Pink Watercolor Spritz

Hey all!! Boy was this fun!! I was browsing around the other day and pulled up a card I had pinned. The card led to a blog with a post and video about doing "watercolor spritz". See the Blog Post HERE by demo Kim Peck. Not sure if this is any official technique, or just what Kim called it. But, it looked fun so I decided to give it a try. Here is my first creation which worked for two challenges I came across this week. Just Add Water at Just Add Ink, and Any Shade of Pink by The Paper Players.

The card base is Melon Mambo, accent layer of Powder Pink and a background layer of Shimmery White. First step is to take the background and stamp 3 background elements on it. I chose the more solid "blot" image from Touches of Texture and stamped it 3 times. Melon Mambo in the Center, Blushing Bride below, and Powder Pink above. Next: spray it with water. This is the variable element. I didn't want to get it to wet, but you need enough for the colors to run together some! I'm happy with how this came out, and I'll be back playing again. Spray it with water on a scratch piece of paper that you can set aside to dry while you work on something else! I let it dry mostly on its own, then picked up my heat tool and gave it the once over :) I attached it to the accent layer before stamping the flower image. I wanted to make sure it was flat as possible and not moving around! The flower image is from the same set and was inked with Basic Black (Archival). I tied a Powder Pink ribbon around and added a saying at the bottom from Sunshine Sayings. Almost as an afterthought, I picked up my Wink of Stella and colored the flower image with clear glitter. LOVE!! Really makes the image pop!

Thanks for stopping by today!! Product details and store links below!! Back soon... I hope!! NCAA basketball may be a distraction, especially when my K-State Wildcats play Friday night, but I hope to keep this creating and posting going!!

Coral Sheltering Tree

Hey all! Hope you had a GREAT weekend and your Monday has been kind to you! I picked up a mild cold somewhere over the weekend so I took it pretty easy today! I did make some more progress on getting the stamp room & myself organized again! Long ways to go, especially on the room, but I'm feeling like I can create when need be! Hoping to keep it going!!

I thought I was getting this card done in time for the Color Throwdown challenge, but turns out I was wrong! Closing time was Eastern, not Central like me :) Oh well, I linked to them anyway so you can see all the creations over there!!

Here is my card

and their challenge graphic.

Coral, Green and Kraft equates to Calypso Coral, Wild Wasabi and Crumb Cake in the Stampin' Up! world.  I looked at a couple other options, but settled on Sheltering Tree. I meant this to look like a tree blooming in Spring. Hoping to see that soon here in Nebraska!! I stamped the trunk/branches first in Crumb Cake, then added "leaves" in Wild Wasabi. I then stamped the same stamp twice with Calypso Coral, each turned a little off the original. Once right, once left. Photopolymer stamps are GREAT for this! It pretty much pops off the card doesn't it? I also reinked my stamp pads yesterday, so it is a little more inky than I would prefer!! I added the grass, flowers/stems and swing and the saying at the bottom. The ribbon is from the FREE Sale-A-Bration item "Shimmer Ribbon Pack". Pretty awesome set - Basic Gray, Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral. 5 yards of each. The background layer is Very Vanilla, with both Crumb Cake and Wild Wasabi accent layers on a card base of Calypso Coral. I don't usually do that many layers, but it worked with this one!

Heartfelt Blooms in Fresh Fig

Morning all!

Here is my first play with the Heartfelt Blooms set. This is one of the FREE items you can earn during Sale-A-Bration with a $50 purchase.

This is a beautiful stamp! Just make sure your inkpad is well inked! My afternoon plan is to give all of mine a refresh! Too little use over the last few years. I inked the image with Fresh Fig and stamped in the center top of a Shimmery White background. I added the saying at the bottom, also in Fresh Fig. I'm also out of practice tying bows! I finally got this one to look OK. The Shimmery white is layered onto Fresh Fig and then onto the card base of Basic Gray. In the center of the flower is a White Perfect Accent. Simple but very pretty!

There will be more with this set this week! Thanks for stopping by today! Product details and links below.

Beautiful Day Pink Butterfly

Hey all! Back again! This time with a butterfly from the Beautiful Day set colored in Pink!

Even though I'm not a "girly" girl, I've always liked pink! Dresses or fancy stuff, not so much!! :)

I will preface this by saying, the scan did NOT do justice to the card! It is much more "WOW" in person!!

The colors seem off in the scan, but trust me, in person, they are spot on!
I went looking for background paper (DSP) to use and stumbled on this "foil" pack that is a Sale-A-Bration FREE item. Part of the 2nd issue, Springtime Foils item #147193 FREE with a $50 purchase. 12 sheets, 3 each of 4 designs. This particular one has a "Rose Gold" foil. So, I picked up by Stampin' Blends to see what pink choice I had and the answer was Pink Pirouette. Not a color I use often, but it worked out GREAT for this idea :) I stamped the butterfly from Beautiful Day on a piece of Thick Whisper White Cardstock. I colored the "center" sections with Smoky Slate for accent. Then colored the rest with the light Pink Pirouette. I edged with the dark Pink Pirouette and then re-blended the edges.  Before cutting out, I went over ALL the butterfly with my Wink of Stella. THIS my be my new favorite item!!

OH, but I forgot the best part!! See that ribbon?? Yep, colored with the Stampin' Blend marker! That is the Whisper White Organza ribbon from the Occasions Catalog I cut a strip that I knew would be more than long enough to knot around the background. On a piece of scratch paper, I brushed it with my dark Pink Pirouette blend marker brush tip. I made sure the color was even along the length of the ribbon and set it aside while I did the rest of the card. After coloring the butterfly and cutting it out, I picked it up, ran a test tissue along it to make sure it was dry. Yep, no color on the tissue!

I knotted the ribbon around the background into a bow and trimmed the edges. The butterfly is attached with dimensionals to the foil background paper. Accent layer of Smoky Slate and card base of Pink Pirouette.
