Inked & Tiled Birthday

Howdy all, Happy Friday! Still mixed up on days over here! Haven't been anywhere since last Saturday right before the storm rolled in. But the Christmas tree is finally down! Just a few more things to box and put away. We also fired all the snowmen :) We've had enough!!

Here are a couple birthday cards that I made quick yesterday. Had an idea in my head and it came out perfect! These could be done is so many colors! And likely with quite a few different stamp sets!

Aren't these fun? and pretty quick and easy as well! The stamps used are all from the retired Inked & Tiled set. Just grab 3 colors you like together and go! The top one is Highland Heather, Lemon Lime Twist and Lemon Lolly with a Highland Heather base. The accent flower, birthday saying and accent layer are Early Espresso. The bottom one is Peach Pie, Lemon Lime Twist and Pool Party with a Peach Pie base. Same Early Espresso accents. Small White ribbon bow for accent.

There will be more of these in my future! I just went through all my old ink pads and redid how I store them on my desk, so they are now accessible. And I sorted the cardstock too, so I know what I have to work with! Next time I go rummaging for stamps I'll be looking for more that work with this!!

I just took a flip through the current catalog, and Spotlight on Nature would work for this very well! You could do the "lines" with the small texture stamp, or use a clear block, shape stamp or Painter's tape. See this post for a painters tape card-it is what originally inspired this idea! I realized the line stamp in this set could replace the tape!

Thanks for stopping by! Hopefully back soon! Product details and store links below!

Petal Pink Floral Birthday

Hey all, Happy Thursday! Getting a little warmer here, finally! Melting some. Sun would help, but not in the cards today! I've been working on birthday cards to replenish my supply and get some in the mail for January!

I saw a card that inspired me the other day, and it was tone on tone. My initial thought was that contrast would work well too. So, I tried it with contrast first. I don't remember where I found the inspiration to give credit, but it was very much this layout with a DSP background over cardstock.

Gray Granite card base, Petal Pink DSP from the Country Lace pack on Petal Pink background. All stamps from the Translucent Floral set. Petal Pink flower stamped on a Basic White Deckled Rectangle with Soft Seafoam stem/leaves and Gray Granite Happy Birthday. The ribbon is from the White/Petal Pink Diagonal Trim combo pack from the current catalog. Retired Petal Pink sequins are the perfect final accent. Deckled Rectangle is a retired die set as well.

I like the card but then on a whim I tried tone and tone and wow, I like it more! See what you think!

I'm going to have to try this more often! Petal Pink has become a favorite for me! Same everything on this card except the card base is Petal Pink instead of Gray Granite. So pretty! If you have a stash of DSP like I do, keep this in mind!

Thanks for stopping by today! Product details and links below. All current except the sequins (and there is likely something current that would work!!) and the Deckled Rectangle die set.

Birthday Lighthouse

Hey all, Happy New Year. Another absence - sorry! Holidays! Hope yours were good, ours were great!! Being in the same general area as our kids is awesome! No travel!!

I have been creating some and still organizing some! New ink pad holders on the way today to give me a completely different set up and lots more room on my table to create! Will share pics when the changeover is done!

I put a pretty good hit on my "stash" of cards last year, especially birthday. I also want to send more masculine ones this year, to cousins and uncles and such. I make very few of those!! But the first thing that came to find is Polished Stone and stamping over an outline image. Here is the first one!

I have not been through all the stamps I have, but I have several that fit this category. This first one is from a retired lighthouse set called Coast to Coast. I only have 2 of the images but I've always liked them!

Polished stone is done on Glossy Cardstock, using rubbing alcohol, a cotton ball and reinkers. The original technique used metallic ink as well, but that requires it being sealed (or set) with a spray of some sort. Don't want to mess with that! I've done this many times without any metallic, just using reinkers. Generally, 3 is a good look. You want to put alcohol on the cotton ball, then 3 drops of ink. Blot that across the cardstock and blend until you've covered it all. Don't do too much or you will muddy the colors! It is a fine line :) I did find some Shimmer Paint that Stampin' Up! used to carry. It does not require being sealed and gives a fine metallic/shimmer aspect! I used the Champagne on this one, kind of an off white! Let that dry, then stamp over your chosen image with Stazon Jet Black. Carefully as not to smudge, then let dry again!

Colors used here on the background are Azure Afternoon, Balmy Blue and Crumb Cake. Card base is Azure, background of Crumb Cake stamped with a background stamp. Saying in Stazon Jet Black as well. Accent behind light house of Basic Black.

My apologies for using mostly retired items on this card. Current colors and other links are below. I'm hoping most of you have a "stash" of stuff like I do and this inspires you to create :) I will be back soon with info on all new things coming to Stampin' Up! next week, and with more cards!!
