Happiness Watercolor

My friends over at Hand Stamped Sentiments have a Watercolor challenge this week.   That gave me the motivation to mount my Happiness Shared set and create this card using my Watercolor Crayons.

Card base is Old Olive with a very narrow layer of So Saffron and a background of Regal Rose that was textured with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.  I stamped on a Naturals Ivory Top Note with Black Stazon, in the center first with the rose image.  I masked that and added two more roses, one on each side.  I colored all the roses with my crayons in Regal Rose, So Saffron & Old Olive using a blender pen.  I did one extra rose on a small scrap of Naturals Ivory, coloring just the rose and cut that out.  I layered that over the central rose, cutting the petal lines and curling the edges just a bit before attaching with a dimensional.  I punched on each side of the top note with my Crop-a-Dile making a slot for the ribbon to go through.  I tied the Satin Very Vanilla ribbon in a knot at the side.  The saying was stamped below the roses also with Black Stazon.

Thanks for stopping by!!  Hope to see you here again soon!

Lots of Purple!!

Well, to be exact, Concord Crush!  Found a challenge tonight that inspired some creativity!  I've been struggling since I got home.  Haven't done much of anything all week!  The artists though at Pals Paper Arts have a monochromatic color challenge this week, specifically purple!  LOVE purple!!!  So I had to give it a shot!  Not the best card ever, but a step back onto the creative path.

Card base is Concord Crush.  The background is DSP, in Concord Crush, that I ran through the Big Shot in the Elegant Lines embossing folder and then sanded with a sanding block to reveal the white core.  A Concord Stitched-Poly ribbon is tied around the bottom, and the saying 'because I care' from the Level 1 Hostess set of the same name.  I added a few Clear Rhinestone brads to the embossed image because it needed a little something else, and nothing else seemed right.  Enjoy, and hopefully I'll have some better creativity flowing tomorrow!

ColorLab3

That time again!! Thursday means the weekly color challenge at the Color Lab!!  Won't you play along this week??  I'm loving these challenges.  And this one, was a challenge!  Partly because I just haven't really been in the mood to stamp since getting home, and it's also more colors than I usually end up working with!!  But I do like them all together!  Here is the inspiration:

And here is what I came up with!  This is one of the sets I received at SU! Convention last week, Just Believe.  Didn't do my Make-N-Takes there, and haven't touched them yet at home either, but knew I would love this image with this die!  And, I do!!

Card base is Pumpkin Pie.  Background layer is Crumb Cake.  I stamped the image in Baja Breeze several times and then spritzed over it with Not Quite Navy, Crumb Cake & Pumpkin Pie.  The edge was sponged with Pumpkin Pie.  Not as much of it shows as I thought (& hoped-I liked it!)!!   I used my Frame, Oval Scallop die in the Big Shot and cut twice:  once from Night of Navy and once from Crumb Cake.  I ran the outside scallop oval through a second time in the Square Lattice Die.  For the main image, on the center scallop, I first inked all the leaf and stem parts of the image with my Baja Breeze marker.  I then came in with the Not Quite Navy marker and hit the bigger leaves.  The flowers I inked with Pumpkin Pie.  I took my Night of Navy marker and thumped it onto the leaves and stem areas making sure not to hit the flowers.  Gives it a very blended look!

Lastly, I stamped the foliage/box image in Pumpkin Pie on Crumb Cake, added the friends in Not Quite Navy (using the Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement) and cut it out. The ovals are attached with dimensionals, and the friends was attached to the bottom of the ovals with just Snail adhesive.

Thanks for stopping by!!  Hope that you'll choose to play along!  Find Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post :)

ColorLab2

It's that time again, are you ready to play along? Here is the challenge for the Second Color Lab Challenge!

Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Regal Rose, Old Olive

Here is my creation! Maybe not the best ever, but it was really late! I remembered this at midnight Monday, well Tuesday morning I guess, when I was finishing up my swaps for convention. I left home Tuesday at 7:30!! YIKES!! The good news is I remembered and I got a few hours sleep!!!

Card base is Tempting Turquoise. Background is Naturals Ivory that I textured in the Big Shot, adding the thin wooden craft frame to the sandwich to leave the center untextured. I then used a mask with just the oval cut out to stamp the flowers from Inspired by Nature. I inked them using sponge daubers. The center of each flower is Tempting Turquoise, the large flower petals are Melon Mambo, the small are Regal Rose, and the stems are Old Olive. I sponged the edge with Tempting Turquoise, and put a little Regal Rose on the textured lines for accent. An Old Olive grosgrain ribbon is tied around the bottom. The saying was stamped in Melon Mambo, punched with the Wide Oval. I used my Mat Pack guide & Paper Piercer to add a line below the passion. I sponged the edges with Tempting Turquoise ink and added the oval with dimensionals.

Won't you click over the blog and play along??

4th Card-Marble Flower Fancy

Finally, the 4th card from the weekend Open Houses! Long week so far, and convention technically hasn't started yet! We're having fun, staying busy, eating good food and walking lots!!

Ok, back to the card!

Card base is Marina Mist. The background was done with the Rolling Marble technique. Please visit THIS POST for instructions if needed. Colors in the background are Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight & Old Olive on Whisper White. Remember to do each color separately!!! The flower from Flower Fancy is the main image. I stamped the solid image of the flower in Daffodil Delight in the center of the smaller Whisper White and then added the Marina Mist outline image. For the leaves, I used Old Olive for both the solid and outline, just stamp the solid off once before stamping onto your cardstock. The new 1/8" Taffeta in Marina Mist is tied around the card in a know, and a small piece of the same Taffeta in Daffodil Delight is knotted around the knot. The saying is from the Level 3 Hostess set, Occasional Quotes. It was stamped in Old Olive, punched with the Designer Label punch. For accent we added a 1-3/8" Daffodil Delight circle behind. Oh, and the edges of all the Whisper White pieces were sponged with Marina Mist.

I hope to get some convention pictures posted, but it's not going to be tonight, and tomorrow is an early start and a full day. We'll see what the next few days bring!! Thanks all for stopping by!!

3rd Card-In Wilderness

Here is the 3rd card from the weekend! Loved this buffalo, and it makes a great masculine card! I used the saying from the set, but you could use a birthday or other saying just as nicely!

Does this remind you of the truck card I posted last week? Same layout & technique!! Card base here is the new Early Espresso. You can't see it here (?maybe if you click and enlarge the picture??) but the background was stamped with Early Espresso ink and the Wonderfully Worn background stamp. The buffalo, from the In Wilderness set, was stamped in the center of a Naturals Ivory Top Note and then masked. We used the Spritzer tool and Not Quite Navy & Garden Green markers to splatter ink around the buffalo. Not Quite Navy ink is sponged on both the edge of the Top Note and on the saying scallop. The saying was stamped in Not Quite Navy and punched with the Scallop Oval punch. The Garden Green oval was cut with the Movers & Shapers Punch Window oval in the Big Shot. Metallic Brads are the final accent at the top three points.

Made it to Salt Lake City today! Resting tonight. Tomorrow is check in, pick up our bags and start looking at the displays! Thanks for stopping by!!

2nd Card-For You Flower

Inspired by the sample in the catalog (page 19), here is the second card from the Open Houses this past weekend.

It also features the new In Colors. Card base is Pear Pizzazz, stamped with the new background Pretty Patterns in Pear Pizzazz. Background is the Concord Crush stripe DSP layered on Concord Crush. I used both the stripe & dots and both look great! For the flower, we inked it first in Peach Parfait, stamped on Whisper White and punched with the Fancy Flower punch. We cleaned the stamp, and inked just the center with the markers: mostly in Pear Pizzazz, but one For You is Concord Crush. Punch that with the 1-1/4 circle punch, sponge with Peach Parfait ink, and attach with a dimensional. The new In Color Ribbon in Pear Pizzazz is tied around the Concord Crush layers and the flower is attached over, with dimensionals on the top. The bottom sits right on the ribbon. Simple and sweet!

I hope to have a few of these to trade at convention this week. Better go get myself together and ready to fly tomorrow! YIKES!!

First Open House Sample-Contempo Christmas!

Christmas in July! It's never too early to start thinking about those cards!!! I never do, but hopefully I inspired someone too! I do love this color combo though-and this card goes together so quick!!!

Card base is the new Cherry Cobbler. Yum!! Paired with Old Olive and Very Vanilla. The Jolly Holiday DSP pack has those colors as well, so I chose one of the striped prints for the background strip, and layered it on Very Vanilla to accent the stripe. The stamp set used here is Contempo Christmas. The Merry Christmas was stamped with Cherry Cobbler and punched with the Wide Oval punch. I used the Mat Pack punch guide to pierce a line of small holes under the Christmas. The other two ovals were cut in Very Vanilla & Old Olive with the Big Shot using the "ovals" die. The tree is stamped with Old Olive. Our new Jewels, specifically the Basic Pearls were used for accent. A teeny tiny one on the star on the tree, and three medium ones just under the punched ribbon accent. I used the piercing template in the Mat Pack to space the 3 pearls, most of my attendees just winged it!! Almost forgot to mention that new punch!! The new Ribbon border punch was used with a strip of Cherry Cobbler for the accent under the tree, across the striped paper. It is so easy to use!!!

Thanks for stopping by!! And special thanks to all to came to Open Houses this weekend! It was a grand time. Extra special thanks to my helpers!!! I couldn't do this without their help!!

Items used on this project: 119247 Basic Pearls * 114525 Ovals Die * 117159 Jolly Holiday DSP * 119275 Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border * 119855 2"x1-3/8" Oval XL punch * 120594 Clear Contempo Christmas (118734 Wood) * 105826 Mat Pack * 102277 Old Olive Classic Pad * 100702 Old Olive CS * 119669 Cherry Cobbler Classic Pad * 119685 Cherry Cobbler CS * 101650 Very Vanilla CS * 104430 Stampin' Dimensionals

Countryside

Loved this new set so had to have it on my first order! Always looking for new things for masculine cards! This is my swap creation for the month.

Loving finding new color combos too! This card layout was cased from one of my Open House creations for this weekend, you'll see that next week. I think I've used this layout before with the Top Note. Card base is Riding Hood Red stamped in Riding Hood Red with the new Wonderfully Worn background. Top Note was cut from Naturals White cardstock. I stamped the truck in Not Quite Navy, created a mask, then used the Ink Spritzer tool to spritz Garden Green, Riding Hood Red, & Crumb Cake ink around it. Gold brads were added at the points. The saying is from On Your Birthday and is in Riding Hood Red on Crumb Cake. Scallop Oval is Garden green.

Thanks for stopping by!!

First ColorLab Challenge!

Here it is, are you ready to play?

Pear Pizzazz, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip & Very Vanilla

Here is my creation!

Card base is Chocolate Chip, background has a Pear Pizzazz layer under DSP layers of both Baja Breeze & Pear Pizzazz. The DSP is from the Greenhouse Gala package. I stamped the flower from Flower Fancy with the solid image Baja Breeze, outlined with Chocolate Chip. Leave in Pear Pizzazz. The new In Color Ribbon-1/2" Stitched-Poly is tied around where the layers meet. The saying is from the new word set, Word Play. Stamped in Chocolate Chip on Very Vanilla, punched with the Wide Oval punch. I lightly stamped the smaller flower from this set in Baja Breeze. And did you notice-BLING!! Lovin' these little rhinestones! (page 188, top left under Jewels!) I accented the dots in the center of the flower with them.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll play along!!

Charming Potpourri

OK, that title might be a little weird? but it's the combination of the two sets I used tonight! I also combined two challenges-Pals Paper Arts color challenge & the sketch at Clean & Simple. The colors are Chocolate Chip, Basic Gray & So Saffron. Not colors I would have EVER put together! Guess that is why they call it a challenge!!

Here is what I came up with!!

The new hostess set, Punch Potpourri was begging to be used, so I combined it with the Charming set. Card base is Chocolate Chip, background layer is So Saffron textured with the Square Lattice folder. The Very Vanilla rectangles were stamped with the script image from Charming, then the flowers from Punch Potpourri were attached with dimensionals. The "create" was stamped with So Saffron, punched with the small oval punch and layered on the Modern Label punch. I added 2 metallic brads on each end and attached to the Basic Gray strip with dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by all! As of today, baseball season is over in this household! But that doesn't mean we won't be busy!! I have Open Houses next weekend, then off to SU! convention. And the start of school is just about a month away! Wow, does time ever fly!!!

SSC159 Friend

Took a break tonight from Open House planning (never mind that I've just barely gotten started-LOL!) to play along with the Stamping 411 sketch of the week. When I saw the sketch, I thought DSP for the layers and I had a few new packages to choose from! Here is the sketch:

and here is what I came up with:

I settled on the Love Letter DSP which features the colors Basic Black, Riding Hood Red & Very Vanilla. The card base is Basic Black, followed by two layers of DSP, large dots in Riding Hood Red, small dots in Basic Black. The center layers is just Riding Hood Red cardstock that I put through the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. I layered the backgrounds together and then had trouble finding a stamp that seemed to work! I settled on the butterfly from Flores Suaves (in the Spanish catalog). It was stamped in Black Stazon and colored with a blender pen and Riding Hood Red ink. Not the worlds best watercoloring! A knotted bow of Basic Black 1/8" Taffeta and the "friend to friend" saying from Teeny Tiny Wishes finishes the card.

That's it for me today-off to hopefully get a good nights rest! Lots of things that need to get done this weekend, and we have baseball tournament games. At least the games are close! Good Luck Crete Pony teams!!

Happy 4th!!

Happy 4th of July all! We've got a rainy one, which I don't ever remember happening! Hoping it will stop long enough for some fireworks this evening!!

Here is a card I created for the ColorQ challenge this week, I've been wanting to do one with stars, and these colors were perfect for the 4th of July!!

I did substitute the new Marina Mist for the retired Brocade Blue, but here is what I came up with.

Card base is Night of Navy, small layer of Real Red, background Whisper White textured with the Square Lattice folder. Stars punched from all 4 colors and Rhinestone brads added for bling. The saying is from a very old, retired set, More Great Greetings. I couldn't find any current sets in my possession that had a 4th of July saying!!

Enjoy all, and please have a SAFE holiday!!

SSC158 Fast & Fabulous

The creativity is rockin' tonight!! Too bad I have to "shut it down" and clean tomorrow. Ick! But, it's a necessary evil in life! I always feel better when it's done!! Here is a creation for the Stamping 411 sketch of the week, using more new colors!!! I thought I was going to like Cherry Cobbler and I do!! Love this combo from the new Color Coach-Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight & Cherry Cobbler. First, here is the sketch:

And here is what I did with it, in a matter of minutes too!

Card base is Early Espresso. Like it, darker than Chocolate Chip, but definitely a color I can learn to love!! Background is Cherry Cobbler textured with the new Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder. Ovals for the main image were cut with the Ovals Big Shot die. Image is from Fast & Fabulous, a Level 2 Hostess set. It's been a very long time since I've used a hostess set this much-usually mine just collect dust or wait in the door prize pile! Really like this one. I stamped the outline image in Early Espresso, then filled it alternating Cherry Cobbler & Daffodil Delight. Saying from Sincere Salutations. 1/8" Daffodil Delight taffeta ribbon is the final accent.

That's it for tonight, hope to be back soon!!! Happy July 4th in case I don't make it back until after that!!

Daisy Burst Birthday

Tonight I combined a couple challenges into one card to send to a friend who's birthday is today. Oops, a little late! I started out thinking stars for the 4th of July, but settled on the Daisy die to imitate fireworks bursting in air! The challenges I'm playing along with are Pals Paper Arts and Always Playing with Paper.

The result is this easel card. I've wanted to do another one since I did them with the Club girls last month and this was the perfect opportunity! Card base is Crumb Cake (formerly Kraft). The Bursts (daisies) were cut in Daffodil Delight, Real Red & Pacific Point. I layered them together, put a Rhinestone Brad in the center and attached them with a dimensional. For the layer inside I cut a Pacific Point layer and edged the top with the Scallop Trim Border punch, added two small bursts to the side and stamped the Live, Laugh & Love saying in Pacific Point.

Simple Friendship FTL96

A Clean and Simple challenge to get me back in the stamping groove! Here is FTL 96 from Clean & Simple

and here is what I did with it! More new colors, and a new to me set, Simple Friendship.

Card base is Marina Mist. I stamped the 'true friend' and saying at the center bottom with Marina Mist. The background was done with the swirl image and Marina Mist ink. The flowers were stamped in Marina Mist & Daffodil Delight randomly on Whisper White. I knotted both a Marina Mist and Daffodil Delight 1/8" Taffeta ribbon and attached around the Whisper White before adding to a Daffodil Delight layer. The butterfly was stamped with Marina Mist on Whisper White and then embossed by covering it completely with Iridescent Ice EP and heating. It was attached with dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by!!
