Dragonfly Dreams CTD524

Hey all! Hope everyone is doing GREAT so far this year! I've found some more time in the stamp room - yeah! Tonight is a card I created for the color challenge at Color Throwdown. Love the bright colors, but especially at this time of year when everything outside is so drab! Here is the card

And the challenge inspiration. In Stampin' Up! Colors I chose Pineapple Punch, Granny Apple Green, white and black.

The card base is Granny Apple Green with a Basic Black accent layer behind the background of Shimmery White. I stamped that with the dot image from Dragonfly Dreams in both Granny Apple Green and Pineapple Punch. Some angled to the left, some to the right, some overlap. I also ran it through the Big Shot with the Polka Dots Basics Embossing Folder.  For the dragonfly, I first took the "solid" wing image and colored with markers. Pineapple on the outside, Granny Apple on the inside. I stamped that on a piece of Shimmery White Cardstock, then stamped the outline of the dragonfly over it with Memento Black. I then picked up the markers again and made both colors darker. After using the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlit to cut it out, I ran over all of the dragonfly with the Wink of Stella to give it LOTS of shimmer. The saying at the bottom was just cut and layered onto Basic Black and attached with dimensionals. A Pineapple Punch 1/8" grosgrain ribbon was wrapped around the card base 5 times, then knotted in the center with a separate piece. Dragonfly attached with mini dimensionals and done.

Desk Calendar part 2

Hello again! Here are the first 3 months of my 2019 desk calendar.  Did these New Year's Eve and really hoping to get back up there soon to finish the year!

Took a little different approach to the colors for these 3. I'm still adjusting to the color change and not all that familiar with what goes together since I don't spend much time up there. I did grab Painted Harvest because I know it can work with any colors. Then I thought for each month, what color goes with January? February? March?? January brings cold and snow, so blue. February, Valentine's Day so red &/or pink. March, St. Patrick's Day so Green.

The calendar this year is brownish day numbers and Gray month numbers. For January I used Gray Granite for the flower center, Blueberry Bushel for the 'january' and center petals, and Balmy Blue for the background petals. Random dots stamped between in all 3 colors, full strength to off once and twice. Simple White Sheer Ribbon under the calendar. Background cardstock is Blueberry Bushel.

Red is not usually my thing and I had forgotten how much I like Poppy Parade! Card base and accent layer are that. February is stamped in Poppy over the gray printed 2. Background flower layer is Flirty Flamingo, center petals Poppy Parade. Centers this time are Smoky Slate. Random dots again in between in various strengths. Light edging on the calendar and background layer with Smoky Slate. Ribbon is Poppy Parade striped. Calendar is attached with dimensionals over the ribbon.

St. Patrick's Day isn't all that special to us either, but I really love these green flowers. Who knew, green flowers would look so cool! Call Me Clover is an In Color and the base color and 'march' color. Also center petal color. Center is Smoky Slate again and the background petal is Granny Smith Green. Random dots again around the flowers. Note on the 17, the set has small stamps to mark special days. White Classic Weave ribbon knotted on this one.

Here is the view of them on my desk, from the front and then from the site. The red ribbon peeks out just a bit behind the blue, but that's OK!

Desk Calendar part 1

Happy New Year all! With a new year comes the need for new calendars! Yes, we all have our phones and use those, but I really like one on my desk when paying bills and such to see the entire month. A couple years back Stampin' Up! did a desk calendar for the Paper Pumpkin monthly kit. Click HERE to see the post with all the details. One of the few Pumpkin kits I've actually fully put together and loved!!

That one was for 2016 and I did miss it when it ended. I didn't realize there had been another set of the calendars created for the next year. Luckily I kept the stand and accidentally discovered near the end of 2017 that the files were available. I had gotten rid of the cards, but I started over from scratch and made some of the months for 2018. The first 3, and the last 3!! That is how my stamping goes these days...in spurts!

We all know I love Sunflowers, and I gravitated toward the Painted Harvest to do the 2018 ones. Click the pictures to enlarge and see details!

The stamp set with the original Paper Pumpkin had the months in the cursive font, and smaller stamps to accent holidays and special days. The months are in a pdf file that I printed on Whisper White Cardstock and cut out. I love how these came out, but I do remember struggling with colors. Some also have too much embellishment. Yes, that is possible, they don't sit well in the stand :)

The 18 file was printed with "brown" letters, and the month number was a light blue so I tried to use those colors. Soft Suede and Crumb Cake for the brown, Pool Party or Coastal Cabana for the blue. I like how these came out but don't have the exact color combos written down. I can probably figure them out if need be! Just ask! I know December is Merry Merlot (LOVE!!) and October was Blackberry Bliss and Pool Party.

Come back tomorrow and see what I've started for 2019! Autumn Harvest again, with a simple color scheme for the first 3 months!
