Simple Inked DSP

Hey, sorry all to do two posts on top of each other. But I shared this simple card yesterday on my Sunflower Stamper Facebook page and it's gone crazy! So, I'm sharing here as well, with more details!

Strips of DSP with a large image flower. So simple and sweet! This one is just two-tones with white, but so many colors would work! Night of Navy and Balmy Blue with Basic White.

Strips are from the True Blue Floral DSP, the January Product of the Month, which I'm just discovering iS now sold out. But I'm sure you ALL have a stash of DSP. Find one with a small print and colors you love and go for it! The strips are 1/2" wide. Which sounds tricky, but not if you use the Stampin' Up! Paper Trimmer. Keep your paper square and up against the top and use the line on the outside of the cutting line to measure your 1/2". I would also suggest leaving them longer than your base layer and trimming after applying them.

So, this is a standard size card. Navy base is 8-1/2 x 5-1/2, scored and folded to be 4-1/2 by 5-1/2. I added a Balmy Blue accent layer of 4x5-1/4. The Basic White is 1/8 smaller than that! I like a tight layer when it's just for accent!

I totally eyeball getting the strips straight and for all my layers. In this case, take the white and the strips. Leave a bit of white on the long edge and line up the top to adhere. Repeat with the other two. I did stamp my flower first but if I was doing it again, I'd do the strips first, then stamp the flower so you can get better placement. Once you have all 3 strips you can trim them off at the bottom with your scissors. Stamp your flower then adhere your layers together.

I embellished with a coordinating ribbon and bling. Saying is from the same set as the flower, Inked and Tiled. retired. Oval stamps also retired. Bling added to the saying and flowers.

Block Spotlight

Hey all, finally back with those birthday cards I promised - last week got away! The first ones are headed out today in the mail! Inspired by something I saw on Pinterest but tweaked to be mine! And of course, purple!

Highland Heather to be exact, with Basic Black accent and Whisper White top layer. I inked up the "H" clear block for the rectangle element, then stamped the flower image from Spotlight on Nature over it with Memento Tuxedo Black. Happy Birthday (from retired Inked & Tiled) was added to the side and the whole top layer wax textured in the Stampin' Cut and Emboss with the retired Subtle folder. It now looks like textured cardstock! I layered the top layer onto the Basic Black, knotted a ribbon (retired Black & White check) around that and attached onto the Highland Heather card base. A few Highland Heather shimmer gems for the final accent!

Thanks for stopping by today! Product details and links below. I hope to get to the stamp room this week, lots of new fun things down there to give a try, and plenty of "old" projects to work through. I'm also behind on Paper Pumpkin again. Need to remedy that :)

Inked & Tiled Birthday

Howdy all, Happy Friday! Still mixed up on days over here! Haven't been anywhere since last Saturday right before the storm rolled in. But the Christmas tree is finally down! Just a few more things to box and put away. We also fired all the snowmen :) We've had enough!!

Here are a couple birthday cards that I made quick yesterday. Had an idea in my head and it came out perfect! These could be done is so many colors! And likely with quite a few different stamp sets!

Aren't these fun? and pretty quick and easy as well! The stamps used are all from the retired Inked & Tiled set. Just grab 3 colors you like together and go! The top one is Highland Heather, Lemon Lime Twist and Lemon Lolly with a Highland Heather base. The accent flower, birthday saying and accent layer are Early Espresso. The bottom one is Peach Pie, Lemon Lime Twist and Pool Party with a Peach Pie base. Same Early Espresso accents. Small White ribbon bow for accent.

There will be more of these in my future! I just went through all my old ink pads and redid how I store them on my desk, so they are now accessible. And I sorted the cardstock too, so I know what I have to work with! Next time I go rummaging for stamps I'll be looking for more that work with this!!

I just took a flip through the current catalog, and Spotlight on Nature would work for this very well! You could do the "lines" with the small texture stamp, or use a clear block, shape stamp or Painter's tape. See this post for a painters tape card-it is what originally inspired this idea! I realized the line stamp in this set could replace the tape!

Thanks for stopping by! Hopefully back soon! Product details and store links below!

Inked & Tiled

I recently saw some creations with this set and had to add it to my collection! It arrived recently and I decided to play yesterday!! Inspired by the Color Throwdown challenge of the week #CTD745, here is my first creation!

And the challenge graphic, yellow, green and white.

Pretty simple but I love how it came out! I added a neutral, Smoky Slate for the accent on the side and the saying. The accent was stamped off once so as not to overpower the flowers. The flower is Lemon Lolly and the stem is Parakeet Party. I used the Stampin' Write Markers to ink the stamp. Accent dots in Lemon Lolly and a bow of Parakeet Party Metallic ribbon.
