Sketch Frenzy Friday 031513

Happy Friday all! Supposed to be a nice Spring Day here-yeah!! Still some mud to deal with after snow last weekend, but sunshine is AWESOME!!!

Friday means another round of Sketch Frenzy Friday!! Here is my creation of the week

based on this sketch, also by me!

If either look familiar, it's because I based the sketch on a card I did at Club last month. You can see it here. We've done other similar ones in the past too with the Blossom Punch.

My card base is Melon Mambo. A DSP layer of Daffodil Delight Polka Dot parade sits behind the Whisper White background. On the right side, center, I cut the largest flower with the Secret Garden framelit through just the Whisper White. I then stamped the saying in the lower left corner before stamping flowers all around in Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise. I stamped two more flowers on a separate piece of Whisper White and cut with their coordinating framelit. The Melon Mambo one was attached in the center of the cut out flower, the Turquoise one off to the side. In the center of each is a Rhinestone. The ribbon is Melon Mambo Scallop Dots.

That's it for me today! Back to getting ready for Open Houses this weekend! Make sure you stop over at the main SFF Blog to see what the rest of the team created, and to play along!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 021513

Happy Friday all!! Hope you've had a good week with great plans for the weekend. I have to stamp so it has to be good, right??

Let me first start with an apology for last week, no post, no creation! Long week here! Our Internet service went down during the Super Bowl-and didn't come back! I talked to a tech on Monday and thought we had a "fix" figured out, but nope-didn't work! So, the first appointment we could get for service was Friday. Luckily I had lots of other things to keep me busy-like my oldest son turning 18 and a BIG robotics tournament. Tammy stepped in and did the SFF post, and I couldn't even find time to put up the sketch! So sorry! But, I'm back now with all new hardware so we should be good for quite a few more years!! We've had this service for 7-1/2 years or so and this was the first problem!!

OK, on to the reason you're here!! The weekly Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge! It was a challenge to me, but mostly because I'm out of practice!!

Here is my creation

based on this sketch by Robbie Rubala.

This could have been more creative, but it wasn't happening tonight!! I hope to get more into stamping very soon!! Club this weekend should help!!

Card base is Melon Mambo, with a Daffodil Delight accent layer behind a Whisper White background. I textured the Whisper White with the Cloudy Day Embossing Folder. On the left is a striped accent piece from the Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP pack. The pinwheel at the top is also from that pack of DSP. Really like that paper :)  Bottom right is the saying "Happy Day to You". That should cheer anyone up right?? Final accent, a Melon Mambo Striped Organdy ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by today!! Make sure you stop over at the main Sketch Frenzy Friday blog to see the creations from the rest of the team, AND to play along!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 020113

Happy Friday all! Wow, another week gone already! Today is February-I'm sure not ready for that!! Hope you had a GREAT week!

Friday means another round of Sketch Frenzy Friday! Here is my creation

based on this sketch by Maria Vanderform

My card base is Pacific Point with a background of DSP from the Sunshine & Sprinkles pack in the Spring Mini. The top layer is Daffodil Delight that was textured with the Fancy Fan Folder. In the center I cut a flower from the Floral Framelits set. I attached  Melon Mambo ribbon at two of the sides. I cut the ends of each at an angle and used a ruler to try and line it up. I stamped a Pacific Point flower using the Mixed Bunch set and punched it with the coordinating Blossom Punch. In the center is the saying "here's to you" from Friendly Phrases. It was stamped in Melon Mambo on Very Vanilla and punched with the 1-1/4 Scallop Circle Punch. I sponged the edges of that with Daffodil Delight. In the center, over the "o" is a Daffodil Delight small flower button with Lucky Limeade Baker's Twine knotted in the center. The flower was attached to the background with dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by today! Make sure you stop over at the main SFF blog to see what the rest of the team created, and to play along with us!!

Club Swallowtail

Finally-a Club card from last weekend!! Case'd from my friend & fellow SFF team member Tammy Fite!!

I wanted a bright, fun color so I chose Cameo Coral. The card base is Cameo Coral, the accent layers Basic Gray, background Naturals Ivory. We did this just like the triple time technique. We attached the two layers of Naturals Ivory together, inked up the butterfly, and stamped both together. Angle the butterfly, or stamp it straight, doesn't really matter-t doesn't fit all the way on the card front and they all look fine! After stamping, take the layers apart, attach to the Basic Gray accent layers. Attach all the layers and add a saying in the center. I chose "oh happy day" from Friendly Phrases.

Quick and easy! This stamp has lots of potential!! Hope I can find time soon to play with it more!! Thanks for stopping by today-come back soon :)

Sketch Frenzy Friday 122112

Happy Friday all! Hope your shopping is all done and you are ready for the Holiday!! It is snowing and blowing here right now (Wed eve) and we just got word there isn't school tomorrow. I have two happy boys-they should be studying for finals!

Friday means another round of Sketch Frenzy Friday! Since it's "frightful" outside, I went with something other than snowflakes this time around!! Butterflies are about as far from snowflakes as you can get right?? Here is my creation

based on this sketch by Robbie Rubala.

Once I decided on the butterflies from Papillion Potpourri, I went to the color wheel for some happy colors. I settled on Wild Wasabi, Rose Red & So Saffron. The card base is Wasabi with an accent layer of Rose Red behind a background of So Saffron dotted DSP. I stamped the butterflies on Whisper White, 2 in Rose Red, 1 in Wasabi, and punched with the coordinating butterfly punch. They are attached with a small piece of dimensional under their body. The words from Friendly Phrases were stamped in the bottom right corner of the DSP in Wild Wasabi. Wild Wasabi ribbon provides the two stripes on the left side. Sorry they are crooked-I didn't secure them in the middle. I will when I go back to the stamp room!! Lights were flickering so I figured I better get this done!!

Make sure you stop over at the main SFF blog to see the creations of the rest of the team. AND, to play along with us!! Thanks for stopping by today!! Merry Christmas!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 110212

Happy Friday all! Hope you've had a good week and have a GREAT weekend on tap :) Looks to be somewhat busy here, but that's OK! Excited to see the first Robotics team activity on Saturday, even if I have to be up WAYYYY to early!!

OK, on to the reason you are here!! Friday means another Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge!! Here is what I created

based on this sketch by Patrice.

I'm stuck on Fall leaves so I grabbed Wonderfall! Clinging to Fall really because I'm not ready for Winter but knowing it can happen at any time!!

My card base is Early Espresso with an accent layer of More Mustard behind the DSP print of More Mustard from the Orchard Harvest pack. I textured the background print in the Square Lattice embossing folder. The accent stripe is also from the Orchard Harvest pack and is mounted on Early Espresso. The leaves were cut from Very Vanilla using the Autumn Accents die and I stamped after cutting. Cajun Craze for the Maple leaf, More Mustard for the small leaf, and Early Espresso for the acorn. I decided to use the medium sized leaf for my saying. The leaf was stamped with Lucky Limeade, then I added the saying from Friendly Phrases in Early Espresso. All the leaves and the acorn were attached with dimensionals.

Thanks for stopping by today! Make sure to stop over at the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog to see the other members creations and to play along!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 102612

Happy Friday all! Long week but I think I'm just about recovered from all the activity I had last weekend :) I always enjoy the time with my stampers but the work of it just about wipes me out!! Looking forward to a little more relaxing time this weekend!!

Here is my Sketch Frenzy Friday creation of the week!

based on this sketch by Tammy Fite.

My card base is Rich Razzleberry with an accent layer of Lucky Limeade behind the background of Whisper White. While running through ideas in my mind, I hit on this DSP print. It's from the Summer Smooches pack and I've always wondered what it would work good with. I decided it would be perfect for a couple of the "banners" on this sketch. I'm terrible at these by the way-if anyone has a great tip for cutting the corner ends of these straight, please let me know! I know I can't do it free hand, so I always reach for a square punch. But they never seem to come out quite right!!

I changed up the sketch a little again. I'm becoming quite the rebel aren't I? I'm usually one for keeping it as is!! My center banner isn't banner cut at all, I left both ends straight so I could fit more flowers on. I stamped the flowers/leaves from Bright Blossoms. Some I cut out, some I stamped direct. I added a couple Daffodil Delight brads and one Daffodil Delight button with some Whisper White Bakers Twine in the center. The saying is from Friendly Phrases.

The white background may be a little too white, but I didn't give myself any extra time to try something else! Probably should have made my "banner" layers just a tad wider! Oh well, it isn't terrible!

Happy Friday all! Hope you have a GREAT weekend on tap and you find some stamping time! Make sure you stop over at the Sketch Frenzy Friday blog to check out the creations of the other Design Team Members. AND, play along with us!!!

Open House Papillion Potpourri

Card three from the weekend. Again, inspired by something I saw online! Love that SU! Stampers are SOOOO willing to share their creations to inspire everyone!! This one was inspired by Mary Jo Price-Williams at TechnoStamper. You can see her version HERE. She posted this as her Son was getting out of school (June 20). Here, on July 17, my Boys are on the down hill back to school-starting August 13. They don't like to hear that though!! ;)

Anyway, here is my card!!

Just a little different than Mary Jo's. My card base is Rich Razzleberry with a Basic Gray accent layer behind the Whisper White background. I chose to use the Chevron Embossing Folder to emboss the top portion of the card. The saying is from Friendly Phrases. My customers had their choice of the 3 butterflies that fit the new punch. I curled the butterfly slightly using the Piercing Tool, attached him with a partial dimensional in the center, then added 3 small rhinestones to the body. Quick, easy, but a GREAT card! Thanks Mary Jo for the inspiration!!

Serene Silhouettes Freshly Made

I snuck in a little play time tonight, even though I should have been working on stuff for my Open Houses this weekend. I will probably be sorry later, but I couldn't pass up this sketch at Freshly Made Sketches by my friend Jen Timko.

Here is the card I made

and here is the sketch. Clean and simple-my favorite kind!!

I went with a color scheme of Early Espresso and Regal Rose. I used the coordinating DSP from the Color Collection packs for the background prints. Love these packs and the fact that I have DSP in several prints to choose from, in every color!! I inked the image from Serene Silhouettes with the Regal Rose and Early Espresso markers and stamped on Whisper White. The saying is from Friendly Phrases. Final accent, an Antique Brad.

Thanks for stopping by today!! This will probably be it for me for the week-lots of cutting and prep work ahead for me this week. And, my oldest son is leaving for Europe with a school group on Tuesday. Yikes!!

Happy Day Betsy's Blossom

More play time tonight as I work to keep the creativity flowing!! Need to come up with four ideas for Open House creations very soon! Tonight, I combined the SUO Challenge "For the Birds" challenge with the sketch from  Freshly Made Sketches. Here is the sketch

And, the card I came up with.

The card base is Rich Razzleberry, with a Daffodil Deligh accent layer behind a Floral Distric DSP background. I opted to go with a regular size card even though the sketch appears more square. "Regular" size just works better with my display baskets and such :)

On Whisper White, I using the Betsy's Blossom stamp set, I stamped the large flower in Rich Razzleberry, the bird in Daffodil Delight, and two leaves in Baja Breeze. I cut those out and layered together. The bird is attached over the leaves with dimensionals, and the entire element is attached to the background with dimensionals.

I really miss the Movers & Shapers dies when it comes to adding the sayings. I would have used the punch and coordinating die, but since that retired, I just layered the scallop like we do the Decorative label punch, punch two and cut one in half vertically, and one horizontally and layer behind the punch. Worked OK. Two Daffodil buttons are the final accent.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 051812

Happy Friday all! The start of summer here as the boys are officially out of school. Looking forward to our first summer without baseball in 12 years!! What will we do?? Trust me, we'll stay plenty busy!!

As you know, Friday means another Sketch Frenzy Friday challenge and mini tour. Here is my card

based on this sketch by Patrice Herrera.

I decided tonight it was time to break in to the new stamps and goodies! I grabbed a new set, Betsy's Blossoms, and two new In Colors, Raspberry Ripple and Summer Starfruit. The card base is Basic Gray with an accent layer of Raspberry Ripple behind the Whisper White background. On that background, I stamped the large flower in Summer Starfruit, and the small flower trio in Raspberry Ripple. The birds were stamped in Raspberry Ripple on Whisper White and cut out. I attached them with dimensionals to a Basic Gray on Raspberry Ripple rectangle. The saying is from Friendly Phrases and was stamped in Basic Gray over the background flower. Lastly, I added small rhinestones to the eyes.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 050412

Happy Friday all! Ready for some weekend time??? First, make sure you stop over at Sketch Frenzy Friday and play along with the challenge of the week!! Make the rounds of the tour for inspiration!! Here is my card

based on this sketch by Kim Innis

Card base is Riding Hood Red, with a background of Pear Pizzazz and Baja Breeze. The DSP is from the Twitterpated pack. I used some Twitterpated fabric and made the flower element using the Fun Flowers die. I cut two of each size flower, from the 3 different prints in the fabric set. I "roughed them up" a bit and attached them together with a Pear Pizzazz Glimmer Brad. Across the center is scrunched Pear Pizzazz Seam binding. The saying is from Friendly Phases. Not much stamping tonight! My brain was too tired for much :) Note: Many items are still available from the Occasions Mini, including the Twitterpated fabric and DSP. Contact me if you need details!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 042012

Happy Friday all! Hope you had a good week! Very busy here again, but I guess that's just the new normal!!

As you know, Friday means another challenge at Sketch Frenzy Friday and a mini hop. Here is my card

based on this sketch by Deb Currier.

Are you seeing a pattern with my last few creations??!!?? Haven't had time to clean my room, and the Summer Smooches DSP and Bright Blossoms set are out so I just keep using them! I do like the bright colors of them too for this time of year!!

Card base is Island Indigo with a background accent of Daffodil Delight behind the Summer Smooch print. The accent layers are also Summer Smooch prints layered onto card stock. The saying is from Friendly Phrases and was stamped in Island Indigo on the Daffodil print DSP. The flower is from Bright Blossoms. I inked the stem with Lucky Limeade and the small circles with Daffodil. The Tangerine Tango circle flower is a separate stamp I added at the top. I also colored in the center circle with the Daffodil Delight marker. Final accent is a Summer Smooch Fabric Brad beside the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by today! If you haven't seen the Retirement list for stamps yet make sure you check out my last post!! Lots of great stamps on that list-get them NOW! while you can!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 031612

Happy Friday all! It's been a super busy week, with the worst (best) part yet to come!! My Boys are competing in the VEX National Robotics tournament this weekend-Good Luck Crete!!

OK, on to the reason you're here!! Sketch Frenzy Friday! A little different look for me, but I like how it came out! Especially since it's late and I'm running very low on brain power!! Here is my card

based on this sketch by Sharon Wheet.

I combined the Twitterpated DSP and the Bordering on Romance set. The colors in the stripe print caught my eye and I knew the stripe would be a great contrast for a background. Just so happens too I had a new coordinating roll of Riding Hood Red pleated ribbon that is perfect across the center!! I stamped the images on Whisper White in Basic Gray and colored with Riding Hood Red, Baja Blue and Pear Pizzazz markers. The card base is Basic Gray with a Riding Hood Red accent layer. One flower panel is backed by Pear Pizzazz, the other Baja Breeze. The saying from Friendly Phrases was stamped in Basic Gray on Whisper White, punched with the 1-1/4" circle punch and layered onto a 1-3/8" Basic Gray circle!

It went together fairly well, but I'm still up too late! Thanks for stopping by today! Continue on our tour by clicking HERE to see what Kim has created this week! We hope you'll stop by the main SFF blog and play along!!

Concord Peach Mixed Bunch

Card three from the weekend! While surfing for inspiration late Saturday night, I found several cards similar to this and decided to take the idea and run with it!!

The basic idea starts with the Peach Parfait dotted flower. It is actually punched out of the top layer, Whisper White, and the Peach you see is the DSP layered below. Cool isn't it!!?? We added the center of the Peach flower by stamping the 3/4" circle image in Concord Crush and punching out. In the center is a brad from the Circle Fire Rhinestone Brad set. The Concord flower was stamped on a separate piece of Whisper White. We punched it out, added a DSP center, and a brad in the center. Both the Concord flower and the center of the Peach flower were attached with dimensionals. The two Peach outline flowers were stamped in Peach Parfait directly on the Whisper White. The bling in the center are the fabulous Rhinestone Jewels. The saying is from Friendly Phrases. The DSP, by the way, is from the 2010-2012 In Color Patterns stack. And, I'm sure you know what I'm going to say next!! These two colors are retiring with the catalog in May! STOCK UP NOW!!!!

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you're having a fabulous week!!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 030212

Happy Friday all! Hope your week has been good and you have great plans for the weekend.  A road trip home for me on the agenda-excited to see Family!!

As you know Friday means another Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch challenge and mini tour. The sketch this week was brought to us by Patrice Herrera. Here is what I came up with.

based on this sketch by Patrice.

I really like the end result, but I have to admit I wasn't sure at first!! Maybe it's just our various products go together SO WELL!! The color is Calypso Coral. Base of Chocolate Chip with a card stock accent behind the DSP print in Calypso Coral. I stamped the flower from Mixed Bunch in Calypso on Naturals Ivory card stock and punched it with the coordinating Blossom punch. In the center is a Champagne Glimmer Brad. The saying is from Friendly Phrases.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 021712

Happy Friday all! Hope your week has been good and you have fun plans for the weekend. Robotics tournament here-with my two boys running two different Bots. Should be interesting!! The tournaments are always enjoyable though, so win or lose it will be a good day!!

On to the reason you're here: Sketch Frenzy Friday!! A fun sketch this week!! Here is what I came up with

based on this sketch by Kim Innis.

I thought of these little "stamps" the first time I saw this sketch so that is what I reached for tonight. This set is Fresh Vintage, a FREE set during Sale-A-Bration!! My card base is Lucky Limeade with a Baja Breeze accent layer behind the DSP print background. The DSP is from the Everyday Enchantment pack-another FREE SAB item!! I attached two strips of the Lucky Limeade 1/8" Organdy Ribbon. You guessed it, another FREE SAB item. And, actually, hostesses with a workshop total of $400 get ALL THREE of these items FREE :)  LOVE this time of year!!

I stamped the "stamps" on Naturals Ivory and punched with the Postage Stamp Punch. They are attached with dimensionals over the ribbon. The saying I used is from Friendly Phrases. I stamped it in Lucky Limeade on Naturals Ivory and punched it with the Scallop Oval punch. I accented the words with the small flower from Fresh Vintage in Baja Breeze. That is layered onto a Lucky Limeade Scallop Oval Punch Window and attached to the background with dimensionals.

Tiled Sunflower

Happy Monday all! I know, those two words don't go together!! I'm spoiled and don't work Mondays, so they usually aren't too bad for me!! If you consider cleaning, errands and laundry not bad!!

I had Club yesterday-great day with My Girls as usual!! This first card was inspired by Glenda Travelstead, a fellow demo and part of the SUDSOL group. She shared a class she did using the Simply Scored. Her card used the Sunflower and the tile technique. Of course I had to do that!!! Here is my version that the Girls did:

The first step on this card is to cut your Whisper White card stock 4" x 5". Not a usual layer size for me, but it works best for scoring. Score it both directions on every inch mark. Next step, ink the Sunflower and stamp over the recessed lines, not the raised lines. Oh, use the smaller end of the stylus for deeper lines also. We inked the Sunflower first with Daffodil Delight, then added some More Mustard with a Sponge Dauber right were the petals meet the center. In the center we added Chocolate Chip on the outside, and Early Espresso in the very center. Huff on your stamp to refresh the ink, then stamp.

The tiled image is layered onto a slightly larger Daffodil Delight layer. At the bottom we tied around a Chocolate Chip Scallop Dots Ribbon. This one is done with the dots down, it looked great either way. The saying is from a new to me word set, Friendly Phrases. It is stamped in Early Espresso on Whisper White, punched with the Large Oval Punch, then layered onto a Daffodil Delight Scallop Oval Punch. The element is attached over the ribbon with dimensionals. Actually, one dimensional split in half-one half on top, on on the bottom. The entire layer is attached to the Early Espresso card base.

Thanks for stopping by today!! I'll have two more cards from Club to share this week, and hope to get some more stamping in!! Have a GREAT week all!!
