Ok, finally, after a "me day" of sorts (nap, haircut, new shoes...), I made time to make a card with the colors posted today at the ColorLab!! I'm finding it interesting, 10 weeks into ColorLab challenges, how different colors direct the stamps that I choose. My first step is generally scanning stamp sets or the catalog to see what will work with the colors given. Fun fun!!!
OK, here again are the colors,
and here is what I did with them!
Once again, these colors said Fall to me. I'm really seeing these around here in Nebraska, the yellow especially. We had a field full of sunflowers last weekend, technically weeds, but they really looked neat! Especially when hubby let the cows (mostly black Angus) out in there. Of course I didn't grab my camera, but they liked the sunflowers too-they are now all gone!
Anyway, for the card! Base is Chocolate Chip. Top Note is Very Vanilla. The "shape" background is made by inking one of our clear blocks. Cool huh? I remember when we had stamp sets that gave this same look. Now I have a set of blocks so I can choose many different sizes! You'll be seeing more of these!! I inked the block (Block D?) with Crumb Cake and stamped in the upper center of the Top Note. I then inked the leaf from French Foliage in Daffodil Delight and thumped it with Poppy Parade and Chocolate Chip. I stamped it once directly onto the Crumb Cake square, then repeated and stamped onto a scrap Very Vanilla. The second one I cut out, curled the leaf a little bit, and attached with dimensionals right over the directly stamped one. "friend to friend" from Teeny Tiny Wishes was stamped in Chocolate Chip in the lower corner of the block image. I sponged the edge of the Top Note first in Daffodil Delight with a Stamping Sponge rather heavily so that the color goes almost to the score line of the Top Note. Then I grabbed a Sponge Dauber for more controlled application and did Poppy Parade on the edge. Click to enlarge the photo if you want to see the detail closer!! Metallic brads were added at each point of the Top Note, and Daffodil Delight Taffeta ribbon tied around the bottom.
Thanks for stopping by here, hope you'll stop over by the ColorLab and play along!! Long week so far and work tomorrow, so I'm calling it a day. Happy Friday all!!!

I love that you cut out the leaf. It came out great!
The card came out great!! I love all the textures of the leaf and background image.
Gorgeous card! The leaf and the color block make a wonderful focus. And I love more ideas for gender universal cards!
Great idea to ink up the block. I'll have to remember that. This is a great take on the colors this week.
Beautiful, I love this!!!
