Banner cards

Howdy all! Back today with a few cards from time in the stamp room yesterday. I've kept all the items from the Advent Crafting Calendar all together, intending to sit down and play. Yesterday was the day!!

BTW, if you haven't heard, the Avent Crafting Calendar is on the LAST Chance list for 20% off! Well worth that price! The stamp set is fabulous, great elements plus words. There are dies, DSP, ephemera, baker's twine, embellishments and more!

Here is a picture from my desk yesterday with some of the products! Click to enlarge :)

I started with cutting the 6x6 DSP into background sizes. That left me a narrow strip of each, and a wider strip. The wider strip, approx 2x6, I cut into squares and rectangles with the dies that came in the Calendar. The strips I knew would make perfect banner cards. I did one of these awhile back but didn't cut the ends into banner shape. I've since found, and remembered how to use my banner punch (retired). Not all are perfect, but close enough! Here are the cards!

I started with laying the scraps on my desk and see what I liked. Moved some around for contrast and just general better coordination. Luckly this DSP is just one sided, so less choices!!

Once I had the patterns I liked together, I looked at what colors would be best for background and base.

Coordinating colors are listed as Misty Moonlight, Basic Beige, Old Olive, Flirty Flamingo, Crushed Curry and Secret Sea. Top two cards have a Misty Moonlight base. Top is accent with Flamingo because of all the pink in the patterns. Second is Crushed Curry. Bottom doesn't have an accent layer, just a base of Flirty Flamingo. The middle one has a "happy birthday" from Lovely Arrangements. It perfectly fit the small pink banner that came in the kit.

After I attached the banners, I ran all 3 backgrounds through the new Lovely Stripes embossing folder. I thought that would be a great accent for the banners. I then chose an element (from the kit) for a saying, I was shooting for birthday. The stamp set does have a birthday saying, but it is long! Longer than I wanted. The circles that came with the kit were perfect for the "for someone extra special" stamp and these will work for birthday or other occasions. The top two were stamped with Misty Moonlight, the bottom with Flirty Flamingo. I added a small clear opal to the flower and bow center!

Watch for more cards to come with the DSP and squares and rectangles! Thanks for stopping by today! Product details and shopping links below!
