Sketch Frenzy Friday 092812

Happy Friday all! Are you ready for the weekend?? I am!! Let's start it with a Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge!! You must stop over and take a look at our new format! No hop, all the creations are on the SFF blog! One stop for all your creative ideas!! And, I must say, the group has outdone themselves this week for our debut-the cards are fantastic!!

Here is my creation of the week

based on this sketch by Maria Vanderform. Great sketch-LOTS of possibilities!!

My card base is Pumpkin Pie that I textured with the Chevron Folder in the Big Shot. The polka dot print is Pumpkin Pie from the Polka Dot Parade DSP pack. I layered it onto Basic Gray and knotted a Basic Gray 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain around. The main image is the Frightening Feline stamp from the Holiday Mini. And, let me warn you: this is NOT the easiest stamp to ink! I found a light tap of the ink pad to stamp worked best. A "heavy hand" gave me way too much ink and the words blurred!! I added Googly Eyes, layered it onto Basic Gray and attached over the ribbon and other background.

Thanks for stopping by today!! Click over to the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog and see what everyone else created. Then, make sure you play along!!

Clean and Simple French Foliage

I was looking around at different blogs last night and stopped by Shelli's. Shelli Gardner, the co-founder of Stampin' Up!. She issues a creative challenge each month and this one is a two-layer card. This was the theme of the swap at Founders Circle, so I've seen some great ones shared by other Demo's recently. I took up the challenge while cheering my Wildcats to victory over the Sooners!!

Guess which set I reached for?? French Foliage!!

I flipped through the Color Coach for a Fall color combination and settle on this one: Cajun Craze, Always Artichoke and So Saffron. The card base is Cajun Craze, the background Naturals Ivory. I grabbed the size D Clear Block and inked it with So Saffron. I stamped that in the center of the background, then added leaves and splatter dots over it. The "thank you" is from Sassy Salutations. A So Saffron Taffeta ribbon knotted around proved a simple accent.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 092112

Happy Friday all-hope it's been a GREAT week :)

Friday means another round of Sketch Frenzy Friday! A fun sketch challenge and mini blog hop!! Here is my creation

based on this fun sketch by Kim Innis!!

My card base is Gumball Green with a background of Gumball Green, but Core'dinations Gumball Green that was embossed with the Lacy Brocade folder and sanded with the new Stampin' Sanding Block. The strip across is from the Be of Good Cheer DSP pack in the big catalog. Cherry Cobbler card stock is the vertical strip. The Doily accent was cut with the Delicate Doilies Sizzlit from Very Vanilla, same as the sketch! I added the Christmas tree from Scentsational Season and a star. The tree was stamped with Gumball Green, the star Cherry Cobbler. Both were embossed with the Peppermint Sticks EP.

That's it for me today! Continue on our tour by clicking HERE to see what Kim has created this week. Make sure you stop over at the SFF blog and play along!! See you again soon!!

French Foliage NAC12

Howdy all! Made some time to stamp last night, and this is what I came up with for the color challenge over at the Nacho Average Challenge blog. Here is the challenge:

And, here is what I came up with.

I really struggle getting past the leaf stamps this time of year, especially this one-French Foliage! It just calls my name!! Even though leaves are not blue, I knew I could make something work. Card base is Lucky Limeade, accent layer is Island Indigo. Background of Crumb Cake. On the background, I stamped the large leaf in Lucky Limeade, added some of the script in Island Indigo, and some splatter dots in Crumb Cake (some full strength, some stamped off once). I sponged the edge with Crumb Cake before texturing it with the Square Lattice folder in the Big Shot. The saying is from Sassy Salutations. I stamped it onto one of the shapes from the Apothecary Arts Framelits set. I doesn't have a coordinating layer, but I made one. Cut two more of the same shape from Island Indigo and do like we do with the Designer Label punch: cut one in half vertically, the other in half horizontally and layer them behind the Crumb Cake layer. I trimmed a couple edges that I didn't like the look of, but it went together really well! The saying was stamped in Island Indigo, with a Lucky Limeade leaf and Crumb Cake splatter dots in the background. I knotted a Lucky Limeade ribbon around the background, layered the saying over with dimensionals and attached to the base.

Glad to be back in stamping mode!! See you tomorrow for Sketch Frenzy Friday!!

Club Googly Ghouls

Card three from the weekend! A quick, easy, but very fun one!!

Colors: Tangerine Tango, Basic Black and Whisper White. The black background is embossed with the Spider Web Folder in the Big Shot. Over that, we dragged/rubbed the Illuminate Glimmer pad (new, Holiday Mini page 23). Give it just a little time to dry. The spider and "boooo" were stamped with Black Stazon on Whisper White and then punched. The top two punches are the 1-1/4" and 1-3/8" Circles, the lower two the Large Oval and Scallop Oval. The Whisper White punches were layered onto Tangerine Tango punches. Those are attached to the Spider Web background with dimensionals. Across the bottom, a Dotted Tangerine Tango ribbon, dots down, with a Basic Black 1/8" Taffeta knotted around. Oh, almost forgot: final accent, Googly eyes!! Available from Stampin' Up!-could it be any easier?? Item 127539 Googlies $2.50 (US).

Thanks for stopping by all!! Of to the stamp room-hoping to play if I can stay awake :0)

Be back Friday for sure with Sketch Frenzy Friday!!

Club Scentsational

Another Club card from the weekend! Christmas this time, using more fun new toys from the Holiday Mini!!

Colors, Real Red and Whisper White. The dotted paper is from the Polka Dot Parade DSP pack. I have Christmas prints, but I really liked the look of just the Red and White! The Merry Christmas is from the More Merry Messages (not in the Holiday Mini, but NEW to the big catalog this year). The shapes in Real Red and Whisper White are framelits from the new Window Frames Collection in the Holiday Mini. These are going to be fun-a simple twist and you have a whole different shape!! The candy cane from Scentsational  Season was stamped on a separate piece of Whisper White and cut in the Big Shot with the coordinating Holiday Collection Framelit. Oh, it wasn't just stamped! We embossed (or Jan did-thanks again!!) it using the new Peppermint Sticks Embossing Powder!! We attached the candy cane with dimensionals. One more thing-we also Pierced around the Red Window Frame using the new Festive Paper-Piercing pack! Love these templates!!

Thanks for stopping by today!! One more Club card to share, hopefully tomorrow, then Sketch Frenzy Friday as usual on Friday!!

Club Wonderfall

Hello all! Don't fall off your chairs-a non SFF post from me!! It's been a while, but I had Club last weekend with my girls so I have a few cards to share!! Good day in all with the girls, rough on me getting it all together, but that is what happens when you're a procrastinator!!

Here is the first card, made using the Wonderfall set and some other new goodies from the Holiday Mini.

The card base is Crumb Cake. The background is the new Core'dinations Card Stock in Early Espesso. I textured it with the new Woodgrain Embossing Folder, then sanded off the ridges with the new Stampin' Sanding Block.

The leaves are from the Wonderfall set, and there is a Bigz Die that coordinates for cutting them out. But, note I said a Bigz Die, not Framelits. What we did was to cut the leaves first. Next, ink your stamp and lay it block down. Gently set the leaf down on the ink and rub all over it to ink. It works pretty well! The big leaf is Cajun Craze, the long leaf is More Mustard, and the small one is Always Artichoke. Another idea I saw online somewhere, was to make a template (cut the leaves out of a piece of card stock the size of the die), then attached the template to the die with Scotch tape. Then, after you've inked your image, slide it under the template to the desired location and cut. I'll be trying this soon and let you know what I think!!

The saying is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and was stamped in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla, then punched with the Word Window punch. It is layered onto a Cajun Craze Modern Label and attached to the background with dimensionals. Above that we have tied around the base some Linen Thread and Baker's Twine. They are knotted in the center (I did mine separately, but some tied all together) through the new Brushed Bronze Designer Buttons. After securing the knot I added a Mini Glue dot behind it. The leaves are attached above the button with dimensionals. We curled the edges just a little before attaching for extra dimension.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 091412

My card of the week

based on this sketch, also by me!! Those of you who frequent this blog may recognize it. I generally base my sketches on a card I've done. This one is from one of the cards at my last round of Open Houses!!

The card base is Basic Black. The background, Elegant Eggplant and Tangerine Tango DSP. The top layer of Whisper White was stamped with the Jack of All Trades set. The pumpkin in Tangerine Tango first, then the hat in Elegant Eggplant. Finally, the saying and face in Basic Black. Pretty quick card really!!

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you have a GREAT weekend on tap!! Continue on our tour by clicking HERE to see what Kim has created this week. Remember, all member blogs are linked in my right sidebar if you hit a speed bump somewhere!! Stop by and play along this week!!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 090712

Happy Friday all! Hope you've had a good week! Not too bad here, it's feeling a little like Fall again after another heat wave last week. Hoping I have to wear my sweatshirt before the end of the football game tonight :)

OK, on to the reason you stopped by-Sketch Frenzy Friday! The sketch and I just clicked this week!! Love it when that happens!! It took me less than 30 minutes to make this card!!

Here is the sketch of the week, by Deb Currier.

The card base is Basic Gray with a Rich Razzleberry accent layer behind the Whisper White background. I stamped the flower from Blooming with Kindness on the left side. Then I cut two scalloped pieces with the Tasteful Trim die, one in Basic Gray and one in Rich Razzleberry. I layered them together, attached near the bottom of the Whisper White and trimmed the edges at the edge of the Whisper White. I stamped the saying in Basic Gray just above the scallop borders, then added a Rich Razzleberry Stitched Grosgrain ribbon across the top. Quick and easy!!
