Bells & Boughs

Not exactly the relaxing stamping I was after tonight, but that's OK, I did create something!! And I mounted a new set and used it!! Here is what I did for the Pals Paper Arts Sketch of the week:

The set is Bells & Boughs from the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog. Card base is Soft Suede, with a tight background layer of Crumb Cake behind 2 pieces of Deck the Halls DSP, a Cherry Cobbler script and Soft Suede print. Across the center. where the DSP meets I put Sticky Strip and attached the new Champagne Glass Glitter. The image was stamped twice on Very Vanilla CS and watercolored with Blender Pens & Classic Ink in Cherry Cobbler & Always Artichoke. Oh, also a hint of Soft Suede on the branches. Instead of coloring the center of the flowers I attached a glue dot and more glitter! Might be too much, I'm still deciding. Not overly complex, but I think it was the coloring that stressed me tonight.  Cherry Cobbler is such a rich color it was hard to get it right.

It's all OK, I'll just have a glass of wine before heading to bed! Tomorrow is another day and I hope to be back with something else stamped!! I'm telling myself I'm getting up and moving to get things done so I can stamp by afternoon!!! We shall see. Have a good Monday all!!

Baja Flurry Swap

Here is my last swap creation that for some reason I haven't posted yet! I need some sort of organizational therapy-I can't seem to get or keep it together lately!!! Anyway, the card!

I was very rushed for time (imagine that!!) so this is a very easy to reproduce card!! Perfect for Holiday cards!!

Card base is Not Quite Navy. The background is Baja Breeze that I put through the new Northern Flurry Embossing Folder (Love it!!). After embossing, I mixed up some Platinum Shimmer Spray (several drops of Shimmer Paint in 91% Isopropyl Alcohol). Spritz the layer generously.  HINT:  Do this in a well ventilated area if you are doing very many!!! They do dry fast, but you will smell it for awhile!! Another hint:  Only mix the amount you are going to use right away. It does not keep well in the bottle, the paint settles out and solidifies at the bottom.

While the Shimmer was drying, I stamped the "Peace Love Joy" in Not Quite Navy on Shimmer White CS and punched with the 1-3/4" Circle punch. I layered those on a Brushed Silver Decorative Label punch. I tied a Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon around the Baja layer and added an accent of the new Silver Tinsel Trim.  Rhinestone brads in the center of 3 snowflakes is the final accent. QUICK!!! Seriously, I made 21 of these in less than 3 hours, and that included the time to create the first one!!

Hope you all are having a great weekend! I need to go do a few things outside, then hope to find some stamping time this afternoon and get back on my creative track!!!

ColorLab7

Wow, where did the last week go???  I'm not sure, but I know it's time for another ColorLab Thursday challenge!!  Always glad for the inspiration and a reason to HAVE to go stamp!!!  Another challenging set of colors this week, here is the inspiration:

GARDEN GREEN, WILD WASABI, CRUMB CAKE, CHOCOLATE CHIP & VERY VANILLA.

Great colors for anything masculine, or with Nature images.  Here is what I did with it!

Card base is Chocolate Chip, with a layer of Garden Green behind the background Very Vanilla. The Vanilla was textured around the edge with the Swirl side of the Perfect Details Texturz Plate, leaving an unembossed oval in the center (see this post for doing that with Texturz plates). In amongst the texture I stamped the small leaf from Lovely as a Tree in Chocolate Chip, Garden Green, Wild Wasabi & Crumb Cake, some full strength, some off once. I then sponged over all the texturing and around the edge of the card with Crumb Cake. Next I inked the tree image with markers. The trunk was colored first with Chocolate Chip, including some of the obvious branches in the image. Next I colored all the rest of the tree with Crumb Cake. Then I thumped (tap the stamp with the brush end of the marker), quite a bit, with both Garden Green & Wild Wasabi. Then just a few times with Chocolate Chip. I also used the Garden Green to do the grass lines under the tree. Remember to huff on the tree before you stamp to refresh the ink!! Click on the card to enlarge the picture if you would like to see more detail!! The saying is from Thoughts and Prayers and I inked the Wishing you... in Chocolate Chip and the Get Well Soon in Garden Green.  I rummaged up a piece of Chocolate Chip satin ribbon for across the bottom. (GET YOUR CHOCOLATE CHIP SATIN RIBBON NOW-IT'S IN THE SUMMER MINI ONLY THAT ENDS 8/31/10!!) My final accent is a new button from the Holiday Mini catalog, Crumb Cake in Color. I pulled a piece of Very Vanilla Taffeta ribbon through it, knotted it, and sponged it with Garden Green ink.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you'll stop by the ColorLab and play along with us!!

ColorLab6

Wow, it's Thursday again!!! My boys have one week of school under their belt already. Hard to believe!!!  Did you grab your lab coat?? Time to spend some time cooking up something in the ColorLab!! Here are the colors for this week:

Cherry Cobbler, Almost Amethyst, Certainly Celery and Old Olive. Almost Amethyst is retired, and I put away all those colors, so I subbed in Perfect Plum. Here is what I came up with:

I used another set from the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog, Paisley Prints. Card base is Cherry Cobbler. Background layer Old Olive behind Very Vanilla. I inked the leaf from the set, first in Perfect Plum and rolled the edges in Cherry Cobbler. I repeated that with Certainly Celery and Old Olive. As long as you're doing the light color first, then rolling on the darker, it won't do any damage to your ink pad. I alternated my way across the center, left bottom to top right. Then filled in the edges. A Certainly Celery grosgrain ribbon is attached across two corners, with Metallic brads for accent. The center has a Decorative Label punch in Perfect Plum behind a Very Vanilla wide oval that was stamped with "Thinking of You" from Sincere Salutation. I stamped another leaf there in Perfect Plum and Cherry Cobbler after stamping it off once.

That's it for me today! Thanks for stopping by here, won't you stop by the Lab and try the challenge?

Just Believe Club Card 3

The third card from club on Sunday.  Not really a new idea as I've done several similar one, but for this one I did use a different color and a different accessory!

Card base is Soft Suede. Background is the "grass" image from Inspired by Nature in Soft Suede, on the Soft Suede. The Scallop Oval Frame die was used twice, once is Regal Rose and once in Naturals Ivory. The oval was stamped after inking the image with the marker in Regal Rose and Soft Suede. Before attaching to the card base we attached a small piece of the Chantilly Crochet Trim that we had sponged with Regal Rose. The frame was textured with the Vintage Wall embossing folder after cutting. Both the oval and frame are attached with dimensionals. Lastly, we added the saying with the "box" element. We stamped it in Soft Suede on Naturals Ivory. We added a saying with Regal Rose using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig and cut it out. It's attached just at the bottom of the oval.

That's it for today! Tomorrow is ColorLab Thursday so make sure you stop back by and see what I came up with!! Thanks all!!

Watercolor Trio Side Step

My hostess asked for a Side Step card so that is what we did.  I always encourage them to let me know if there is anything in particular they'd like to see or do.  I might have to learn something, but that's a good thing!!  These pictures do not represent the color quite accurately.  I need to study my camera manual I guess!  Trust me, the Poppy Parade is very bright and cheery in person!!  The pics seem almost cloudy, kind of like the day outside!!

Here is a view from the front.  Notice the steps on the right side? You need a papercutter with both a cutting and scoring blade. Start with a regular half sheet of cardstock, 8-1/2" x 5-1/2".  Place the 5-1/2" side at the top of the cutter and line it up at the 2" mark. With your cutting blade, cut from 2-1/8" to 7-1/2".  Turn your cardstock and remove the cutting blade. We were scoring the smaller side of the cardstock (you could do either, if you want wider steps do the other side) so we found it easiest to put that at the bottom of the cutter. Start at 2-1/8 and make sure you have the cut lining up. Your cut starts at 2-1/8 and you want the first score line to match up with that. Flip your cardstock if you have it the other way. Score at 2-1/8 just to the cut line. Score at 4-1/4 all the way across (this is your center fold on the card). Continue scoring at 5-3/8, 6-1/2 & 7-1/2. Fold so that your wide side is front left, steps on right. Clear as mud, I know. But sit down and do one and it becomes much more clear!!

Here is a side view showing the steps more clearly.  Card base is Poppy Parade and we used the Watercolor Trio set that is in the Summer Mini.  It will be GONE as of August 31, so order it now if you haven't yet!!  Other colors are Pear Pizzazz and So Saffron. Some images colored with marks, some using ink pads.  The butterfly punch was used on Poppy Parade DSP and we added a small So Saffron flower in the center.  Poppy ribbon knotted and attched on the front panel. Scallop Oval and Large Oval punches for the words.  Butterflies stamped lightly behind the words (stamp off once).

Here is another version, very similar but slight change in the words. I grabbed the On Your Birthday set to add the "It's your day-Enjoy" at the top of the back side panel and then decided the Happy Birthday from that set would look good as well.  So, two choices!!

One more view of the side to see how the stairs set. Let me know if you have questions!!  Thanks for stopping by!

Wow! Another one!

Obviously I should be stamping more, I seem to be on a roll!!  I just happened by The Paper Players blog (previously at Always Playing with Paper), one that I like to frequent and try their challenges, and I found my card from last week as one of the "A Cut Above" choices!  Cool!  I knew it went together very well, but didn't expect that!!  The card is below again, details are found HERE.

Make sure you stop back by tomorrow, I'll be posting a Stair Step card that I did with my club girls this weekend.  Fun, Fun!!  I worked today instead of tomorrow, so I'll be stamping up a storm!!  Need to see if I can whip out a swap.  Wish me luck!!

Just Believe Sponged Oval

Club was today-yeah!!  Those are always great days, even if I hardly sleep the night before!  That is my own fault of course, can't seem to help but be a procrastinator!!  Here if the first card we did today, pretty much a direct case of the super creative stamper, Mary Brown.  I changed the colors but not too much else!  It was a great hit with my girls!!

Card base is Old Olive with a tight layer of Early Espresso behind Whisper White.  The oval is made by using a frame cut with the Oval Scallop Frame die in the Big Shot and sponging color inside.  The top half is Daffodil Delight, the bottom Old Olive.  Over that we stamped the flower image from Just Believe in  Early Espresso.  The Daffodil Scallop edge that you see on the left side is the Scallop Ribbon border punch, with just the scallop edge showing.  An Old Olive Taffeta ribbon is attached around the bottom.  The saying was inked with markers, all the words but 'believed' are in Old Olive, 'believed' is in Early Espresso.  The wide oval punch is layered on the new Decorative Label punch in Daffodil Delight.  That punch is not available until next month, but they forgave me!  Nothing else works behind that wide oval.  Trust me, I tried all kinds of other options last night and kept coming back to this one!!  Lastly we stamped the smaller flower/leaf image in Daffodil Delight over the words.  Generally I do this by stamping off first once to give it a lighter, not overpowering look, but this one is full strength.  The yellow of the Daffodil Delight is light enough with the Old Olive and Early Espresso that it works.

Thanks for stopping by!!  Items used listed below in detail.

Color Inspiration

Tonight I decided I needed some inspiration, needed to stamp and be creative, but it's always easier with a challenge.  So, I picked the Paper Players Color challenge.  Look at this to die for picture-doesn't it make you NEED dessert!  And actually, I already had a very wonderful chocolate dessert for lunch, but this one still looks good.

I looked around my room to see what might work, and settled again on the French Foliage set.  I've always been a fan of leaf sets, but this one in particular really appeals to me.  Maybe I'm just tired of nearly 100 degree humid days and READY for fall!!!

Here is what I came up with!

Card base is Early Espresso with a layer of Cherry Cobbler behind a Very Vanilla background.  On that background, I centered an Oval Scallop die frame and sponged Crumb Cake onto the Very Vanilla.   In the center of the oval I stamped the saying from Word Play in Early Espresso.   Then I stamped the large leaf in Early Espresso at each corner and filled in with a smaller one in Cherry Cobbler.    The corners on the Very Vanilla and Cherry Cobbler layers are rounded with the Corner Rounder.  The edge of the Very Vanilla is sponged with Early Espresso.  Next, I took my Crop-a-dile and punched a slot on each end of the oval long enough to insert the wide Early Espresso striped grosgrain through.  Not completely as wide as the ribbon, it is gathered just a bit.  I went all the way under the Very Vanilla layer and knotted the ribbon on the left side.  The Cherry Cobbler button has both Very Vanilla and Early Espresso grosgrain knotted through it.  It is attached with glue dots just over the punched slot on the right side.

Bet you can't wait for your Holiday Mini to arrive in your mail box, and for the sales period to start.  September 1st!!  Not that I ever like to rush the calender, it goes pretty fast on its own!!

Thanks for stopping by today!!

ColorLab5

Time for another challenge at the ColorLab!  Let's see what we're cooking up this week!!  Here is the inspiration:

Colors are Daffodil Delight, Blushing Bride, Basic Gray, Crumb Cake & Real Red.  My thoughts went along with the pencil and back to school, probably in part because my boys are starting TODAY!!!

Here is what I came up with:

A Good Luck with for someone starting a new venture!   Card base is Basic Gray.  Background is Daffodil Delight that I textured with the Square Lattice folder.  At the top is a strip of Crumb Cake, and under the bottom scallop edge is a strip of Blushing Bride, both inspired by the pencil.  Around the center is a Real Red Grosgrain ribbon.  The Scallop Oval Die was used to cut a Crumb Cake and the smaller Real Red oval.  I unwrapped my new Owl punch and gave it a try!  Love it and will be using it much more in the future!  Owl body is Basic Gray, eyes are Crumb Cake, Blushing Bride & Basic Gray.  Blushing Bride DSP for the body and a Daffodil Delight heart.  The owl is attached with dimensionals onto the ovals, and the ovals are attached with dimensionals over the ribbon.  The saying is from Fundamental Phrases and is stamped in Real Red on Crumb Cake, punched with the Large oval and layered on a Scallop Oval of Basic Gray.

Won't you play along this week?  Click HERE to enter the lab.

Simple Friendship Friend

Another card!  This one works for a couple of blog challenges. Stampin' Royalty for the 'Create your own DSP background' challenge they have this week, and Hand Stamped Sentiments color challenge:  Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight & Tempting Turquoise.  Here is what I came up with!

Card base is Melon Mambo with a tight layer of Tempting Turquoise before the background layer.  For the background, I stamped the larger flower in an attempted pattern on Whisper White with Melon Mambo, then filled in with the smaller flower in both Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise.  A Daffodil Delight Taffeta ribbon is tied around-in a full bow for once, not a knot!  The 'friend' image was stamped in Melon Mambo and punched with the 1-3/4" circle punch.  It was then layered on two punches of the new (in the Holiday Mini) Decorative Label, one in Daffodil Delight and one in Tempting Turquoise.  That is layered on a piece of Melon Mambo before attaching with Stampin' Dimensionals over the ribbon. The corners on the background "DSP" and the Melon Mambo were punched with the Ticket Corner punch.

Sneak Peek French Foliage

Found a little stamping time today. It's too hot to do anything else!! And that makes me ready for fall, so I decided to give this new set from the upcoming Holiday Mini, French Foliage, a try.  I started with the Stamping 411 Saturday sketch and a color combo from the new Color Coach, from the Cajun Craze tab: Cajun Craze, Perfect Plum & Always Artichoke.  I added Crumb Cake for my neutral.  Here is what I came up with.  A few more sneak peeks other than the set!

Card base is Cajun Craze that was textured on the front with the Finial Press embossing folder. Can't seem to do a card lately without texturing something! The Top Note was cut from Crumb Cake.  I first stamped the script image from the set randomly all over the Top Note. It's very light, but in person give it a little something extra. Next I did the 3 leaves in Cajun Craze, Perfect Plum & Always Artichoke.  The edges are sponged with Perfect Plum. The saying in the center is from Word Play and is punched with a new punch, Decorative Label.  Again here I first stamped the script image on the background with Crumb Cake, then did the leaf in Perfect Plum before doing the saying in Cajun Craze.  Next, I mixed up a little Champagne Mist Shimmer paint spray and spritzed both the Top Note and the punched saying.   Behind the label punch is a 1-3/4" circle of Cajun craze.  Vintage brads at the corners and a Mini Library Clip for accent.  Across the bottom is the new 1/2" Seam Binding ribbon in Always Artichoke.  First I put down a strip of Sticky Strip, then gathered the ribbon onto that.  My first time and the good news is you can pull it up gently if you don't like how it's going.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Just Believe Watercolor

I did a workshop this week for one of my customers here in Crete (thanks again Joey!).  Met a great group of ladies!!  A GREAT night out for all!!  Here are the two cards the guests got to make.

First up, I decided it was past time I tried out the new In Color-Poppy Parade.  At first glance, it's just another red.  But, after using it, it's definitely it's own shade!  Very Poppy like-ha!  I paired it with Wild Wasabi on this quick sample using the new set, Just Believe.  One of my new favorites!!  The card base is Poppy Parade that I textured with the Square Lattice embossing folder.  Top Note was cut from Naturals Ivory.  We inked the image with markers in Poppy Parade & Wild Wasabi.   The edges of the Top Note were sponged with Wild Wasabi.  Gold brads were added at the side and top points of the Top Note.  Poppy Stitched-Poly ribbon was tied around.  There are two sayings in this set that worked on the oval stamp, 'just for you' and 'thank you'.  A Scallop oval is layered behind and attached with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Next up is this card, which probably looks a lot like something you've seen HERE  before.  I was running late on my prep, and a thunderstorm with a tornado warning didn't help.  My room is upstairs and that is NOT the place to be during  a tornado warning.   I wanted to use Watercolor Trio since it won't be available after August, and I was inspired by the previous creation.

Card base is Early Espresso.  Neutral is Very Vanilla, and pink is Melon Mambo.  I stamped in Espresso on the card base with the taller image from the set.  The middle size image is stamped across the Melon Mambo layer, with Melon Mambo.  On both of these, I stamped some full strength and some off once.  An Early Espresso Taffeta ribbon is knotted around the Melon Mambo before attaching it to the card base.  I also scalloped the bottom edge with the Scallop Trim border punch.  The main image was inked using the Early Espresso & Melon Mambo markers.  It is layered on Melon Mambo and then Early Espresso.  Attached with Stampin' Dimensionals over the ribbon.  All three sayings in this set fit on the Designer Label punch, this sample shows the 'Birthday Wishes'.  Behind the Designer Label is a Melon Mambo circle (1-3/8" punch).  Lastly, two pearls were added on the right side of the Melon Mambo strip, just above the scallops.

Quick and easy cards!  Let me know if you have any questions.  Let me know also if you'd like to host a workshop.  During August only, hostesses with a workshop total of $350 and over get an EXTRA $25 FREE!!  Book yours today!!

ColorLab4

Got your lab coat??  It's Thursday again so time for another ColorLab challenge!  Love this one, especially the inspiration piece.  I think I may have to play again before the week is out-there's another idea running around in my head!!  Hope you'll join us!

Here is what I came up with!  That print just made me think nature, so I pulled out Pocket Silhouettes and my Oval punch to mimic the spots in the print.

Card base is Early Espresso, textured with the Finial Press embossing folder.  It seems I have to have texture of some sort on my cards these day!!  I put a strip of Very Vanilla across the center with the new Early Espresso 1/8" Taffeta across the top and bottom.  Then I stamped the 4 images in Early Espresso on the four colors: Cherry Cobbler, Bashful Blue, Cajun Craze & Certainly Celery.  I sponged the edge of each oval with the same color and the edges of the Very Vanilla lightly with Early Espresso.  Lastly I stamped the "thanks so much" on Very Vanilla, punched with the smallest oval and layered onto the Modern Label punched in cherry Cobbler.  Metallic Brads are the final accent.

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope that you'll join us and see what you can cook up in your lab!!  Click here to find the post with Mr Linky so we can all see your creation!!

Thank you for stopping by the SUDSOL New Catalog Blog Tour!  I'm sure you won't be disappointed-this group is FULL of VERY talented stampers!!!  I've been a member almost as long as I've been a demo and I'm rapidly approaching my 10th anniversary!!  Any question you may have, someone on SUDSOL will know the answer!!  And the website is a GREAT resource for your business.  Samples, forms, ideas,... the list goes on and one!!  All you demos out there should definitely do the FREE Two Week Trial-you won't be disappointed!!

On to the stamping! As with the previous SUDSOL tour, the goal is demonstratable projects.  If you're not a demo, that should just mean you're finding easy to recreate projects, not over the top projects.   Note that I've listed the specific items used on each card at the very bottom of my post.  You can click to enlarge any picture you want to see in more detail.

First up for me today is a masculine card.  We have a couple of great new sets for masculine, one of which is this one, Countryside. Card base is Not Quite Navy, background is Naturals Ivory.  I textured the background using a Texturz Plate (Squares from Texture Plates Kit #4) with the wooden craft frame as part of the sandwich so that the oval center is NOT textured.  In the non-textured center I stamped the truck image in Black Stazon and watercolored using classic inks and a blender pen.  Colors used are Not Quite Navy, Garden Green, Riding Hood Red, Basic Gray & Crumb Cake.  I rounded the corners and sponged the outside edge with Not Quite Navy.  The texture is also sponged, with Crumb Cake to accent it.  The saying is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, stamped in Garden Green, punched with the Word Window punch and layered on a Riding Hood Red Modern Label punch.  Two Metallic brads were added for accent.

Next up is a card featuring the new set, Just Believe.  The layout may look familiar if you happened by here earlier this week, but this die & stamp set work perfectly together!!  This set is quickly working it's way up my favorites list!!  Colors here are Daffodil Delight & Old Olive.  The background grass image is from Inspired by Nature, stamped in Old Olive on Old Olive.  I cut the Oval Scallop frame twice, once in Naturals White & once in Daffodil Delight.  The frame was textured with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder.  The main image was inked with markers:  Old Olive on the stems, Daffodil Delight on the flowers.   The frame & center oval were attached with dimensionals.  The saying, also from this set, was stamped in Old Olive and punched with the Wide Oval punch.  The edges of the scallop oval, center oval, and saying oval were all sponged with Daffodil Delight.  Pretty quick and easy card, definitely something you can demo or even use for a hands on project!!

This card is one of those "happy accidents" that you end up liking.  I started by casing the sample in the catalog (page 214).  Don't you love all the inspiration in that catalog???  I added a layer and used completely different colors.  The card base is Whisper White, background is Marina Mist that I ran through the Big Shot with the Elegant Lines embossing folder.  This folder is also fast becoming a favorite!!  I decided it needed a little something else, so I grabbed my Whisper White Craft ink pad to dab onto the raised lines.  Of course I got ink more than just on the lines, so I decided to add some Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  Bling!  Very sparkly in real life, and pretty enough to be the perfect wedding card!  I added some of the new Rhinestone Jewels for extra accent.  The saying is from the Word Play set, stamped in Marina Mist on Whisper White and punched with the Large Circle punch.  See the Rhinestone on there??  Satin ribbon around the top and some Marina 1/8" Taffeta attaching the tag to the ribbon.

That does it for me today, thank you very much for stopping by!  I hope you've found some inspiration and great ideas for your business or card making projects!!  I hope that I'll see you here again soon, or on SUDSOL!!
