ColorLab12

Thursday again! Grab your Lab Coat-here we go with another ColorLab Color Challenge!!! I had fun making this one the other night, stretching my creativity to get something to work. Here is the inspiration with the colors:

Rich Razzleberry, Basic Black & Pumpkin Pie!!

I had to stretch my creativity because I don't have any of the fun new Halloween sets and these colors say Halloween to me. Actually, I think I only have 2 Halloween sets period! For some reason I didn't order any this year. Oh, well! I made do and really like how this one came out. While studying my catalog and debating between this set, Autumn Harvest, and the other set I have, Batty for You, I decided I liked the layout of the sample card with the Autumn Harvest set (page 27) and decided to run with that.  

Card base is Rich Razzleberry and the front was textured in the Big Shot with the Finial Press embossing folder, then spritzed with Basic Black & Rich Razzleberry. I stamped the two pumpkins and 3 leaves in Basic Black on Naturals Ivory, colored and cut them out. The leaves were spritzed with a little bit of Basic Black.  Behind the image is a piece of Naturals Ivory that was spritzed with all 3 colors. I attached the pumpkins and leaves with dimensionals. Next I added the saying at the top also with dimensionals, Happy Halloween from All Holidays. The words were stamped in Pumpkin Pie on Naturals Ivory, spritzed (of course!!) with Razzleberry, and layered on a Modern Label of Rich Razzleberry.  After everything was on the Ivory panel, I tore it across the top above the saying and images and sponged the torn edge with Pumpkin Pie. Then I layered it onto a piece of Basic Black, the same width but left an accent strip at the bottom. Across the top I tore the Black and tried to match the "pattern" to the Naturals Ivory. At the very bottom of the Basic Black is a strip of Pumpkin Pie showing, punched with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch. I attached this decorated panel to the card front, and added a Mini Library Clip with a piece of 1/8" Black Taffeta knotted around.

My explanation seems complicated, but it wasn't to make.  It went together very well and didn't take a very long time!  Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll drop by the ColorLab and play along!!

Just Believe Friends

Made some creative time tonight to play along with the Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch.  It has been awhile since I did their sketch even though I always want too!  Here is the sketch

And here is what I came up with!

Love this DSP and the colors so that was my starting point! Elegant Soiree DSP featuring Soft Suede, Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake & Basic Gray.  My card base is Soft Suede, background Baja DSP print.  Strip of the graphic/dotted Vanilla print on a Crumb Cake strip that I used the Scallop Trim Border punch on. Very Vanilla Satin ribbon around the center, knotted on the right side.  Branch image in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla with a Baja 'friends' top left.  A few pearls on the lower right corner of the main image and on the left side under the ribbon (hard to see in the scan). The hardest part of this one was picking the stamp to use for the main image!

World Card Making Day Open Houses

It's that time again, are you ready??? I'm making plans for the annual World Card Making Day Open Houses!!

And yes, I know the actual World Card Making Day is October 2. Our High School band marches in a big parade that day, so my events are two weeks later. Details following, please read all the way through as I have changed a few things from last time.

Autumn Harvest Hello Friend

Hello Friends! I made another Fall card last night and decided it was time to use a set other than the leaves! I saw this one in my stack the other day and didn't use it, but went right back to it tonight for the Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch that I was playing along with. This was one of those that took longer than it should have to put together, but I was watching TV and not focusing! Here is what I came up with!

Card base is Early Espresso. Background layer is Crumb Cake that I first put through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Folder. After texturing, I sponged the edges with Pumpkin Pie and Spritzed it with Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso & Crumb Cake. The images were stamped on Naturals Ivory in Early Espresso, then colored with a Blender Pen and Classic Ink. Pumpkins are Pumpkin Pie, the leaves Early Espresso & the gourd (or squash?) is Crumb Cake. I did add a little Pumpkin Pie marker as well on the pumpkins. I also Spritzed this layer, with Crumb Cake & Early Espresso, mostly around the edges. This is layered onto Pumpkin Pie. I was looking for something different for the saying, so I grabbed the Fundamental Phrases set and the Stamp-a-ma-jig and put Hello Friend together on the Small Oval punch. The Small Oval is layered on a Large Espresso Oval and attached with dimensionals over a 1/8" Taffeta ribbon in Early Espresso.  The 1-1/4" Espresso Striped Grosgrain was attached to the Crumb Cake, behind the Pumpkin layer.

Another 3D Ornament

The last card from Club last weekend was this one, using the same layout as my swap card previously posted. I changed the DSP for this one and love how it came out!  

This card uses one of the prints from the Deck the Halls DSP pack. Crumb Cake with Always Artichoke & Cherry Cobbler. Card base is Always Artichoke. Scallop Square cut with the Scallop Square Duo Die.  Inset square of Very Vanilla. Scallop border punched on Cherry Cobbler Cardstock and attached near the bottom. Always Artichoke Seam Binding Ribbon across it, attached to Sticky Strip.  

A view more from the side so you can see the dimension the ornament has. Remember that is 3 punched ornaments together to give that effect. Poppy Cottage Garden

Two challenges in one card tonight, needed as much direction as possible! Long couple days with not feeling 100%, but needed some creative time tonight. This card is for the Paper Players sketch challenge and the Color Q color challenge of the week. Here is what I came up with:

Card base is Poppy Parade, background is Peach Parfait DSP. The set used is Cottage Garden. Scallop Circles in Poppy Parade, with 1-3/8" color punches & 1-1/4 white circle punches under a flower. I mixed up the three colors, Old Olive, So Saffron & Peach Parfait between the flowers & background circles. In the center of each flower is a Glimmer Brad in Poppy Parade from the Holiday Mini. My first use of them and how fun are they!!! The saying was stamped in Poppy on Whisper White. Over the saying I added some flowers in So Saffron & Peach Parfait after stamping them off once to lessen their intensity. The saying was punched with the Scallop Oval punch and layered on the Punch Window Scallop Oval in Old Olive. A Poppy Parade ribbon is behind the oval and between two of the scallop circles.  Love how these colors go together!

ColorLab11

It's Thursday....Got your Labcoat???  Time to see what we can cook up in the ColorLab!! Here is the inspiration for the week

and here is what I came up with!

Not sure if this is the best set for the job, but I had a new set, Aviary, that NEEDED ink!!!  

Card base is Early Espresso, background is Peach Parfait DSP in a dot pattern. The Top Note was cut from Sahara Sand. The cages were stamped in Early Espresso, birds in Peach Parfait and Garden Green. The first thing I did with the set, after mounting it, was to make Stamp-a-ma-jig templates with Vellum cardstock. I got the wood mounted set, so adding those to my stamp box guarantees stress free stamping each time I pull the set out!! The background DSP was sponged with Peach Parfait, the Top Note with Garden Green. Brads in Early Espresso were added at the 3 top points of the Top Note, and the saying from Teeny Tiny Wishes was stamped in Early Espresso on Sahara Sand, punched with the Small Oval, then sponged with Garden Green. I added a bird in Peach Parfait then layered in onto a Large Oval of Early Espresso .
