2021 Calendar part 1

Hey all, remember me? Finally some ink on my fingers today! 😍 Hope your Christmas was wonderful! Different I'm sure as it was for us. Luckily both boys made it home and we had a good time!

I started on my 2021 desk calendar today. History, this started as a Paper Pumpkin kit in 2015 for a 2016 calendar. I did that first year and really liked having it on my desk. Didn't realize there was an option to have it again for 2017 so I got by without. Then I realized someone had made the 2018 calendar and I was back in business! I didn't get a full year done for 2018, 6 of 12, but for 2019 I did a full year using my favorite then set Painted Harvest. 2020 I cheated and didn't start over but redid the calendar parts. I still like this set, but it felt like I should start all over for 2021. No bad karma to continue into next year from 2020!!

So, here is the first half of 2021! I settled on Beauty Abounds for my set. Love these dots!! Note also, these are going to be a little rough. They are just for my desk so I wasn't too worried about perfect. Partly because I forgot to change the printer to a nicer print quality! I also cut these free hand so the corners especially are rough!! And there will be retired items used, especially ribbon!

I stuck with my same color reasoning as from 2019. There will be changes I'm sure. But, for each month I think what color goes with? January is cold, winter, snowy. So blue. This one is Seaside Spray, Pacific Point, Misty Moonlight and Smoky Slate. Large dots are Seaside, small dots in both Pacific and Misty. Splatters in Smoky Slate, some full strength, some stamped off once. Base and accent layer are Misty Moonlight, ribbon is Seaside Spray, background is Whisper White.

February is Valentines day so Red or pink. This is all Poppy Parade. Red is not always a favorite for me, but I do like this Poppy! Always so cheerful! Large dots are all full strength. Small ones are a mix, some full, some off once and maybe twice. Splatters in Smoky Slate. Base and accent layer are Poppy Parade. Retired Poppy Parade striped ribbon.

March, St. Patrick's Day. Green. Not a holiday we celebrate at all, maybe we do corned beef and cabbage but that is it! But I do like the challenge of using green. I went back to an old favorite here, retired color Lemon Lime Twist. Love it! Large circles in Lemon Lime, smaller in Smoky Slate. Splatters over all in Smoky Slate, some full strength, some off once or twice. Retired Lemon Lime ribbon.

April. Generally Easter, so pastel colors come to mind with Easter Eggs. I grabbed my Purple Posy because Purple. Remember this color ink was discontinued because of issues. I'm starting to see variance. It was OK at first, but the ink is definitely more blue now than the cardstock. This is more light than I would have liked too, but I didn't want to start over. All circles stamped in Purple Posy, some splatters with Smoky Slate. White weave ribbon for accent.

May. Things are coming back to life and generally the first flowers I see around here are roses that are bright pink. So I grabbed the In Color Magenta Madness. Not sure I've used it before, but I like it! All dots are full strength Magenta and I added some butterflies to the largest circle. A few light dots in Smoky Slate. Magenta Madness ribbon for accent.

June. This might be my favorite! Summer, Flag Day, Fathers Day. Probably several options there for other colors, but one of my boys was born on Flag Day so Red, White and Blue is my choice here. I did opt for a lighter blue though and I like it. Balmy Blue, Poppy Parade and Whisper White cardstock for the white.  Larger circles in Balmy Blue, smaller for accent in Poppy Parade. No splatters this time for a very clean look! That accent on the 15th will be our 30th Anniversary, wow!! 💜

Thank you for stopping by today! I will have a news update post tomorrow and hopefully the rest of the calendar year soon!

Reminder: my Host Code for December closes tomorrow at 3 pm!

Oval Beautiful

Hey all, Happy Monday. Dreary, windy and precip on the way here! ick :) Staying in and working around the house today - goal to get back to the stamp room later, after chores!

I did a little stamping yesterday. The room is a disaster and I need to spend time cleaning and sorting, but...I chose instead to pick up Life is Beautiful which was already on the desk and mounted on blocks. I pulled up Pinterest and did a quick search and found inspiration. Here are two versions of what I tried.

The card I saw was very different colored but I was inspired to try a blue/green combo so I could use the Blue Gems, specifically the blue/green ones, not the blue ones.

I didn't read the suggested colors (Night of Navy, Balmy Blue) and instead grabbed Pear Pizzazz, Mossy Meadow and Pretty Peacock.

First, I cut an oval (the largest non scalloped) with the Layering Oval dies. I held that over my Very Vanilla background and sponged on Pear Pizzazz in the center, Pretty Peacock at the top and Mossy Meadow on the bottom. The "heaviness" of your hand will lead to very different results here. Also how much blending you do. Over the oval I stamped the tree trunk in Cinnamon Cider. Both trees have dots in Pear Pizzazz. The hello one then has leaves in Mossy Meadow and Pretty Peacock full strength, and some off once in Pretty Peacock. The Thinking of You I skipped the Mossy Meadow and just did the Pretty Peacock. More leaves at the bottom and a saying in Cinnamon Cider. Gems added amongst the leaves.

A good start and first attempt. Many possibilities with layout and different colors! Thanks for stopping by today!! Contact me if any questions!

Life is Beautiful!

Happy Thursday all! Looks foggy damp and dreary outside and it's still very dark at 7:30 am. Fall is fast becoming Winter! Here is the second card I created Tuesday night. Great color combo from my friends over at The Color Throwdown

And their color challenge. Kraft, Cream and Cranberry.

Stampin' Up! Colors used are Crumb Cake, Merry Merlot and Very Vanilla. But I used a Shimmery Vanilla (non SU!) so it is very soft and pretty! Accent layer of Merry Merlot and card base of Crumb Cake. Tree was stamped on the Vanilla with Crumb Cake. I did the shadow at the bottom and dots on the tree with Crumb Cake stamped off once so it's very light. I then went over the tree again with the sparkle image in Merry Merlot. Saying in Merlot on a separate piece of Vanilla accented by Merry Merlot attached with dimensionals over gold edged Vanilla ribbon. Gold gems for accent on the tree and under the saying.

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope to be back soon :) Shopping link and product list below!

Hello Fall!

Hey all, hope you are all doing well! Busy here still, but hopefully slowing down with the cold weather that is coming soon! Took myself to the stamp room tonight - it's been far too long! Wasn't really intending to create anything but I came out with two cards in a short time :) Yeah me!!

Here is the first, inspired by the Maple trees in my front yard. They've been slow to turn, but honestly have so many colors right now! All the way from green to bright red and many in between!

Life is Beautiful! So much inspiration everywhere right now with the Fall colors!! I tried to space out the colors on these leaves and not muddy the colors. Tree is Cinnamon Cider. I did a "background" with the dots image in Crumb Cake, and then did leaves in Bumble Bee, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Real Red. Hello in Real Red and the birdhouse in Cinnamon Cider. Background cardstock is a Shimmery Vanilla, accent of Cinnamon Cider and base of Bumble Bee. Ribbon also in Bumble Bee. Many different looks from one stamp set!! This was my first use of the leaves and I like how it came out!

Thanks for stopping by today! Product details below. Back soon, another Life is Beautiful card coming up for of my favorite color challenges :)

Hello Beautiful!

Howdy all! Happy Saturday and Happy World Card Making Day! Hope you find time today to create! Me, probably not as we have football. But I do have a card to share so that is a start!

I found an inspiring color challenge recently and made another Life is Beautiful card with it. Here is the card

And the color challenge. It was over at CAS Colors and Sketches earlier in September.

Pretty simple! Card base is Cherry Cobler, accent layer is Cinnamon Cider. Background is Very Vanilla. Tree is Cinnamon, lots of leaves in Mango Melody, over stamped leaves in Cherry. Birdhouse in Cinnamon and hello in Cherry. Gold gem accents. Easy peasy!

Thanks for stopping by today! Contact me if you have any questions! Note, product detail links again missing. Since the change in our websites I haven't had time to figure out a new way to do that. My old links aren't good anymore so I have lots of clean up to do! Working on it but will take quite a while! For now, item numbers are listed below the shopping link. Plaid Leaves!

Morning all! Happy Fall! I made it to the stamp room yesterday! Yeah me!! Broke out a new bundle (set and dies) and used my new Stampin' Cut and Emboss machine. So far, so good :) Oh, and some DSP - one that is on special!!

Here is the first card.

I've seen similar online and had this in mind when I ordered the Love of Leaves Bundle (155195 $47.50). The Plaid Tidings 6x6 stack (153527) is a perfect match! Colors here are Cajun Craze, Pretty Peacock and Whisper White. The DSP has those plus a few more! I die cut the Whisper White top layer with the largest Rectangle from the Stitched Rectangles Die set (151820 $35) and then cut a second time with the large leaf near the center. I attached a slightly smaller piece of the DSP to the back of the Whisper White and layered the card together. Saying in Cajun Craze lower left with a few Blue Gems (153547 $8).

And, because I knew a different piece of DSP would completely change the card I made another!

Melon Mambo and Mango Melody with Whisper White and Gold gems. Love them both, but this one pops! Didn't expect to like it so much!

Beautiful!

Hey, all! Finally made it to the stamp room... So Sorry for the absence! Too many things going on this time of year! Garden out of control, State Fair, boys in and out, and football season has started! Hopefully past the worst and I can find time to stamp now, at least occasionally?

Here is a creation I came up with tonight. I'm a total sucker for these tree sets, we've had several and I've owned them all! Especially love Fall colors with them! I guess if it works to get me back in the stamp room...Here is my card

Inspired by this Color Challenge at The Color Throwdown. #colorthrowdown #CTD610

I missed being able to link to their challenge, but that's OK. I made it back to the stamp room and that is what matters at this point! Normally their challenges name the colors, but this one didn't. A little variance in looking through the blogs of the team, so I'm going with: Red (Brick Red), Yellow/Orange, Cream and Brown.

In Stampin' Up! colors that I used we have Merry Merlot, BumbleBee, Very Vanilla, and Early Espresso.

The card base is BumbleBee, a new In Color. Accent layer of Early Espresso and a background of Very Vanilla. Note: In Real Life this care is not near as off square as it looks in the scan. No idea what is up with that? I'm out of practice scanning, and with the new computer something seems off! I'll work on that!!

Back to the card. Stamp set is Life is Beautiful from the Holiday Mini. I stamped the tree in Espresso and off once in Espresso for the "dirt" under the tree. Leaves(dots) in Sahara Sand, BumbleBee and Merry Merlot. I tried it with just BumbleBee and Merlot but it seemed thin so I added Sahara, much better! Ribbon in BumbleBee Gingham, saying on BumbleBee in Espresso and Gilded Gems for accent in the tree.

Thanks for stopping by today! Product details not listed, but email me if questions!!

Tasteful Touches

Hey, all! I finally made it to the stamp room AND created something! Yeah! Always feels good to have something work. Took a few tries, but that's OK! As usual when I'm out of practice I browsed through some of my favorite challenges and the color combo at Color Throwdown caught my eye. Especially after I read the colors :) #ctd604 #colorthrowdown Here is my card

and their graphic

It looks like brown, black and white but the verbal says Terracotta so... I had to reach for our In Color Terra-Cotta Tile! I haven't used it often but I like it when I do. It works great for Fall color combos so keep it in mind as we head into Fall! Also my first use of the Tasteful Touches set that is new in the annual catalog. Love all the cards I've seen with it and like how this came out. I did a background with the squares image alternating black and Terra-Cotta and stamping most off once. The background is Shimmery White which I textured with the Subtle 3D folder. Sometimes just a touch of texture is the perfect step up. I sponged the edge with Terra-Cotta ink and attached to an accent layer of Basic Black. The flower was stamped on a separate piece of Shimmery White and colored with a sponge dauber and Terra-Cotta ink. I went over it with my Wink of Stella glitter brush and attached to the background with Stampin' Dimensionals. I knotted a Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon between the saying and background stamping and attached to a Terra-Cotta card base.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope to be back soon. It is gorgeous outside though so a few weeds are calling my name. I'm putting a link to my store below but skipping the product links for now as our base website is changing on Tuesday. If you have questions, email me. I will try to come back Tuesday or Wednesday and add products once I know what the new links will look like. Happy weekend all!

Sending Sunshine - June Paper Pumpkin

Hey all, hope you're having a GREAT weekend. Beautiful morning today!!

I finally made it to the stamp room last night, but late and after a long day. I reached for the June Paper Pumpkin because anything else was just too much of a challenge! I've seen snippets of this online and knew it would be fun. Quick and easy, bright and cheery!

Backstory, if you don't follow SU! or the CEO Sarah online. She started a #sharesunshine campaign a few months back and it led to a special Paper Pumpkin. She shared that she's done Boxes of Sunshine to send or give to people. Fill a box (or bag) full of fun yellow things! There's also been a card campaign associated with this during the pandemic. Here is the box that arrived in June!

And, that is not a great picture. Much more yellow and bright in real life!  Next, inside the box - so bright and cheery!

A closer look at the stamp set, and then the kit.

Notice in the kit picture, the box is meant to be resent (or given) as a Box of Sunshine. Included label and extra die cuts! These cards were fun and perfect way to end my day. I almost didn't start them because it was getting late but I'm glad I did. Next mission, to mail them!!

There are two of each card and lots of extra pieces. The envelopes have some gold accents and would be super cute with a little more stamping. I do hope to get these mailed out this week, I've been slacking on that. I think I'm on a roll getting the kits done - don't think I've added any to the "pile" of orange boxes lately :) Now just need to get some cards rolling out the door!

Thanks for stopping by today. I've done a few things outside, have a few bills to pay then hoping to spend the afternoon in the stamp room. Even have leftovers for dinner!

Remember also that you can prepay for these *and* earn Bonus Days $$ for the 3, 6 or 12 month during July!

One month Prepaid $21 Item 137858
3-Month Prepaid $63 Item 137859

Posy Sunflower

Hey all! My first Celebrate Sunflower card! Sorry for my absence! Not enough hours in any of my days! Work, garden, lawn, taxes etc! I made time in the stamp room this weekend and made this set a priority. I have four images colored, here is the first complete card. Surprised I started with purple? :)

I started with the flower and my Stampin' Blends. I grabbed Purple Posy, then realized I could add Highland Heather as well. When I Blend, I always do the light color first, then add accents with the dark color and go back over with the light. I went all around the flower with Purple Posy. Then repeated the process with Heather. Trying to keep the Heather just to areas that should be shadowed, or near center areas. The center is Smoky Slate, same process! I cut the flower with the coordinating die, Sunflowers. There are several options here, but I used the "outline" die for the large sunflower. To make the card, I grabbed a Purple Posy base, Highland Heather accent and Vanilla background that I textured with the Tasteful Textile 3D folder. Love!! I cut leaves and stems, also from the Sunflowers die set from Soft Seafoam. Oh, I stamped the saying on the background with Highland Heather *BEORE* embossing. I put dimensionals on the back of the flower, added leaves and stems, catching the dimensionals if I could, adding glue dots if need be. Also added some Metallic thread which appears to be retired - sorry! It worked great though :) A few rhinestone accents are the final accent for this card.

Thank you for stopping by today! Let me know if you have any questions! Hopefully back soon, but never know! Holiday weekend on deck and son #1 joining us - woohoo!

May Paper Pumpkin - A Kit In Color

Howdy all! Here is the detail post for the May Paper Pumpkin, A Kit In Color. I reached for it Tuesday night when I finally made it to the stamp room. The June kit, Share Sunshine is also here, hopefully soon! These kits are a great way to get back in stamping mode when it's been awhile! Love this one!

The box, not the usual color!

And not the usual inside either!

The stamp set.

This kit features most of the new In Colors, Bumblebee, Just Jade, Magenta Madness and Misty Moonlight along with Pumpkin Pie and Purple Posy.

Kit contents. This kit makes cards, 2 of the 3 are full size, one is slightly smaller. 4 of each design.

I actually used the stamp spot that came with this kit! Generally I have the ink pad so I use that, but this is a new In Color that I don't have yet. Yes, miracle I know. They are on the way :) I was just slow to place my order!

One note, then the cards. This instructions said to cut 14" of thread for the bow on each card. I did, and still have thread left. But realized 14" is a lot of thread for a small bow. I cut it in half so I have a double bow for each.

Each kit is different, but there are generally more supplies than you need. An each kit can be done in many different ways. No one says you can only do it the way of the instructions! I generally do, but many don't!!

Finished cards.

Aren't they cute? They will be so fun to mail. The top one is the slightly smaller one, the other two are regular size. Coordinating envelopes too!!

Thanks for stopping by today. Sign up here by July 10th to receive the next Paper Pumpkin - Summer Nights! Special Add On available July 1. Contact me if questions!!
