Sketch Frenzy Friday 012513

Happy Friday all! Long week here, but ready for another Robotics tournament this weekend! Go Crete!! Hope your week went well!!

Time for another round of Sketch Frenzy Friday!! Here is my creation

based on this sketch by Kim Innis.

My card looks a whole lot like the sketch doesn't it? Color and all. Sometimes they really speak to me! Actually, it's probably more of a procrastination thing! But, I started out thinking the whale would work well either where the oval shape is, or possibly on an oval there. Then the shading of the sketch made me think of shading the layers, and what better colors for a whale then blues??

The card base is Basic Gray. A Whisper White layer accents the background of Island Indigo, Baja Breeze and Pool Party. I layered the blues together then used the Jumbo Oh, Wave! wheel on them with the Illuminate Glimmer Watermark pad. The saying was stamped in Indigo at the bottom. The accent stripes are Pool Party and Island Indigo ribbon. The whale was stamped in Baja Breeze on Whisper White and cut with the coordinating Clearlit Die. The oval was cut with the Ovals Collection framelits. The whale is attached with dimensionals and has a rhinestone eye for the final accent.

Thanks for stopping by today! Make sure you stop over at the main SFF blog to see what the rest of the team created, AND to play along!! Have a GREAT weekend all!!

Rain or Shine Royalty

I made some time to play last night, and chose the Sketch Challenge at Stampin' Royalty for inspiration. Here is what I came up with

based on this sketch.

Have I mentioned I REALLY like this  Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP?? The bright color combinations are just too fun!! Card base is Pacific Point with an accent of Daffodil Delight behind the Whisper White background. I embossed the background with the new Cloudy Day folder. Across the center is the stripe print from the pack with a Lucky Limeade accent. The circle/scallop accents are the dotted print from the DSP pack on Pacific Point. I couldn't find two circles that worked well together size wise so I settled on the 1-3/4" circle on the 2-3/8" Scallop. The pinwheel was cut with the new Pinwheel Sizzlit from another print from Sunshine & Sprinkles. It is secured together with a Daffodil Delight brad and attached with a Mini Glue Dot. The umbrella was stamped in Pacific Point and cut out. I attached it with a dimensional over the handle. The saying is in  Lucky Limeade. A Melon Mambo dotted ribbon is the final accent behind the umbrella layer.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

More Amore Valentine

Card three from Club last weekend! Had to work in one Valentine as I won't see them in February until after Valentines Day!

Card base is Real Red with a background of Real Red Core'dinations Card Stock. We embossed it with the new Honeycomb folder and sanded over to reveal the lighter core center. Great distressed look isn't it?? Over that we added a layer of Very Vanilla with a small heart print from the More Amore DSP pack. Around that was knotted a Pool Party ribbon. Hearts cut with the Hearts a Flutter Framelit set are layered over. The large scallop stripe was attached with dimensionals to set over the ribbon. The saying is from Delightful Dozen and was stamped in Real Red on Very Vanilla and punched with the Scallop Oval punch and attached with dimensionals to the background. A small heart punched from the DSP was attached over the heart in the image.

Club Rain or Shine

Club card two from last weekend using the fun new Rain or Shine set and coordinating Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP. Fun fun!!

Card base is Marina Mist with an accent layer of Daffodil Delight. Can you see the clouds on the Whisper White? Click to enlarge the picture if not. A very fun new Embossing Folder called Cloudy Day! At the bottom is one of the prints from Sunshine and Sprinkles. Aren't those Umbrellas a blast? and what fun, bright colors!! Across the center is the new ribbon, 3/8" Striped Organdy in Melon Mambo. The ovals were cut with the new Framelit set, Ovals Collection. The umbrella was stamped in Melon Mambo, the handle in Basic Gray. We used the stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement. A few raindrops at the top in Marina Mist finish it. The saying was stamped in Marina in Whisper White and punched with the Scallop Oval punch. We  sponged the edges light for slight contrast.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 011813

Happy Friday all! Man, don't some of these weeks just zip past??? This one sure did!! Excited for the weekend though and the Robotics tournament on the agenda!! Good Luck Crete High Robotics!!

OK, on to the reason you are here!! Friday means another round of Sketch Frenzy Friday!! Here is my creation

based on this sketch, also by me!!

I had such fun with the DSP circle cards a few months back I decided to make it my sketch this time around. You can see the card my Club girls did in December HERE. While working on cards last weekend for Club, I decided I was going to try hearts instead of circles. I like how it came out!!

The colors of the card are driven by the DSP-the fun More Amore pack from the Spring Mini. The card base is Real Red with an accent layer of Pool Party under the background of Very Vanilla. I used an assortment of Framelits and Embosslits for the hearts. The large heart print in the center, the red heart and the zig-zag print on the red heart are the 3 smallest hearts in the Hearts Collection Framelits set. The Pool Party dotted heart was cut with the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit. The Primrose Petal textured heart was cut with the Fashionable Hearts Embosslit. The last heart, the printed one under the ribbon, was cut with the smaller heart in the new Hearts a Flutter Framelit set from the Spring Mini. The heart clip is a fun new accessory in the Spring Mini. We have two sets, this one is the Elements that includes whales, hearts and birds! I knotted a Real Red 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain ribbon to one edge and clipped the edge under the large center heart. I added a glue dot behind the ribbon to get it to lay flat. Lastly, I added the Happy Valentine's Day sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Real Red just below all the hearts.

Club Swallowtail

Finally-a Club card from last weekend!! Case'd from my friend & fellow SFF team member Tammy Fite!!

I wanted a bright, fun color so I chose Cameo Coral. The card base is Cameo Coral, the accent layers Basic Gray, background Naturals Ivory. We did this just like the triple time technique. We attached the two layers of Naturals Ivory together, inked up the butterfly, and stamped both together. Angle the butterfly, or stamp it straight, doesn't really matter-t doesn't fit all the way on the card front and they all look fine! After stamping, take the layers apart, attach to the Basic Gray accent layers. Attach all the layers and add a saying in the center. I chose "oh happy day" from Friendly Phrases.

Quick and easy! This stamp has lots of potential!! Hope I can find time soon to play with it more!! Thanks for stopping by today-come back soon :)

Sketch Frenzy Friday 011113

Happy Friday all! Hope you survived being back to a normal week with no holidays :) Not so bad here so far, but you never know what Friday might bring!!

What we know it brings though is another round of Sketch Frenzy Friday! Make sure you make time to play along!! Here is my creation

based on this sketch by Deb Currier.

Finally I got to play with some new stuff from the Spring mini! I've worked a little on getting my room back in shape and hope to get back to more regular stamping!! The DSP here is from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack. Lots of fun prints in this one-in a fun size of 4-1/2" x 6-1/2"! Colors featured are Summer Starfruit, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, Very Vanilla and just a hint of Gumball Green. The card base is Raspberry Ripple. The stripe print was cut just 1/8" different in size and is layered onto the background. Next is a Primrose accent behind the dotted print. The banner is Summer Starfruit and I cut the points at the bottom with a square punch, and as usual it isn't quite straight. On that, I stamped "Oh, Hello" from the new set of the same name. The rose is also from that set and was stamped on a Very Vanilla oval cut with the smallest in the new Ovals Collection Framelits set. I inked the rose with Raspberry Ripple and Gumball Green markers. After stamping I added some Summer Starfruit accents with a blender pen. Lightly, and of course it blended with the Raspberry and Gumball. The Vanilla oval is layered onto the next size oval in Raspberry Ripple.

That's it for today! Thanks for stopping by! Make sure you stop over by the Main SFF Blog to see the creations of the rest of the team, and to play along!! We love to see what you come up with!! Have a GREAT weekend all!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 010413

Happy Friday all! Hope you're back in the swing of things after all the Holiday time!

Friday means another challenge at Sketch Frenzy Friday! Here is my creation

based on this sketch by Tammy Fite.

I ended up with a masculine look this week! I was scrolling through the catalog to see what might work with the center panel when I settled on the horse. I had the set new, sitting quietly, waiting to be used :) So, I grabbed it, mounted it and went to work!

The card base and accent layer behind the horse are Not Quite Navy. The background is Soft Suede. I randomly stamped the horse shoe there, then textured with the Woodgrain folder. By the way, that folder was in the Holiday Mini but is still available to order. See page 36 of the Spring Mini for a complete page of items you can still order!! The top layer is Crumb Cake on which I stamped the horse and verse in Soft Suede. The accent layer of Not Quite Navy was cut on each edge with the Finishing Touches Edgelit. I sponged the edges of the Crumb Cake layer with Crumb Cake, and the Soft Suede with Soft Suede. That's it!

Club Blooming Sorry

I'm on a roll! Another card from awhile back that I haven't shared yet! Club card 3 from club in December. Inspired by something I saw online, but it's been so long ago now I don't remember where! I thought I did, but can't find it on that blog. I will keep looking and update this post when I figure it out!

Card base is Crumb Cake with a Soft Suede layer behind a Naturals Ivory focal layer. The Soft Suede layer was cut at the bottom with the Large Scallop Edgelit. On the Naturals Ivory, we first sponged a shape in Crumb Cake. First you have to cut the shape with the Apothecary framelits. Its the tall, long one. Center the frame part (remove the shape) over your Naturals Ivory and sponge. When done, stamp the flower from Blooming with Kindness in Soft Suede on the left side, and "So Sorry" from So Sorry on the right side, also in Soft Suede. Next we used the coordinating template from the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and pierce just inside the sponged image, starting at the top edge of the flower, and going around to the bottom edge of the flower. Attach the Natural layer to the Soft Suede. Across the bottom, just above the scallop, attach Soft Suede Taffeta ribbon. First, run two pieces through a ribbon slide. One piece is long enough to go across the card from, the other is small enough to represent a "tied" bow. Attach the ribbon on the back and in a few places across the front. Trim the ends of the short piece to look nice. Attach this entire base to the card base. Done!

Thanks for stopping by today! Don't forget-today is the LAST day to order from the Holiday Mini. Shop HERE now!! View the catalogs online HERE

Happy New Year and Belated Merry Chritmas!

Somehow I never got around to posting my Christmas card this year, so here it is now! I didn't feel overly stressed this year getting them done so not sure why I never scanned it!

I'm always a fan of purple, and with the success of our Kansas State Wildcat football team this year, I've been loving it even more! I decorated one of my Christmas trees in purple also!! So when it was time to work up the annual card, of course I reached for the purple! Elegant Eggplant to be exact. I really liked the card my Club girls did a while back with the snowflakes, see it here, so I went with something very similar. The card base is Basic Gray with a Whisper White accent layer behind the Elegant Eggplant background. The background was stamped with the Snowflake Soiree set in Whisper White, Elegant Eggplant, and Illuminate. I used the largest snowflake in Whisper White, the next size down in Eggplant, and the 3rd size down in Illuminate. Overlap in a collage type effect. Layer the Eggplant onto the Whisper White, then knot a Whisper White taffeta ribbon around. The Merry was stamped in Eggplant on Whisper White and punched with the Wide Oval punch. An Illuminate snowflake was stamped over the Merry before attaching over the ribbon with dimensionals. Pretty quick and easy really! I made over 95, starting at Thanksgiving, and didn't really feel stressed about them!!

A few SU! notes. The last day to order from the Holiday Catalog is tomorrow, January 2nd. Order NOW if there is something you need!! See all of our catalogs online HERE.
