Hey all, Happy New Year. Another absence - sorry! Holidays! Hope yours were good, ours were great!! Being in the same general area as our kids is awesome! No travel!!
I have been creating some and still organizing some! New ink pad holders on the way today to give me a completely different set up and lots more room on my table to create! Will share pics when the changeover is done!
I put a pretty good hit on my "stash" of cards last year, especially birthday. I also want to send more masculine ones this year, to cousins and uncles and such. I make very few of those!! But the first thing that came to find is Polished Stone and stamping over an outline image. Here is the first one!
I have not been through all the stamps I have, but I have several that fit this category. This first one is from a retired lighthouse set called Coast to Coast. I only have 2 of the images but I've always liked them!
Polished stone is done on Glossy Cardstock, using rubbing alcohol, a cotton ball and reinkers. The original technique used metallic ink as well, but that requires it being sealed (or set) with a spray of some sort. Don't want to mess with that! I've done this many times without any metallic, just using reinkers. Generally, 3 is a good look. You want to put alcohol on the cotton ball, then 3 drops of ink. Blot that across the cardstock and blend until you've covered it all. Don't do too much or you will muddy the colors! It is a fine line :) I did find some Shimmer Paint that Stampin' Up! used to carry. It does not require being sealed and gives a fine metallic/shimmer aspect! I used the Champagne on this one, kind of an off white! Let that dry, then stamp over your chosen image with Stazon Jet Black. Carefully as not to smudge, then let dry again!
Colors used here on the background are Azure Afternoon, Balmy Blue and Crumb Cake. Card base is Azure, background of Crumb Cake stamped with a background stamp. Saying in Stazon Jet Black as well. Accent behind light house of Basic Black.
My apologies for using mostly retired items on this card. Current colors and other links are below. I'm hoping most of you have a "stash" of stuff like I do and this inspires you to create :) I will be back soon with info on all new things coming to Stampin' Up! next week, and with more cards!!
