with the Framed Tulips folder. Inset in that is another Elegant Eggplant layer under a Whisper White layer. On the Whisper White we made clouds. How fun!! We punched the cupcake top using the Build a Cupcake Punch. We put it down and sponged around it with Baja Breeze ink. We stamped the basket of the balloon, from the Sweet Centers set, in Not Quite Navy. This is one of the sets designed to use with the Sweet Treat Cups. This is a fun, easy way to use the set without those though! For the balloon, we punched 4 circles from Rose Red DSP, folded them in half, and put them together side by side, like you've seen me do before with the Ornament Punch. The very left and very right sides of the balloon are attached to the cloud background. We used the Happy Birthday again for the greeting on the Word Window and Modern Label punches. Fun Fun!!

Birthday Flowers

Back to cards by Sharon!! Sorry to be so long getting back to these! I've worked a few extra days lately, at an office almost an hour away so I haven't had a much time to get posts done in addition to all the other things I have to do!!

Here is card three that Sharon had for us last weekend at club.

The card base is Regal Rose with a background of Whisper White that was embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots folder in the Big Shot. Sharon gave her Big Shot quite the work out getting ready for us!! In the center is a DSP square that we scored and folded to frame the flowers. We put dimensionals under the folds to give the frame dimension! We stamped the flower image of our choice from A Flower for All Seasons in Basic Black. I chose the basket of tulips. We colored them with the Watercolor Pencils. At the bottom is the Happy Birthday again from Create a Cupcake on the Word Window Punch, layered onto the Modern Label Punch and attached with dimensionals.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 041511

Happy Friday all!! I'm ready for the weekend, but probably will not find much rest in it! My choices will be yard work or cleaning, depending on what the weather does!! Sounded tonight like we had quite a bit of rain, so the decision may already be made.

Ready for another Sketch Frenzy Friday?? We hope you'll stop over and play along!! Here is my card of the week

based on this sketch by Tammy Baldwin.

My card base is Melon Mambo with a Daffodil Delight layer behind Whisper White. The Whisper White was stamped with flowers from the new set (in the upcoming Summer Mini)  Flower Fest. This set is designed to go with some of our existing punches (YEAH!!!). Colors are Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight & Wild Wasabi. Center elements are the Wild Wasabi square diagonally behind a Melon Mambo and Whisper White layer. The Daffodil Delight flower as the main image was stamped on Whisper White, then punched with the Fancy Flower punch and attached with dimensionals. Daffodil Delight Pompom Trim is attached below the flower element, and the saying at the bottom. Praying for you is from Thoughts and Prayers.

Sadly, this is a card I'll be mailing to a good friend today who just found out she has cancer. So sad for her, yet knowing she's a fighter and will give it her all as she begins treatment soon.

ColorLab37

Thursday!! And look at these GREAT colors Julie gave us today!! Bring on Spring!!! Make sure you come by the ColorLab and play along with us! Check out what the other girls did too-I'm sure you will be wowed!!

ROSE RED, REGAL ROSE,  &
ALWAYS ARTICHOKE

Thanks to my downline Sharon, I finally got this set together AND used it!! Thanks friend!! I decided to go with a square card for this flower. Folded it is 5-1/4" square to fit our 5-1/2" envelopes. The card base is Rose Red with a Regal Rose layer behind the background Very Vanilla. I textured the Vanilla with the Perfect Details Texturz Plate. The biggest petal of the flower was stamped 8 times on Very Vanilla and punched with the coordinating punch. I used a small circle in the center to help align the petals. I still need a little practice at that :) Next, I did the narrow petals in Regal Rose and punched. Through the center is a Very Vanilla 5/8" Jumbo Brad. The flower is attached with dimensionals. I find I like one on each side of the brad, and near the edge of the four lowest petals. The petals were also curled lightly around the Paper-Piercing Tool. The leaves are Always Artichoke and attached to the card base under the petals. The saying is from a new set from the upcoming Summer Mini, Happy Greetings.

Concord Blossom

Hey all! Ready for another Sharon card?? I love this one and she has me wondering-why is my set not even mounted and ready to use???

Build a Blossom is in the Occasions Mini and has a coordinating punch. Don't miss owning them!!

The card base here is Concord Crush-probably another reason I love this card. Purple :) The Framed Tulips Embossing Folder was used again on the background (it's actually a separate layer of Concord Crush on the base Concord Crush). Inset in the frame is a Whisper White layer that was textured with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. The petals were stamped on Whisper White in Concord Crush and punched with the coordinating punch. We used a small circle for the center to help with placement (3/4" I think). I did eight leaves, and layered 4 to the back and 4 to the front. In the center is an Antique Brad. Before attaching the flower to the card, I cured the petals slightly over the Paper Piercer. The flower is then attached with dimensionals. 3 Petals of Pear Pizzazz were added under the flower. The Happy Birthday is from the Create a Cupcake set and is the perfect size for the Word Window Punch. That is layered on the Modern Label and attached with dimensionals. Beautiful!!!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you find some stamping time today!!

Springtime Smiles!

Happy Monday all! Is there such a thing?!?!? I'm having one of those getting nothing done kind of days! I meant to get this up this morning! Oops.

My Club group met on Sunday and my downline Sharon did the demonstrating this time. She did AWESOME!!! Here is her first card using the Easter Blossoms set from the Occasions Mini. Get it NOW if you don't have it!! Time is running out!

The card base is Very Vanilla with a Not Quite Navy Framed Tulip embossed layer. Inset in the frame is another Very Vanilla and then Baja Breeze. On the Baja we stamped the small floral element in Baja Breeze randomly. Under the saying is a piece of Victoria Crochet Trim attached between the layers. We punched the corners of the Baja with the Ticket Corner punch and added a medium pearl. The saying was stamped in Not Quite Navy on Very Vanilla and punched with the Large Oval. We sponged the oval with Baja Breeze and layered in onto a Scallop Oval of Not Quite Navy. The ovals are attached over the ribbon with dimensionals. The girl was stamped on Very Vanilla in Baja Breeze and punched with the 2-3/8" Scallop Circle. We sponged the edge again with Baja Breeze and layered on the 2-1/2" Circle of Not Quite Navy. She is attached with dimensionals as well. Beautiful!!!

Thanks for stopping by! If you love this card, leave me a comment and I'll be forwarding them on to Sharon!! Wait until you see the others too! Check back over the next few days-there are 3 more coming!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 040811

Happy Friday all! I'm excited for the weekend! I had a major commitment get cancelled, so I have Saturday free! I see yard work in my future!! Things are coming to life and need to get my landscape cleaned up!!

As you know, Friday means another sketch to try over at Sketch Frenzy Friday! I'm obviously in the mood for flowers! Here is my card

based on this sketch by Melinda Couden.

My card base is Poppy Parade with a background layer of Poppy Parade DSP. For the strips on the sketch, I added some Daffodil Delight DSP. Both prints are from the Sunny Garden pack. Next I grabbed a piece of Watercolor paper and stamped the flowers and butterfly from Every Moment in Black Stazon. I colored with my markers in Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade and Old Olive. I don't usually use markers because they are so bright, but in this case I love it! I think the watercolor paper makes a difference too. I do see my "lines" like I do on card stock. The watercolor paper is layered on Daffodil Delight. My final accents are two more butterflies punched with the 3/4" punch, layered onto 1" Poppy Parade circles and attached with dimensionals on the top and bottom strip. The center strip has a Daffodil Delight button. I almost didn't add a saying at all, but then saw this little "for you" sitting by by desk from the All Holidays set and it seemed the perfect fit.

ColorLab36

It's Thursday, got your Lab Coat?? Head on over the the ColorLab and play along with us this week! Here are the colors:

Poppy Parade, Early Espresso & Crumb Cake

And here is my card! I decided to go a little different way today!!

It seemed too easy to do something flowery with Poppy Parade as the primary color, so I decided to go masculine. I looked at Plane & Simple, them remembered I had this new stamp, Extreme Guitar. Thank you SAB! Note to self: order the Extreme Elements to go with it!! I had to "make do" for the background because I couldn't come up with any elements that didn't look super feminine!

Ok, from the top! The card base is Early Espresso with a Poppy Parade layer behind Crumb Cake. On the Crumb Cake, I first pulled out my Oval craft frame and used the center to make a mask. I placed that in the center of the card to keep it clean. Then I grabbed my Wonderfully Worn background and inked it first in Crumb Cake. I stamped it twice, flipping top to bottom in between. Then I inked it with Early Espresso and stamped it across the center. I filled in the edges on both end. Next I grabbed the Color Spritzer and the Poppy Parade marker and spritzed away!! Now, remove the mask and grab the Square Lattice folder. Put your card stock in the folder. Place the folder over the Craft frame so that the "clean" oval matches up with the oval on the frame. Run through the Big Shot. The edges of the Crumb Cake are sponged with Early Espresso.

I stamped the Guitarist image in Poppy Parade and the "unique" definition from Define Your Life in Early Espresso. Seems like this would be a great encouragement card for teenagers??

Thanks for stopping by today!! Do stop over at the ColorLab to see what the other girls came up with and play along while you're there!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 040111

Happy Friday all, and best of luck with April Fools Day tomorrow. I've already heard of one great prank being played on a boss by employees. Just hope at my office tomorrow, all is as usual!!

Friday means another Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge! My brainpower was quite low tonight, when I finally got around to making my card. I really need to do them earlier in the week when I'm supposed to!! Anyway, here is my card

based on this sketch brought to us by Kim Innis. We do hope you'll stop over this week and play along!!

This card features a new set from the upcoming catalog called Four Frames. It can be yours today with a purchase of just $20 from the catalog! View the details online HERE.

Back to the card! I decided this little bird element looked like it should go with the Botanical Gazette DSP in the Occasions Mini. Well, it didn't go together quite as easily as I had hoped, but I finally got something I can live with! Card base is Cherry Cobbler. Background is the birdcage print from the Botanical Gazette DSP. Along the left edge is another DSP print with the ruler on the edge, layered onto Not Quite Navy. I tried several pieces of DSP here before the ruler caught my eye. The Bird label was stamped in Not Quite Navy on Very Vanilla. I then added the words from Fundamental Phrases in Cherry Cobbler before punching out. I layered the Bird label onto two punched from Cherry Cobbler. Lastly, a Crumb Cake button with Linen Thread accents the corner.
